It's been a few months since my last AP, and even then it was through a lucid dream. So for the past 2 nights I've been trying to consciously do it. It doesn't take me long to get relaxed, I usually just listen to a soft song on repeat for about 10 minutes, then lay in bed and for a few more minute and I'm good. I haven't gotten vibrations yet, but I've noticed that my whole body goes numb and I have a pins and needles sort of feeling. When I breath I feel like my chest rises and falls a foot or more. Last night I started hearing a buzzing/popping noise in my ears. Is that good? Am I on the right track? Eventually it continued until I started having weird visions and dream sort of things. I managed to shake that, and as I was laying there totally conscious I came back to when I heard what sounded like my very recent ex shout my name twice. So I just gave up for the night and slept.
But is the numb feeling good? It felt like it was going to progress into vibrations but I wasn't sure. And the popping/buzz noises? What should I expect to come after this?
Those things happen as your body relaxes and enters trance. You're coming close. Hearing things like pops and buzzes and your name is an excellent sign. You should have persisted. Don't really focus all your attention on those things, just let them naturally arise and pass - I wouldn't expect something particular to happen, like vibes. If they do, they do, but expectations can also hinder. If you get through that and into a deep trance you can begin an exit technique. It sounds like you are definitely on the right track.

It all seems very similar to where I'm at right now.
Especially the chest feeling like it's going a foot or more away from your body.
I also had one very small mini dream..
Lasted for about 4 seconds.
Though it wasn't all too clear, I still could tell exactly what was happening.
Awesome! I'm glad that I got so far in only 2 days.
