Hello all

I had an amazing morning today  :-)

By way of background, I am currently reading "The Art of Dreaming" by Carlos Castaneda.  I had finished the chapter about the second gate of dreaming before retiring to bed.  In the second gate, you have to look at dream items briefly and then focus on a distant object, thereby travelling from one dream to another with your faculties in tact.  The focusing on the distant objects should send you there (i.e. to the 'next' dream).

This morning, I awoke, went to the bathroom, returned and lay in bed relaxing.

I must have had 6 consecutive phasing experiences.  Nothing to do with separating from the physical, but seeing a dream image in my mind and then stepping into it, fully lucid.  In between each one, I semi woke up, but remained in that 'dreamy, slightly not with it' zone.  I managed to re-enter some dreams.

During the whole session, one of my arms was aching due to being in a slightly awkward position.  I knew I couldn't move it as this would break the spell.  During one of the phasing sessions, I stepped into the dream and thought about my physical arm, noting that it was still aching, while I was in the dream.

Anyway, here is one of the six experiences.  I'm still a bit gobsmacked to be honest and am not too sure what to make of it.

I was in another place.  I did the exercise again about looking at dream items.  I saw a hill in the distance and zoomed there.  Then I looked around again.  I saw a sea and a man sat on the sea wall.  He had a dog on a lead, I think it was a British bulldog.  As I looked at his face, it came more into view and I recognised him from the dreaming world, but I didn't know how I knew him.  He was an old friend, someone I was very close to.

I willed myself to him and said, "I know you – how do I know you?"

For some reason, I had zoomed to him but I didn't stop, I carried on zooming past him.  This was not my intention.

He said, "I am Ameth, Sarah"

I felt myself moving away from him and telepathically asked him what was meant by his comment, as it didn't make sense to me.

I'd already zoomed too far away and woken before he could respond.

At first, I thought he'd said, "I am a Meth, Sarah", but later on in the day I thought again and googled Ameth.  I can honestly say that consciously, I have never heard of the word Ameth and assumed it had no meaning...

Google

"Ameth" is Hebrew for "truth." The Sigil of Ameth (or Sigillum Dei Aemeth) is best known as the large, complex circular symbol, with six pointed figures and the names of God and various angels incribed thereon. It is best known in relation to the Enochian workings of Dr. John Dee, as he was instructed to re-create it by angels he contacted during his scrying sessions with Edward Kelly. (The sigil predates Dee, having first appeared in a thirteenth century grimoire; it was later expanded upon by Athanasius Kircher.)

There is also a website www.ameth.org.uk which is about Ameth Lodge.  The home page states:

"Ordo Templi Orientis, the Order of Oriental Templars, or Order of the Temple of the East is dedicated to the high purpose of securing the Liberty of the Individual and his or her advancement in Light, Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge, and Power through Beauty, Courage, and Wit, on the Foundation of Universal Brotherhood.

Interesting huh?  I wonder if I just met my first "angel"?!

That's very interesting Sarah. I wonder what the guy was thinking when you just kept of came by and then just kept of going.

I know that The O.T.O. is an occult group founded by Aleister Crowley, who was an unbalanced drug addict and thought he was the antichrist (like many other unbalanced cult leaders.)

Melfina

That book is amazing, a truly must read.  After reading it I too had some very interesting dream experiences.
Dance like it's your last.

That's beautiful. I'm reading Astral Voyages by Dr. Goldberg. Not tried it as my hubby is away and I know my mind is too centered on the children. But what a wonderful experience that must have been. I've had dreams where they have profound meaning (I walked among the lions - in a dream taking the scary path and came out victorious!), I spoke with my Dead Pap and he told me he was all right, I spoke with my dead Grandma and she told me to go back and get the saucer because what's a teacup without a saucer. ONly to find her set of dessert plates and cups gathering dust in her daughter's (my mother's) garage. I didn't go looking for them but that same weekend my Mother was "cleaning" out her garage and they caught my eye. I asked about them and why she would have such lovely dishes in the garage. Told me I could have them and she said they were my grandmother's. Now they sit on my grandma's hutch - probably just as when she lived.

