Astral under the microscope (would like everyone to help out)

Here's the deal, I have heard so many people say such diverse, unique and occasionally plain silly things, that I have decided to do some solid research and see if I can't draw up some parallels.

What I want is for everyone to give a brief description (as brief as possible) of what Astral projection is *like* to them. Note, ASTRAL projection, not Etherial, not Mystical, not OBE, not Mental plane. I'm only interested in gaining a better understanding of the Astral plane itself.

I am talking about images, feelings, extra senses, how you visualize it (I.E as a physical or virtual world, or perhaps something more heavenly). I would like to know what method you use, what experiences you have had (again, let's keep it brief, after all we have the whole forum for exploring those individual matters in detail, I'm just looking for an overview).

And also fighting, if any of you use that ::roleplaying:: method to practice fighting while online, or if you simply see is as a physical fight in your mind, or perhaps you see nothing and it is merely a matter of deploying your energy to clash with your opponents. Is fighting even necessary for you? What about demons, parasites, natives, vamps and other projectors?

Do you project dualy, remaining aware in this world and in that world in some bipolar state of awareness, or are you perhaps colocative with an entire life in some other world that may or may not be the Astral. Do you have to be meditating or can you leave yourself on physical autopilot while you navigate the Astral consciously? Or is it more like a dream where you only remember it afterwards?

To give you some idea of what kind of context I am looking for in replies, I'll go first... but since I am clearly compiling research to better understand the Astral, I think it goes without saying that I am not incredibly experienced at it myself, so forgive me if my example is a little thin.

My example:

I cannot project fully, only partially. I don't do it often, rarely in fact.

I do this by focussing all my intent on entering the Astral vibration, I can achieve it fairly quickly.

I don't see the two worlds overlayed, I see by transferring my attention to the Astral world, and thus leaving my physical body on a very simple kind of autopilot, which can break easily. My perception is very poor, I don't see much, and what I do is is open to interpretation, and occasionally mixes with imagination or expectation.

I visualize the Astral as a dark void, in which I am moving in a diembodied state of floating. I navigate by willing myself in whatever direction I choose.

I am able to hone in on a target pretty much instantly, provided I can recognize their energy signature, can will myself to their side... though my perception is still so limited that whatever I see is unreliable, and for all I know I might not even be there.

I have had to combat in the past, and I do so by focusing my emotions into intent. For example, aiming a sense of anger at the target, and consciously intending it to be an attack. I cannot make any claims of great victories because my perception is too limited for me to fully understand how it turns out. I don't make a habit of it.

Summary: I project with ease but am unable to do so properly. I visualize the Astral as a place, and I see it only with visual sight, no other senses including sound play a part in my visualization. I often see it as physical. Things progress in a linear pattern. I am aware of the fact that since it is not a physical plane, there is no such thing as space, time, or light in the Astral, and that everything I see is just a visualization.

That would be the kind of statement I would like to get from everyone, only conveying their own unique perspective. I would even like to see staff members and forum elders getting involved here, I'm really not asking much, just a few lines from each of you that outlines your general beliefs, experience and perspective. The more you tell me the better I can fit it all together, and I hope to compile an article at some point in the future with my findings.

This isn't just for my benefit either, it's for yours. I'm sure we all have the same occasional doubts: "Is this Astral stuff real or am I just kidding myself/dreaming/wishful thinking or even crazy", and while we could all read every single thread here... well that's a lot of heavy reading... and this one could save a lot of time. If everyone contributes, we can end up with a valuable collage of bitesize information on the Astral, and the more perspectives we experience the greater our own understanding will be.

I would be very grateful to anyone who participates. Remember, it's the Astral I'm studying here, anything else wouldn't count. :) But we could always set up extra threads for the other forms of projection, we'll see how this one goes first.

Thank you for your time. :)

The changes are coming...

bounda

I've projected twice.

I see the astral as a place just like the universe we live in, its the same. My method is pretty much what everybody says, fall asleep but keep your mind awake. Focusing on my heartbeat helps do this.

I've never fought, and never felt the need to.

When i projected in those two times, ive only felt my astral self, but i think if i tried to maintain awareness of my physical body, i could. It is more real than a dream, at first there is doubt, thinking it is one, but slowly you realise how realistic it felt. There are all these things you feel, and you have more control over yourself than in a dream, and afterwards, you can remember it more vividly, unlike a dream whose memory slowly deteriorates.

Ive had quite a few projections over the years, even before i knew what it really was.

I agree with Bounda, seems the same place as this place with exactly the same lucidity.

Ive never practiced bring it on while awake, i only have experienced the sleep state variety.

But i have practiced waking in a dream, like carlos castenedas used the method of looking at your hands in a dream.

I have learnt to wake, if i notice something unusual, like the furniture etc. Things we normally use or have in our lives.

Other obes, i just open my eyes, but not my physical eyes.  That, i pick up on straight away.

The most significant type i ever had, was one where i was floating in my bedroom, knew i was out of body and did some testing.

I was most excited and decided to return to my body, which i could see in my bed, to tell my husband.

Next thing i find is that im sitting up in bed telling Kevin, he answered me.

What was strange is that i didnt wake up, ponder for a few, then tell him.
It was one action from out of body to completely awake.  No separation.

Principle

How does one open their Etheric Sight, or Astral Sight? Instead of opening their Physical Eyes?

Paola

I dont know, it seems the same as when you wake in the morning and your eyes just open.

Principle

So there is not a method or technique? It just occurs naturally?

kiwibonga

I'm still researching how it can be done... Apparently a lot of those who can do it have achieved it through meditation and energy work... No surprise there.

The trick seems to be to build up your energy body to such an extent that you can perceive things through it in the waking state. In most people, the subtle senses are dormant or very faint. By raising energy, you strengthen the signal, and accessing it becomes easier.

In answer to Principle's question.
I have never used any methods, i dont meditate or do energy work.

I have a feeling that out of body experiences are natural occurrences.

Body asleep, mind awake.  Mind seems to wake at any time while body is asleep.  I can never pick it, just happens.

Principle

Well, I was asking specifically about Astral Sight,
there is obviously techniques and methods used to induce Astral Travel and Projection. (AP, OBE)

I believe, yes, it occurs naturallly and you can simply say to yourself, "open eyes"

Or ref: to posts in this forum, commands such as "full clarity now"

On one occasion, I opened my eyes and in disappointment closed them and returned to the void trance.

After getting up from the session, I realized that I had seen the room with etheric sight and mistakenly thought that I had simply waken up.
I guess a false awaking.

Another one is simply, "stand up" to float up and begin exploring the surroundings.

After much practice, one day I just new instictivly what to do. So I think that "naturally" best describs it.

It appears that techniques and methods can be used for programing, something that already exists.

I think astral sight is one and the same as physical sight.  Perhaps just a different frequency or something.  I dont really know.  Just conjecture.
