So the idea is that the astral is not a spiritual realm, rather the astral is actually the "fine matter world" which is not really spiritiual and not so different from our world.
To evolve into the proper spiritual realms one would require to spend billions of years in the reincarnation cycle.

It's all just labels... proper spiritual realms. This reality we're in right now is as much a "spiritual realm" as any reality you'll project to.
You're projecting right now INTO this physical reality.
I think the differences are largely illusional. I like what the Emerald tablet says " all things come from one thing by the thought of one thus all things are born of this one thing by choice." This is a good summary of what I think is the most accurate cosmology. All things have a common origin and because of that things can theoretically be changed from one thing to another. But as you know this is almost impossible.. Why? Because belief shapes and creates. Our world is fashioned by our actions and it is also fashioned by what we believe. If everyone believed the same then the physical would change to conform.
