Hello fellow astral travelers... last night after taking a few hits of pot (maybe pot inhibits astral travel but I feel so much more focused and aware of my innerself) I began meditating in a recliner and found myself in what I believe was a "light trance" for several seconds... I lossed feel of my body, got the swirls though I could still passively hear.

I did the full body stretching, and forced down my shoulders and any other part of my body that held the slightest tension (I notice you can be unaware of tension unless you search for it, typically the shoulders.) I tried the rising and rope pulling method but it felt so unnatural... falling is one of the most natural human feelings and so I was able to better grasp it... the way I did this was I pictured myself (or a third person version of myself) walking backwards off a cliff, more specifically the grand canyon.

I pictured the vastness of this setting, and I pictured the bottom of my heels as they stepped backwards off the edge... I pictured myself falling back, falling into this vastness... feeling it as I pictured it. Everytime I felt my focus slipping, I repeated this "scene" in my mind and it helped. I felt I could've gone much deeper but I had to break it... my sister's American Idol was blasting on television in the background, damn that squawking Paula Abdul... my reasoning was I figured I'd get farther in my ability if I did so with some distraction, and felt safer with family in close proximity. After I opened my eyes my body felt like jelly, and I had that buzzing in my head I got as a child...

I didn't attempt again because it was early and I didn't want to be in projection mode when I was trying to sleep later that night... luckily that didn't happen... but I felt it was great practice.

Perhaps if you picture yourself doing the action, one you feel is natural and related to the feelings one recieves in trance, instead of trying to hold onto the feeling alone, it'll get you farther. Just a thought... I'm just wondering if I'd end up in the Grand Canyon by doing this.

the falling technique is a big part of many trance meditations so you were right in thinking this as it is one of the most natural human feelings and is great fro dissasociating yourself from your conciousness.

Hey i had this falling technique when i started, it kinda presented itself to me and i explored it a bit more, i often made the mistake of holding my breath while making it feel as if i was actually falling out of myself.

But after i got the hang of it it was the best method i had, its like completely letting go and leaving everything behind, try to feel that and it will be not so hard to do.
