Q about conciousness of spirits & entities (long)

You may want to pick up a copy of Practical Psychic Self-Defense by Robert Bruce. If you already have a copy, look at pages 21 thru 23.

On those pages Robert writes:

"A haunted house is best defined as a place in which paranormal phenomena regularly occur. Earthbound spirits with afterlife problems and/or unfinished business in the physical world are the most popular reasons given today to explain haunted houses. This type of information is usually gathered by psychics called in to investigate. Evidence and information is usually vague and sketchy, but haunting spirit's first name, age, and some basic details of a traumatic event that happened there will often be pieced together by the psychic."

"Haunted houses usually contain cold spots at which paranormal activity is centered. This can be likened to an interdimensional flow or doorway, or something like a static core image. A core image is a subconscious trauma image memory that generates negative energy; and Negs use these to influence people. (Note: Negs are Robert's term for unwholesome spirits or negatives. That is, all spiritual beings that have a negative effect upon humans.) The cold spots exist independently of people and occupy particular geographical locations and parts of buildings situated over them. The cold spots - there are often several - in haunted houses canresult from traumatic or high energy events experienced by people who used to live there. For example, persons may have been murdered, had their heart "broken", or committed suicide in that place. These events formed an interdimensional link strong enough to cause a haunting."

"Yet interdimensional doorways do not always form, even in places where the worst types of murders have occurred. This indicates there is more to the haunted house equation than meets the eye. Other factors must be involved, such as the location of the house, power line and electrical wiring configurations, and other natural anomalies like gravity fluctuations, geological stress points, or underground streams."

"Common apparitions often involve innocuous scenes from everyday life, such as ghostly figures carrying out mundane tasks. When contacted by psychics, the ghosts are always extremely vague about who they are and why they are there; it's possible many of these so-called spirits are actually astral shells left behind after death. Astral shells are thought-forms, not earthbound spirits, that do not contain the spirit essences or souls of the persons they once belonged to. The energy anomalies in haunted houses animate these shells and cause them to manifest."

"The repititious phenomena observed in the haunted house often can be a repeat of the original event involved in creating the interdimensional doorway; like an echo of the past event caught in a repeating loop. For example, a ghostly face might be frequently seen peering down from an upstairs window. The ghost's physical self may have died in that room, or something traumatic may have happened to her in that part of the house."

The above is but an excerpt from PPSD. There is more on this subject in the book, and I would invite you to pick up a copy (if you don't already have one) and take a look at pages 21-23.

Thanks, I'll see if I can eventually find a copy when I'm back home... I'm interested quite specifically in the relationship between OBE/projection and ghosts and spirits, which the excerpt you posted touches on a little (thank you). I know a fair share about ghosts and hauntings, but trying to reconcile it all with AP is the tricky thing. Also how ghosts differ from other spirits or whathaveyou's which a person might come across during projection, and why or whether they may not see one another yet interact with me, etc.  

That sort of thing.

Yes, Robert Bruce covers obes relative to spirits a number of times in PPSD. He also details such things as astral combat with negs, while in the dream or obe state, specifically on pages 240 and 241. Here is a link to the book:

Hi everyone... hope I've put this in the right place.  I've been trying to read up as much as possible between rehearsals & travel and so far this seems a good place.  But it's sort of a silly question, maybe.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what they think about where so-called earthbound spirits, i.e. ghosts "live."  I may seem a bit ghost pre-occupied; it's true-- this is because, particularly lately, I keep finding myself in situations where ghosts are at issue.  This has coincided with an increased independence of AP-type activity, and I've found more answers & possible explanations on this board that resonate with me than on more ghosty boards (plus I'm not a psychic, which those boards orient more towards).  So I beg your patience.

The building where I am staying these past few weeks is ancient and, big shocker, haunted.  I've had some run-ins, and spoke to other people who have lived here who corroborated; I surely don't speak the same language these spirits did/do, but I'm sure we understand each other perfectly.  Reading about people's run ins with various spirits during exit or AP is what brought my question to mind:

A while back I had a big ole AP back at home, where I also have a friendly house ghost, I startled a young man "living" there.  As in, he knew I was there, and I wasn't supposed to see him.  I don't believe this was my house ghost, but I believe the young man has been dwelling there for a very long time, and knew me from observation, based on our interactions-- though he would not speak me to me or answer my questions.  The first time, he was surprised and watched me move about.  The second time, he appeared more like my actual real-life roommate, still didn't speak, but I knew it wasn't my roommate but the same young man, and he did approach me and attempt to usher me into the other bedroom and help me to walk (I was having great difficulty).  I became worried that he was going to try to molest me of all things, so I stopped the AP and woke up.  So silly.  

Now I wonder who this was that knew my apartment so well, who knew me, and yet was not, as far as I could tell or feel, my house ghost.  And where WAS my house ghost, who usually is so protective and editorialises! Where are these entities dwelling?  

Any thoughts or musings welcome.  Sorry for the long-windedness, I was up till 4 trying to not be afraid of the noises here.  Eek.
