Hey I'm new here! For quite some time now i have been trying to get answers as to what has been happening to me. It started about four years a go. Right when I am starting to dose off maybe five minutes my body starts to feel very weird. I am alert the whole time, and the only reason I am is because it hurts. My head begins to feel like there is a whole lot of pressure, my body begins to tingle and I can hear a whole lot of humming sounds, almost like voices. It almost feels like something is holding me down in my bed because I can not move. I often try to wait it out and breath because since I have been reading up on different things that this could be that's what it tells me to do. When I do wait it out I either wake up or this one time I think I actually, it sounds crazy I think, but i think I actually began to float in my room, I actually remember going into the living room as well. I am 22 years old, a social worker, am I crazy or is this actually what I think it is. Can I actually be Astral Projecting. When I was little I used to experience many Night terrors as well. Please respond someone so that I know if I am crazy or have a gift!
Have been naturally projecting for many year,(least thats what i think it is). Love to communicate with others to maybe get some answers and share experiences I have had!

Hi sassyger

It sounds like projecting.  When you say doze off, I assume you mean you are very close to sleep?  I'm unsure about the fact that it hurts.  Can you explain?  Is it literally painful?  The sensations you experience (the pressure in your head, the tingling and the noises) are all very common symptoms of OBEs.  I've had all those, but nothing that hurts – I have experienced the sensation of pain in my second body, but it hasn't hurt, if that makes any sense to you?  Also the feeling of being held down.  Either this is sleep paralysis (do a search – you'll find lots of thread about it), or it is another symptom – I occasionally get the sensation that I've got about half a dozen blankets on me when I'm about to project – and it's a struggle to get out of my physical body.

Waiting it out is good – keeping calm and just going with the flow is what I would advise you to do.

It sounds like you are having OBEs (out of body experiences) and you simply don't know what is happening to you.

You're not crazy – something very normal is happening to you – but the difference between you and other people is that you are AWARE it is happening – which is a gift to a lot of members who are desperately trying to achieve what you seem to experience naturally!

What I can tell you is that if you wish to explore it further, some amazing things can happen!

Feel free to ask any more questions – and if you'd prefer to send a private message to me, that's fine too.

Sarah
We all find nonsenses to believe in; it's part of being alive.

That's pretty much how it started for me too. I can particularly relate to the part about keeping alert. I did that, watching out for the vibrations (possibly the unpleasant things you are feeling in your head) when falling alseep. The first time it happened to me I thought I was having a brain haemorage, it scared me that much. But it  is not painfull, although I thought it was to start with (when you wake does the sensation disapear in your head and you feel quite normal, if a little shaken?). It is not nice (or necessary to have them to project, which is good news). There's also often a feeling of pressure in different  parts of my body, that again can be mistaken for physical pain.

I didn't realise it at the time, but the alertness was making things worse, because I was keeping myself conscious, therefore more likely to vibe and project. Most people don't experience this ever, i think, or maybe a few times in their lives. They fall asleep and lose consciousness. I was 'watching out' and getting more and more vibes. Consciousness means you are more likely to witness your own vibes coming on.

As Sarah says, a lot of people wantttt to feel what you are feeling, so you could say you are lucky if you wish to explore this fine natural phenonema.

I'd say gift not crazy too.

Steve.

Thank you guys who have responded. It always feels nice to be reassured! I guess to re-term the "pain" example that I have used, I guess it would be more uncomfortable. When I wake up I feel fine, just a nervous wreck for awhile as it is very overwhelming. I am a true believer of  psychic Sylvia Brown. She discusses astral projection quite often yet she does not like it. I can't say that I don't enjoy when this happens as I know that projecting, if succeeded can be a wonderful experience. I know that the one time that I think i astral projected it was almost a feeling of being free and comfortable. Like many many people to days society is a very stressful place to be living. I know that once I get past the first initial phase of projecting I will appreciate it more. It may also be a good sense of relaxation. Sylvia Brown also says that night terrors are people experiencing past lives, this is interesting. Maybe I do have a gift, maybe once I learn more about this "gift" I will be able to appreciate myself more as well. So once again thank you for those who are responding and I will for sure keep yous updated as to how I am doing with it.
P.S Usually only occurs when I fall asleep on my back! Weird stuff the human body and mind is capable of experiencing.
