I would suggest simply keep on doing what you have been doing. Seems to work. :)
As you do, simply gather experience. Become more experienced with the stages of trance and meditation/relaxation practices. The deeper trance you can achive, the better the OBE.
Positive mind-set is essential to OBE. I suspect the yoga classes serve to 'purify' your spirit adaquately to OBE. By this I mean that you efforts focus your will.

Interesting, probably everyone has a certain pattern, technique, timing that works best for them. I usually do most of obe activity before the full moon. Yoga seems like the perfect obe tool because it is a combination of mental focus with body relaxation techniques-at least tradition styles were though there are more intensly physical stuff that is popular these days. What kind are you doing? Have you ever left the house? That line about going into wonderland is interesting.Is there experiences that led to that conclusion?
I belive it is just general yoga for beginners, we dont focus too much on breath work or chanting, mostly just the poses
As far as leaving the house. cant do it. Made it to the ceiling once, that was the highest point, but as soon as i leave the front door my awareness drops and i enter something like a dream, meaning i walk through the door and the front yard is not there, rather a dream scape lacking the details and senses that are normally associated w/ the real time zone.
I really want to go outside, i feel constrained in my house, a wide open space would be nice to practice flying and ect...Plus there is so much furniture (much of it not there in the physical) that i hang out in the kitchen which got boring after the third time.
It is very interesting that you should mention this. I have just started a yoga class and so far every week either the same night or night after the class I am able to OBE. The odd thing is that I've been practicing yoga and meditation on my own before I started taking classes and only now am I having fully aware OBEs. I can't see a thing and I can hardly move an inch, but I can get out. Usually the whole night I will be able to get out as many times as I want to.
i had that same problem the first few times, the astral blindness gets better with practice but im still pulling myself out rather then lifting out like most pepole.
Sunnie, I think your experiences illustrate two points: obe's seem to occur after we do something to raise our energy level(yoga or meditation) and the first experiences just aren't that great.
Questions- have you ever stared at things till they totally melted and do you walk or fly while you have obe's?
i would like to obe in physical realm but dont have any sucess any help out there??????????PLEASE
Well, I wont bore you with a long post about my obes, I have only been APing for about 3 months and so far I have never even really left my house, but I have made some observations on the times when I have the experiences.
I practiced OBE without a real success for about 2 months striaght(once a night and sometimes during the day also). I then took a break for a while but I had signed up for yoga to help learn meditation and to relieve everyday stress and tensions. Another three months went by and that is when I started to wake up in the appropriate state for an easy obe.
Now I obe once a week on the same night as my yoga class, when I skip a class I do not obe that week.
This Tuesday night I went to yoga, later that night I woke up in the appropriate and state and even had the sensation that I was being pulled on but I was tired of the paralysis and had bad dreams that I still needed to recover from the night before so I went back to sleep. The next night I had the same sensation and decided to go through with the obe.
This pattern is consistent that if I skip yoga, no obe. If I skip the OBE it will come again usually the next night.
Anyways I recommend yoga, especially for people who are still learning.
Here is a very short summary of my latest OBE. I climbed out the usual way of grabbing the bottom of my bed. This time I concentrated on seeing in my room, which was not completely dark this time (I could see faintly) and for some odd reason I went on this obe without the intention of trying to wake early (like I mentioned I was tired of being locked into paralysis). I decided to try tasting in the astral so I went to my kitchen and ate some coffee cake and glass of milk, tasted good [:P] I then basically fiddled around for a while until I lost awareness and blacked out into a new dream. I tried out the technique of focusing on one object to gain awareness but the whole wall started swaying and melting so I stopped.
Any ideas on what i should do next, i feel like small steps are important but there is only so much i can do in my kitchen and i cant leave the house without going into wonderland
