WAKE INDUCED

Two questions...

1.   Is it possible to enter non-physical consciousness from a wakeful state without the body being  asleep?
2.   If we try to enter non= physical consciousness  from a wake-induced method, is it necessary for the body to enter into REM sleep?

Yes, that's the entire point of a "conscious exit" via meditation.

Nope.  As with #1, you don't need to ever put your body to sleep.  You simply need to become unaware of it.

Thanks Xanth for your prompt and clear explanation.  :-)

So if we can enter non-physical consciousness from a wakeful state without the body being asleep, then, there should be a higher quality of the astral experience, being free of 'dreamstuff' and subjectivity.
And yet I can't help feeling there is evidence of 'dreamstuff' and subjectivity in most peoples' recorded astral experiences, even of Monroe's.