Stookie - the guy was probably thinking, "what the hell is she doing?!!".  Don't think I'll be joining the Ameth Lodge then...  :-P

Melfina - yes, I continue to enjoy it immensely.  I don't go along with a lot of what is said, but some of the dreaming tips are really useful.

Golden Light - it was amazing, but only really after I'd awoken and read up about the word Ameth.  At the time, it was such a brief, frustrating experience.  Your experiences sound wonderful!  I love the lion dream.  I assume by walking the scary path, you faced your fears and overcame them.

Sarah,

The lion dream was an amazing and clear, vivid wonderful dream. I remember it to this day. I had been debating about whether to ask for a raise at work (which was a nightmare place at the time) or to just quit. The dream came to me and when I woke - I was energized - and ready to take on the world. I asked for a $3,000 raise (double what I hoped for) and got $2,000, I believe. The place was still hell to work there but it showed me that I could get what I wanted regardless of the fear I felt inside.  I have always always hated and feared asking for money from ANYONE.  It was a lovely dream.

i think that perhaps you should do your research, Crowley was a drug 'fiend' as i believe they call it, however, he never claimed to be the 'antichrist' or 'satan' et al...in fact all thelemic preachings etc are based back from experiences by Crowley or experiences learnt from a british occult group known as the Golden Dawn...and wait a sec...isnt this an occult group (this board certainly has occult leanings...pagan...occult...pagan/occult...haha??

ken

p.s. - the 'occult' would never be so well connected if it wern't for Mr Crowley...you should certainly read some books on how places like this came to be ... have a nice day :)

I think some education is sorley needed here in terminology...i also need some spelling lessons ... haha

I've had this on my bookshelf for years but never read read it, I don't know why.  A few days ago it caught my eye and I got to wondering why I'd bought it but never bothered to read it.  This was just before I noticed this thread.  Coincidence of course, but I think I'll be giving it a read in the next week or so.

Crowley called himself "The Beast", referring to the antichrist. Whether he actually believed he was, who knows. Crowley was involved with a number of occult groups before he founded the OTO. He created short-cut paths that skip over important lessons so a person could experience without wisdom and knowledge. Of course his words deny that, but if you do enough research, it's well documented in theosophical and occult literature. Thelema is nothing more than egotism.

Occult means "hidden", and there was nothing said that implicated "occult" to be negative. I was just knocking a opium-smoking, drug-addled occultist and his egotistical teachings.

I apologize if my one sentence on Crowley wasn't informative enough.

Right lets clear up a few things

1) Uncle Al Crowley did not found the OTO . He was originaly a member of the Golden Dawn, was recruited by one  Theodor Reuss (http://www.oto-uk.org/OTO-history.php)
2) The OTO is not a cult (its lovely honest ) . A cult depends upon manipulation and control of members under a dictatorial leadership. Nothing of this occurs within an organisation that works on the priniciples of Thelema (again Uncle Al didnt invent this either http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thelema)
3) Yes he had a drug problem , as he himself admited cuased by experimentation and a belief that if a person were innocent he could overcome the effects ( herionwas prescriped to him for his ashma)
4) To Mega Therion or in english BEast describes one of his magikical identities as a male phalic force . in Thelmic cosomologey (not too dissimilar to say Taosim ) we have male (Hadit) and female (Nuit ) principles being brought together . Balance being the key to discover ones will (or Thelema).  666 is a solar number not as demonised by christian one refering originaly to the christian devil (now Lucifer maybe (or Promethius )). And to say he took many shortcuts in his mystical works well , have you even seen the Equinox volume 1 (never mind the numerous Liber's written )

What you say about Thelema is amusing , and well basicly incorrect . As it is an expresion of discovering one's own will then each individual must find many methods and ways . Ego and will seem tied together but to understand one you must embrace the other.

Now Sleski , you maye have very well come across what can be called your HGA (personal angel higher self etc ). YOur truth of being , and as its yours and yours alone its down to you how you interact and communicate with it.

You might want to drop Ameth lodge an email if your intrested (the link above is for their website)again lovely people (i should know i was a member untill last year :D(i just moved to another camp) .

Or even better research yourself .

I'm going to lock this thread as it is way off topic. Myyyyy mistake! I'll let Selski open it back up if she cares to discuss it any more.
