Okay i don't mean to sound stupid. I really got into Astral Projection a couple years ago but then just kind of fell out of it. so i have for got alot about it and i have really been trying to answer a question by looking on websites and i cant really figure out if i did today or not. Okay here it goes....

I laid my son down for a nap and i didn't expect to even go to sleep i just wanted to rest because i knew my son might fight his nap so any ways i laid down and i guess i maybe perhaps fell asleep. i guess i could see around me i didn't see my self i knew i felt really calm and happy and i could hear some one playing a Piano and i could hear little kids laughing. But i didn't dare to leave my body/bed. I never saw any kids or any thing and i know no one here in my apartment or any of the apartments around me have a piano. It was just my son and i home. My husband was at work. Plus i felt very heavy

Thanks for any help and or advice you could give me

Eloquence

Logansmommy, firstly welcome to the forums.

As for your experience, anything is possible, it may have just been a dream, but usually you can tell the difference between a dream and a projection. Sorry I cant be of more help, no doubt someone else who is more experienced will be able to answer your question a little more fully. But personally, I think its very possible.

Hi Logansmommy

I agree with Eloquence.

It is difficult to judge someone else's experience.  Most of the time, it is hard to qualify your own!

But from what you say, I can tell you that I've had similar experiences just before I was able to separate.  I have been fully conscious (and incredibly relaxed) and heard voices, noises and music.  These sounds are common precursors to OBEs.  Through experience, I know that when I hear sounds such as these, an OBE is only a matter of seconds away.

If you were fully awake (albeit nearly asleep) when you heard these noises, I would say that you were on the brink of an OBE.

Of course, the term OBE literally suggests that you have the sensation of being "out of your body".  So strictly speaking, you didn't have an OBE, because you say you didn't leave the bed/your body.

It may be that you fell into a light sleep.  Only you can really know.

If you want to explore these sensations and have OBEs, I would suggest that next time this happens, you attempt to move away from the physical.  But before you do this, you need to have very little/no fear whatsoever.  You say you "didn't dare" leave your body.  Therefore perhaps it wouldn't be such a good idea to take it any further.  Of course, that is up to you.

We all find nonsenses to believe in; it's part of being alive.

I get some similar experiances, it happens when im tired, but not so tired im gonna fall asleep quickly.

I lie there for a while, and eventually enter the hypnogogic stage, where many random thoughts and images come into my head, but some of these can actually materialise in my 'real world' meaning i hear noises and occasionally see flashes of whatever it is i am viewing in the hypnogogic state, when i get to this stage, i know im near exiting, maybe this is what happened with you.

I havent actually exited yet but once i came to this stage and consciously tried to leave my body, i could feel the strange sensations and i KNEW i was so close to leaving, then a frightening image came into my head accompanied by a scream i could hear so loudly and clearly, as you can imagine this scared the crap out of me and i was quickly woken up again :( oh well, better luck next time, hehe.

just like Selski sed, its better to get over the fear first, unlike me.
