1st OBE confusion

This morning i had my first OBE experience, ( hurray )  it left me with a plate of emotions and questions as i'm sure you could imagine.  I am relatively new to this whole experience, teaching and the AP community!

Well like many 1st OBEs it began with vibrations, mild enough ones, but very noticeable.  I could then hear people screaming and what sounded like growling noises, my astral legs slipped out of my body first at a 45degree angle however my torso area and head seemed stuck.  I encountered some resistance but used the roll out technique which worked like a charm!  Once out of my body the vibrations stopped and so did the screaming, this all happened very fast, infact it seemed to be simultaneously (the screamings, vibrations and the exiting) happening!

Once out of my body i began to float upwards and in circles, bouncing into walls along the way to the ceiling where i flipped over and seen myself in the bed ( i could not see my face, only the outline of my body under the sheets and in the position i had slept).  My view was greyscale and had dream like qualities.  It was at this point when i thought to myself "hey, lets try do some cool stuff".  I tried to run around my room at a 90degree angle to the walls but failed miserably!! I ended up spinning through walls and found it hard to direct where i  wanted to go while floating ( This reminded me of when i was skydiving at first and attempting to stabilize myself during freefall ) I then floated my astral body back to my physical body but didn't wake up to my surprise, as i thought i would!

I got out of my bed and walked around the house, ( in a lucid dream state at this point, i think!?) as i walk around i get this sensation that i want to leave my body, this happens about 4/5 times, but i resist it and stay lucid (controlling my dream and walking around as i please) I am very confused at this stage, so i take a look out side my front door hoping that i will see my estate and it will shed some light on this confusion.  I open my door and sure enough i see my estate, the street lights are pulsating and for the 1st time i can see colour vividly, which it did not have the greyscale quality as before.

As i am looking at the lights a woman walks past me and asks "where is that house i wanted to buy"  I found this REALLY weird as yesterday i had a dream where i was at my front door and the same woman asked me directions to a house....

So i can try figure out and explore most of the experience by research, but i have two questions:

1. How did i manage to exit my physical body into my astral body, then from my astral body enter back into my physical body which turned into a lucid dream? usually a lucid dream sparks an exit into an astral body, i seemed to have reversed this process, and should i have woken up if i re entered my physical body from my astral body? i'm confused more than anything...

2. Are dreams and lucid dreams connected? are they a dyad? when i first saw the woman in my normal dream asking me directions that was fine, as dreams can be weird and it was just a normal dream to me, however when i was lucid dreaming i felt almost like i was connected, in the same energy space as that woman, were these two episodes related, surely this must mean that there is some connecting undertone to all experiences that are experienced and this particular experience in question; astral body to lucid dreaming and viva versa, and also the connection of dreams and lucid dreams.... again CONFUSION.

3. And what is this connecting undertone?

Finally i would like to show my appreciation to all the AP community for sharing their information, experiences and knowledge.

Greetings openmind

Congrats on your first OBE. Yes it does feel good and yes, it Does leave you with a Lot of questions.
The roll out method is the Best technique for going out of body (OOB)(other than through a lucid dream (LD)).
Confusion and disorientation Are normal for inexperienced projectors. You actually did rather well.
Regarding those questions.
1.The OBE ended when you returned to you physical body. You might have been able to go OOB again. But apparently your astral awareness/consciousness was none too clear and the opportunity passed by. At that point there is probably not much of a difference between an OBE and LD anyway. There IS a difference, but when that close to the physical body the difference is probably only a minor shift in awareness of self and a degree of clarity.
2. Dreams and LDs Are closely connected. The big difference is that in a LD a person is aware that they are dreaming, while in a normal, non-lucid dream the person thinks that the dream is the only reality.
3.The connecting undertone is experience. With more experience comes the ability to induce LDs and OBEs and consciously shift between them both at will. This ability will eliminate most, but probably not all, of the confusion that confronted you on this occasion.

Well i was aware while i was lucid that i could go OOB again, infact i felt myself beginning to go OOB 4/5 times but i resisted it! Is it normal to go from OOB to a LD?

and when i mentioned the connecting undertone, i kind of meant that there must be something connecting everything (OBE, LD, astral projections, etc) together, maybe it is all just a conscious experience in your mind? or something different where you transcend into a different state/realm.... i realise there will probably be many different answers to my second question! but some light on it would be nice.

thanking you

In my opinion they're the same thing.
If you lost a bit of awareness for whatever reason, then it would have been a Lucid Dream.
And yes, it's very normal for your conscious awareness to vary... sometimes greatly during a single experience.  :)

Thanks Xanth! and could i get your opinion on my second question, or even point me towards a relevant information source as regards to a "connecting undertone" to this whole area... that is if one exists... im trying to find a common element that connects all this together.  :?

The connecting undertone, as per my own idea is this... Physical, non-physical, projection, obe, lucid dream, dream, etc... they're really all the same experience (yup, I lumped this physical reality into it, that's not a typo ;)).

There's just consciousness and the data that we perceive.  When I say "data" I don't mean data like bytes in a computer... the data is simply the stuff that we're interpreting to create that which is around us.  I'm using the word "data" as a metaphor to describe the "stuff" around us that our consciousness is processing that creates our reality.

So yeah, that's my "connecting undertone": We're just consciousness.

ahhhh very interesting you say dat, as what you describe seems to be of the same opinion of Dr. Edgar Mitchell in his book "The Way of The Explorer", if you haven't read it i'd encourage you to read it, i can post it to you if your interested ( once u return it of course  :-P ) He talks about the minds connection with the body and how they interact, analysing it from scientific and spiritual view points...  sooo i was kind of leaning towards that explanation!
