I wonder we you are out of body, if the room is pitch black, can you still see?
Yes. The attempt to see leads to the ability to see. Dark rooms and areas are during a OBE usually "more illuminated" (better visible) than in the real world.
The dark areas have the look of light at dusk. Enough to make out basic detail and no more I find.
My opinion is this:
You're "always" seeing something. Just like you're always hearing something... that background "noise" we all hear when things get deafly quiet.
Well, there's a default "visual" you'll see even if there's nothing there to see.
We generally process it as a blob of blackness with the illusion of depth to it. We call it the 3D blackness. :)
We are always, "Perceiving" something, imho.
We translate those perceptions into physical sense representations to the degree that we identify with the physical form (which for most is almost totally 100%, all of the time, even when "OBE").
LOL I astral project at night, so everything would be pitch black. Except in the astral, things are weird. I sometimes seem to have night vision, as in the scenery has a greenish glow, which can be rather creepy >o>
Remember that light is simply a specific octave of wave frequency that your eyes(the organs attached to your face) have specialized in perceiving.
You can certainly hear in the dark, right?
To say that you "see" in the astral is simply a metaphor for picking up information.
Information in the astral/dreamworld is on a basis of more "knowing." Think about your dreams, how do you know what is going on? You just do.
This fact plays a very important role in your general understand of the phenomenon as the main theories surrounding astral projection revolve around that concept of high frequency (brain) waves being a key player.
I hope I gave you more questions then answers. :-P
Cheers,
Contenteo
I told my wife we need a nite light in our room but didn't tell her it was because it was so dark I couldn't see when I go OOB lol. I can't seem to see in the dark at all but I guess it's because it's the norm for me to not be able to see. Next time I will tell my self I can see and maybe I will?

You dont need to, because you will autopmatically see. But it will work. But you can also go to the switch and switch the light on. You switch then not the light in the physical world on, but you switch the light in the astral world on.
Not true for me... That freaking light never works.
