I'm not sure what to make of this

Hi all,

I'm long time lurker, first time poster.

I've been trying to AP for about a week now, and on the 7th day I believe that I may have APed but I'm unsure. I started with relaxation while laying there thinking of nothing other than being at a different location.

At this stage, I was also falling asleep. I was told not to do it prior to going to bed at night, however, I did it anyhow. Soon after I woke in the middle of a highway in the midst of the night sky. As a car approached me, I had a sense that I was going be struck. Sure enough, the car struck me and I immediately woke up. I don't recall having a physical body when I was struck.

I'm not sure if this was a dream or an AP. I say that because I've never experienced a dream that felt so real. I wasn't 100% conscious of my surroundings but I knew it was more than just a dream. It was the fact that one moment I was sleeping then the next I woke up in a highway which really surprised me.

All this happened within 15 minutes from the time I attempted my AP.  Also, I never felt the vibrational affects that many speak of. I don't think I felt anything at all other than appearing at another location with my semi-consciousness.

Weird experience.

Hello and Welcome to the Astral Pulse!   :-)

It sounds like the 7th day was indeed a good one for you. You had a very brief sneak peek of the NPR Non Physical Reality/Realms. But this is very common with most people that have their first consciously aware visit. You can learn to stay longer by "grounding" yourself there. This happens when you start engaging your senses to interact with the scenario. Like for example picking up a leaf, or in your case, listening to the sound of the car that was approaching you.

The fact that that car went through you, is teaching you that you don't have a physical body in the NPR. You are consciousness and don't need one. That's a great lesson to learn early in this practice. We try to tell people this, but until you experience it for yourself, it's really hard to understand and believe what we are saying.

Now that you have gotten a glimpse, ALLOW your curiosity to bring you back for more!  :wink:

@Lionheart

Thank you.

It has been two days now since my experience. Unfortunately, I find it soo hard repeating what I've done. I will continue to practice this on a daily basis and most definitely ground myself the next time around.

Lionheart

 I wouldn't necessarily worry about "grounding" right now. Just try to get familiar with the "shift" in general.

The grounding will come after you start to become a "regular"!  :wink:

Hi and welcome to the Pulse.
Don't worry about not getting certain sensations.
They can be there or not, it doesn't matter anyway it's the destination that counts.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

AP/Dream/Lucid Dream...it all fits under pretty much the same heading, at least in the beginning, so don't worry too much about splitting hairs.

You set your Intent. Then you had a consciousness "click out". And regained your awareness within a lucid dream (or at least semi-lucid).

Way to go! Took me a lot longer than a week to do that!

Now do it some more and start getting your feet wet. Have fun!

Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

@Szaxx

Thank you. I will try to focus on relaxation and imagery of different locations rather than the tell-tale signs.

@EscapeVelocity

Thanks! But I find this very difficult to mimic the first success. I've been falling asleep with every attempt during the late evenings.

Also, I've tried the "early morning" method along with the afternoon attempts, but still nothing has happened. I would sit/lay there with wondering thoughts if anything would happen.

have you tried using meditation inbetween states, its helped me alot,if you combine  meditation with phasing it helps to let go and relax more.

CFTraveler

I hate to break it to you, but phasing is meditation, with a purpose other than emptiness.
Why?
