Hello everyone! im new to this forum and have been reading a LOT of posts on here, some very interesting an helpful stuff.
I have recently been trying to astral project, only a few attempts. Some after waking up from a 4-5 hour sleep and once in the morning an hour before i was going to get up! ive know about the subject for years and have had many short lucid dreams. my brother once achieved a OBE a few days after i told him about lucid dreaming which caused him to investigate the subject and he became very interested and tried lots of different techniques and it actually worked for him after only a couple days! however it was very short and he only managed to look at himself sleeping.

Anyway when i have tried doing this i have failed! and i feel like ill never be able to consciously induce an astral projection! i know you might say its because i simply haven't practiced enough! but my problem is that i cant get comfortable!

I have always ALWAYS been a person who can not stop moving for the life of me when it comes to going to sleep or relaxing in a bed. i physically feel a discomfort after laying in the same position for 5 minutes and have to move! to be honest, im quite bloody surprised i managed to stay still for the 15 minute attempt at astral projection the other day! i gave up because i felt such an urge to move and stop laying on my back, and i might add that laying on my back is also the least comfiest position for me to sleep let alone try and not move like i normally do every 5 minutes :(
this is why i feel i cannot induce this, i really want help on the matter. there has been nothing in the world that has interested me more than the ability to be able to Astral project/lucid dream/ have an OOBE.

The idea is to keep your mind awake and your body asleep! i feel that i can easily keep my mind awake as when i attempted this halfway during a good night sleep, i felt my body was very tired yes i was so awake in my own head! but the thought of having to lay there and stay dead still makes me think its torture and all i think about is how much longer am i going to lay there for! i don't even know why i bother! i know with these types of thoughts it will never work and i need to be in the right state of mind but i feel that comfort is the only issue with me and its annoying me because i can easily withstand the itches and what not. that is no issue. No one else seems to have this problem! or at least to the extent i have it.

Please help and/or tutor me i am eager start venturing the road of refined spirituality ^_^

You really need to calm those movements or it will be almost impossible. The best time would be as soon as you realise your about to wake, don't move or even open your eyes. You have a few seconds where everything is primed and ready to go. See if this can be used. You will still be leaving the dreamstate and as your awareness builds try to rejoin the dream. Once you can do this you'll be in a position to change things to your advantage.

Close your eyes and open your mind.

thanks that might help a lot! just to clarify do you mean when i wake up from my sleep, i should try to think about astral projection and keep my body still from the position i just awoke from? and try to keep my mind awake from that point?

This will be very difficult to remember as i just wake up but i could give it a shot! hell i will probably move an inch then remember! that will be a mess-up :P

Yes, the idea is to get you to become aware before you actually wake up fully. Normally you would be dreaming and it seems to drift off course, you recognise something not part of the dream,  typically a physical sound and wake tuned in to this noise. The noise becomes clear and you then fully wake up.
If you can make this distinction on waking then a method can be given to aid your attempt to wake the mind but not the body.

If you are uncomfortable laying on your back then try your side. I've been ap since early childhood and you can ap from either way. I know if your not comfortable you'll never ap. Just remember if you try laying on your side make sure your facing the edge of the bed, and try the roll out procedure. I find it works just as well. The second you relax and don't try So hard you'll be ap through your room. Good luck and have fun :-)
