Hey guys, I'm a 17-year-old girl and I've always studied astral projection, it's something I've always found fascinating, yet I've never attempted it, til 3 days ago. It was around 3am, I was fully awake still for some reason and decided I'd try to astral project, I found myself laying flat on my back, undisturbed, clear mind, focused on my breathing, then I felt my body go numb, heat exerting from my body, I felt strange waves overcome me here and there, and then after a while I felt my first experience of vibrations. But that was the part I hadn't studied much of, so I grew excited and opened my eyes suddenly, and it ended.

I attempted to get back into that vibrational state the last two days, but haven't quite gotten there. I've gotten to the point where my body is relaxed and numb, yet I'm fully aware of my surroundings and breathing. I can't seem to get back to that vibrational state. I was wondering, do you HAVE to get into sleep paralysis to astral project? I had a sleep paralysis experience once, it wasn't that pleasant, but I remember looking at a hallucination ...a demon or whatever and thinking for a split second, "f***off" hahah...but still, I want to understand better, because I have this strong want to see a certain thing on an astral travel.

Help please ?

Hi Kammynx.
The vibrational state is not the end-all in this practice- it is a state that you sometimes are aware of when you transition from physical to nonphysical, but it doesn't always happen at transition time (or is not always perceived) and sometimes isn't perceived at all- you could say it doesn't always happen.
So I recommend you find other markers that tell you you're ready for an OBE exit, such as the feeling of movement, slow hypnagogics, or other types of clues.
Waiting for vibes may not be your best bet.

Hi Kammynx,

Welcome to the Astral Pulse.
I wrote a small post about Vibrations on my blog.  I'll link it here for you:  http://unlimitedboundaries.ca/2010/09/07/vibrations/

QuoteOne of the big things that confused me most about Astral Projections were what people call the Vibrations.
How do you use them to your advantage to successfully project?

Well, the answer is you DON'T use them.  They're nothing more than a signpost that reads, "you're doing fine, just keep doing what you're doing".
I'll explain...

People generally sit/lie there waiting for these "vibrations" to kick in.  This is the first mistake.  They're not a goal in itself... you might be one of the people who never experiences them.  Does that mean you can not project?  Not at all!  Because they're not something you NEED to project.  They're just a sticky note along the consciousness continuum that tells you to keep doing what you're doing.

Back when I was practicing the more Classic OBE methods (where you feel a distinct separation) I used to get them quite often, and my mistake was to focus on them, trying to "expand" them (whatever that means, nobody ever explained that one satisfactorily to me either) and what ended happening was that they would pass by, and I'd get frustrated because I was STILL in my body.  In the end, I gave up on having Classic OBEs because I found that they just never work well for me.  :)

The form of projection I do is called Phasing.  Phasing is interesting, because, for the most part, you'll never experience Vibrations... and this, I find, confuses people a lot more, since everyone tells them that you must experience these to project.  With Phasing, you're shifting your awareness away from the physical towards the non-physical, there are no vibrations or "exit sensations" that you would normally get with Classic OBE methods.

There's no point along the phasing line where you'll ever feel any vibrations.  You're just "Here", you shift, then you're "There".  At this point though, confusingly, some people do report feeling them... I believe that the people who are experiencing Vibrations after they've phased are simply "expecting" them, and since they're already "out of body" at this point, they're already in the astral and we all know that Thought = Direct Action, this means that they will experience that which they expect to experience.

The same holds true for people who find themselves in a Lucid Dream and they begin to feel Vibrations.  They're only feeling them because they're expecting to feel them, someone told them that they'll experience them.  If you're already in a dream, then they're now PAST the point where Vibrations can naturally manifest and they're now being subconsciously created out of expectations.

The only time you'll feel them is if you're Lucid Dreaming and you shift yourself back to your physical body in an attempt to have a Focus 1 (RTZ) projection, THEN you will feel Vibrations, because you've returned to your physical body first.  But if you're already out, there's no need to go through all that.  Instead of shifting back to your physical body, you shift yourself somewhere else in the physical instead.

In any case, if for whatever reason I'm trying a Classic OBE method and I do feel them, I simply note that they happened and move on.

If your goal is to feel Vibrations, you'll end up waiting for a while.

My vibrations starts maby 3 seconds after I start to the relaxation process.  Is this normal? Or maby is it because too much practise?

When I clear my mind these vibrations are decreasing and I'm fastly "going" to trance, when some thoughts starts to invade my mind, the vibrations are increasing and the "energy" is congregating in my limbs. I think the vibrations are all pure thoughts and  the physical reflection of our thoughts. So vibrations are something that we must get rid of not to look after. And the only method is clearing our mind and relaxing our soul. That's my opinion

Hey guys, thanks for replying. Hm, it seems different for everyone, huh? I tried again last night and got into a very deep stage of relaxation, I didn't get to the vibrations, but I felt completely numb, and at one point my heart was pumping so fast, but I remained calm. I think I would of gotten very far if it weren't for my mom's boyfriend suddenly waking up in the middle of the night, I snapped right out of the trance. Can anyone explain to me the fast heartbeating? I was sweating I recall. It's strange but, even as I'm awake, my body feels numb here and there, maybe that's normal.

It could be due to anxiety (adrenalin, sympathetic autonomous nervous system discharge, also justifies the sweating). But it could also be your heart chacra being activated. Possibly both. With time you'll be able to tell when it's only your heart going nuts and when it's your heart chacra pumping.

I've created a blog of some sort: http://pursuingconscience.blogspot.com/

Re

From what I have read and experienced, the fast beating it's not your heart. I'm talking about some insanely high pulse rate. It's just one of the sensations that overcome you during the process, just like the vibrations. If you feel like spending one try to check it out, you can open your eyes as you start to feel that and check your pulse rate.
