Title: Trance State
Post by: NickJW on March 07, 2005, 00:17:28
I have been practising some meditation and trance induction techniques and now sometimes i just go into trance on random occasions. Is there any way to control the trance state better and bring it on only when I want to?

I'm sure others can give a better answer than me, but I guess getting plenty of sleep and drinking coffee will make it harder for you to slip into a trance when you don't want one. :-)

Slipping into the trance state during the day is usually a sign of not being full rested, happens to me all the time.

If I haven't been getting at least 8 hours of sleep during the week, any atemps at projecting  just end up with me getting into a trance really fast, and than just falling asleep.

Ever notice when you stay up really really late, or pull an all nighter, how sometimes you'll hear things, or see things out of the corner of your eyes? and that your thinking will be differently?  I think its because its a light state of trance. Your body is starting to fall asleep because its been sleep deprived, but mentally your staying awake. You expireance the same kinds of things with your eyes open in the waking life as you would while meditating in a trance, only not to that depth.  It's rather anonying, I hate being sleep deprived.

i just read that Felicitas Goodman says meditation is decreasing the ability to fall into trance.  by trance she means extacic type of trance which is probably different from the trance that is ment by folks over here. also the trance figures reportet by her are meant to increase the ability to control and finetune trance states and also using them would give a good symbolical borderline beetween normal consciousness and excercises.

dont ask me, im just reporting second hand info

i think "Ecstatic Body Postures: An Alternate Reality Workbook" is the english edition of the book i am referring to
