the noise, and the vibes, happen by themselves... now what?

OK, I posted a sort of intro already but it wasn't all the info that might help. So I'm writing this out really quickly as I have the tendency to over-think things.

About four years ago I started experiencing odd hallucinations at night. They usually started with the now-familiar noise. This was all spontaneous. I was not practicing any esoteric arts! I was generally a skeptic. At first I thought it was my hormones or something, but I knew it was very different from a dream. For one thing, I was right where I should be (in my bed), not in some dream world. Things would be in my hand - and then they'd just disappear.

There were a number of variations:
- an ordinary person in the room
- a creepy 'presence' in the room
- a physical sensation of something touching me, pulling the covers, or walking on the bed
- a violent shaking (once)
- and sometimes a sort of vibration which would come over me and go inside my head (if I allowed it to) for a few seconds

Roughly a half of these episodes were 'creepy', a quarter ordinary, and a quarter the strange vibration.

So, now that I've done some research, suddenly I think maybe I was very close to an astral projection.

My question is, where do I go from there? These are not common, they happen at random and at unpredictable intervals. I now recognize the 'aura' before it starts. I'll wake up and just "know" it's one of those nights. Again, about half are too creepy to allow to continue. I can stop the whole thing by changing position. I've also decided to meditate on the nights when I'm already awake, to be open to other experiences.

So when/if the next aura happens, how can I guide it toward the vibration state, and at the height of the shaking, do you have any suggestions to induce an OBE or whatever the guides have in mind for me at this time??  :-)

Please don't be envious of me getting there *without meditation* because it's been annoying and/or frightening many times. However I feel blessed to now have an opportunity to use it constructively. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Lizelle, my advice to you is to read as many of the posts on Out-of-Body experiences to get an all round knowledge of what to expect in this subject. With more knowledge of it you will have less fear, which I think is causing these creepy and negative  experiences .
Cheers djed

Hi there,

I agree with djed, if you read around these forums you'll get some great information on methods and other people's experiences, that's what I did. In fact, my experiences started pretty much the same as yours. I experienced sleep paralysis (SP) from a young age and at random times through my life. Then, a while ago the vibrations started and I was like WTF?! So I did some digging and ended up here. I have had a few successful attempts at OBE so far, but not with the level of control and clearness of mind that most others on this site have.
All I can say is that it may well still take time and patience even though you can get to the vibration stage easily, (as can I).
But good luck, read on and try not to take everything literally. One method that somebody says is a definite way, may not work for somebody else. But use these forums as guidance and form your own path.
All the best and keep us posted of your progress, everyone will try to help you with any questions!
:-)

Thanks Daytona. I'm still learning the terminology. (WILD, PUL etc.) Is there a glossary which briefly explains these?

Interestingly, last night I got the vibrations out of nowhere. No aura, feeling things moving, noise, or any other indications. That's good, I guess, because the creepy feelings normally prevent exploration. But it's also nice to have some warning so I can remember some of the advice and set positive intentions. Nothing came of it, but I'm starting to get used to the sensation (which can be overwhelming at first). Now that I know nothing bad will happen, I think I'll focus on tuning-in to the vibration. I have the notion that each time I will synchronize a little better, with longer & stronger vibes, until (hopefully) I pop out. We shall see!

I'm a light sleeper and usually wake up many times during the night, and have stretches of insomnia also. I used to see this as a curse, but now I see it as an advantage in my explorations. I'm downloading a few audio aids and thanks to my little iPod Shuffle I'll be able to play them without disturbing anyone else. Isn't life grand?
8-)

Just go with it. Nothing to be scared of. If the opportunity arises again, you know what to do, let it ride its course. When it finishes -explore.

On the nights I get unwanted vibrations, thats what I do as well, il roll on my side. Just confront it though, youl be happy ya did.

That's very good advice. Take heed of it, Lizelle. ^^
