My fiancee shared with me an interesting experience that happened to her.
She was going through a rather difficult time in her life and a friend suggested that she visit a person who could do some "body work" on her. So she went to visit this person. In a large room were several individuals who were all there to get some work. They all laid face down on what looked like massage tables. The lady told my fiancee that she was going to touch a few places (chakras? I'm not too familiar with this). The lady gently touched my fiancee on various places on her spine. Next she began to touch the soles of the feet, and my fiancee said as soon as the lady did this to her on the feet she found her self in complete darkness and was flying head first into what seemed like outer space (bright flashes of light moving past her very very fast...stars?). The movement she felt was that she was moving forward head first extremely fast and could "see" the lights streaking by.
She came out of it suddenly only to find that the lady had gone well into the next few "patients" (or whatever). She looked over and saw that the lady was touching the soles of the feet of a male next to her and the male was shaking very violently.
What the hell was all of this?!?
Thanks for any input.

Wow, I've never gone in for anything like that myself.  But I recall overhearing someone I know talking about a similar experience.  Some kind of alternative massage, I can't remember what.  But she said it created a very shocking and vivid flying-head-first-through-space feeling.  She said it was frightening, but very energizing afterward.

Sorry I can't give an explanation or any first-hand info, but apparently, your fiancee isn't the only one who has had that kind of experience.  And apparently the practitioners don't take the time to prepare their clients for it!  I've heard of various therapies (qi gong, acupuncture, etc.) that have remarkable physiological effects, but nothing like that.

Must have been one heck of a massage!! Has your fiancee been active with astral projection in the past, or was this all new to her?

Kinda of reminds me of what Don Juan performed on Carlos Castaneda as he would shift his assemblage point to another level of consciousness.

Have other people discussed this, witness the same effect? Maybe this was the first time with your fiancee and she didn't know how to react? Think about it - you can ready all the books in the world on astral projection, but nothing can really prepare you for the first experience. It will be either scary or amazing.

Exactly what I would like to know. very interesting. Although this is possible to do for those of you who do not know what a chakra is,

QuoteOne of the seven centers of spiritual energy in the human body according to yoga philosophy.

You can perorm many things utilizing the chakras and what I am assuming is this so called "massage therapist" knew how to stimulate those chakras. Please ask your fiancee what it was called she went too.

Hi there,

I don't believe that the massage therapist intended this to happen.... It was most probably a stroke of good luck !

The massaging of the feet did remind me of the "christos" technique. If you are unaware of it, see here...

I'm sure you'll find it interesting !!

There have been so many posts lately that relate to the book I just reviewed! It's starting to make me feel like I'm plugging it, but indeed a similar experience was reviewed in the book where the author collected too much energy and went into a sort of seizure. He had to ground himself and one of the instructors at The Monroe Institute touched him on various parts of his back.

Also, I've had other experience with this in a martial arts setting. It has to do with energy work/healing, but I don't know any of the details.

Very interesting stuff.

Thanks for all the input!
My finacee just told me that all she remembers about the experience (which took place about 9 years ago) is:

-she was lying on her stomach
-the practicioner didn't say anything about what would take place
-the practicioner gently touhced her on various spots along the spine
-the practicioner began touching the soles of the feet "in a pattern", then began touching her feet in a pattern much quicker and harder (almost like how someone punches in a phone number), and began then rubbing the feet in a spot very quickly and kinda hard
-then she "found" herself quickly flying headfirst into what seemed like outer space with lights like stars zooming past her
-she woke up only to find that the practicioner had already moved on to the next patient who at that moment was being worked on and was shaking (though he was "not conscious").

She said "christos" doesn't ring a bell, but then again this was several years ago. She said it scared the bejeezus out of her! Heh heh. She left the practicioner's room without saying anything, quickly grabbing her coat and purse and leaving, heh heh.

Clandestino, great link/article.

I read the book (Windows of the Mind - GM Glaskin) years ago and it is an interesting book.  For those who never heard of it, the book describes a past-life regression technique: Two assistants massage the subject's head and feet whilst the subject lies on his/her back very relaxed.  The subject is prompted to imagine themself expanding taller and then into a kind of expanding balloon.  Then rising above the roof of the building they are in and into the sky.  The subject then descends back down to earth again and describes a vivid (supposedly) past-life experience.  Almost everyone who tried this seemed to get a vivid experience, the author was very succesful in getting people to have realistic experiences.

The book seems to be out of print now which is a shame, but Clandestiono's link gives a lot of info.  Also a very good critique of the whole LD/OBE experience, ie whether it's just an LD, an LD with super-ESP or a true OBE.
