Title: beginnings of oobes?
Post by: Spawn_Xe on September 28, 2006, 13:12:03
Hi guys, i'm new the whole astral projection scene, it not somthing i have pursued but always been curious about. I have an interest in spirituality and fung shui but nothing as advanced as you guys (from reading your stories). I'm seeking advice on where to go from here and maybe some explanations. First off i'll describe the morning of September 27th. (Extracts taken from my journal)

Ok from the beginning, i woke up at what must have been 5-6am (it was getting light so its just a guess) for no particular reason. Somewhat ticked off because my mind was too active to let me go back to sleep again and i had to goto work soon!. Dont ya just fkin hate that?!. Anyway, i was just lying there pondering stuff in general and i got this very uncomfortable sinking, paralysing feeling. Now at that time i was like "woah, that is NOT freaking nice", forced myself to be fully awake and just assumed i was just conciously aware of falling asleep. So i decided to just carry on and not stop it next time. I dont know how long it took to happen again, if i had to guess i'd say about 20minutes. But that time i sank even further and it felt like... it felt like sinking into a pool of room temprature water where I couldnt feel the atmosphere. On top of that i couldnt move, then i sort of had this wierd blurred green double vision thing goin on... which was very confusing because my eyes were closed!. I got really spooked when i couldnt feel my heart beat or breath anymore, that was the worst part. I instantely regained conciousness but couldnt move for a good 30 seconds, tho i could feel my heart pounding away which was much better.

After that, i did get a bit curious and managed to induce that sinking feeling, but didnt let it get very far after it firmly reminded me how it felt. This isn't the first time somthing like this has happend. A couple of times in the past i've woken up to a jolt yet being paralyzed for quite a few minutes. I've heard sleep paralysis is quite common but the other things made me google keywords and it almost always came up with out of body experiences.

Next up was this morning (28th)

It happend again. It was slightly different from the night before, possibley because i was much more prepared and less fearfull of it. I spent all day reading up on OoBEs and the various techniques you can do. Again i must have awoken at 5-6am, fully alert still yet wanting some more sleep. It took a while to get relaxed again because my cat decided she wanted some attention and Alex (my girlfriend) was snoring lol. But after an hour or so of just laying there it got quiet and i decided i'd go for it. I got into a relaxed position and began some fo the breathing and visualisation techniques i read about, after about 20mins i felt those vibrations i hear so much about for the first time!!.. very peculiar feeling i must say!, i had thought i'd be like 'pins and needles' you sometimes get in your foot but it wasnt anythin as tingly/sensitive as that... i dunno how to explain them lol. So i get past these vibrations which lasted about 10 seconds and then paralysis set in, which wasnt as bad as the night before... there was no deep sinking feeling this time and i didnt feel so.. trapped, you know?. Instead i felt extremely light and refreshed with the most amazing silence. I've sat on a mountain on a summers night (i live in Wales, lots of mountains here lol) and i've never felt such peace as i did last night, it was quite extraordinary. Unfortunately i never actually got any further because i had this urge to swallow for some reason lol. I tried to resist but i coulnt and when i did i concentrated a little too much on how it felt, then my mind must have realised and kicked in.. waking me up slowly in the process.

Any body have any steps i can take to delve further into this? its somthing i'm really intruiged about especially reading all this about levels of focus and astral planes.

Very interesting extracts there. The vibrations I felt were pretty much like a jolt of lightning... and the heart pounding at what seemed to be as if it was going to burst.

The blurry vision through closed eyelids in the first extract sounds very much like Astral Vision, not experiencing it myself I can't be sure but from what I've read it seems like that. Perhaps your body had split but you were still lying in the same position? Maybe next time if you roll over or focus on floating you will fully seperate??

As for the second one it's a complete mystery to me. perhaps you projected to a higher plane? Not much knowledge about those though.

Either way I wish you look

When you talk about the sinking experience this is a classic element of a very deep trance.  The green double vision you speak of happens to me when I force myself out of sleep or from a bad lucid dream and am not fully awake yet.  I will swim up towards consciousness and as I reach my body my eyes will fly open and I will be paralyzed and my vision will be a strange blend of green and red with geometric patterns overlayed on top of whatever I am seeing.

Your doing great!  You just need to get used to the sinking sensation.  This is such an easy platform for projection.  I dont experience it very often but when I do I can easily project as long as I stay with it and dont freak out.  It can be really disturbing in a way.  What I do is when I feel myself falling like that I try to control the fall by drifting to one side or the other or if im feeling lucky I will "physically" roll off my bed.  Whenever I have dont this I have rolled out of my body.  I cant garuntee that you wont fall to the ground and go "BAH!!!! stupid internet advice!!" but its worth a shot.

thanks for the replys!. Its been very releiving to know i'm not the only person experiancing this!.

Yes lucid_learner!... lightning, thats a good description, thanks!.. like your muscles are twitching when being shocked but it isnt your muscles its like, everything. :)

knightlight, the double vision thing was like looking through unfocused green glasses, it only happend briefly because i brought myself out of the whole thing due to the uncomfortable sinking sensation. I'll deffinately go with the flow next time tho! Do you project often?.. what happens to the sinking sensation after you are out? I'm curious as to what it eels like because i dont want to suprise myself if i manage to leave.. getting excited in the process and ruin the whole thing.

Also can anybody clue me in on somthing. I tried the same thing this morning but didnt get anywhere... somthing i can probably blame on my hang over lol (my head is pounding right now lol).. i got to my relaxed state and did the energy hands visualisation, but i'd lose focus when i got a single white bright flash, almost blinding but not painfull. It happend about 3 times, it was not real world related as i was facing the wall/floor.

It shocked me a lot when it first happened... I suppose I read about vibrations as if they were never going to happpen to me and when they did it was a big surprise.

They happened to me last night and I noticed a weird feelign in my body, I couldn't put my finger on it. Almost like a temperature change but it wasn't. Felt like I was somewhere other and my bed anyway :|

Did your eyelids twitch when you were having the vibes?? Mine twitched rapidly.

Peace, LL 8-)

wow, exactly... i had the same sensation. As i mentioned in my extract it was a "refreshing" sensation, like.. being indoors at a certain temprature, then going outside where it is the exact same temprature, cept with a different feel and atmosphere. So like, didnt feel so claustraphobic (sp?) which would make sense if you're free from your body lol. My eyelids didnt twitch, it was just all over body, i dont think i felt anything in my head.. it was as if i was an old tv and someone switched me off leaving all that static behind.

What do you do to relax to get to the vibration stage?

EDIT: More progress, yay! :). Read up on Mr Bruces NEW (New Energy Waves) techniques, what a suprise they were!. The man certainly knows how to get things moving. Did them for about an hour and ended up with this real wierd feeling at the pit of my stomach, like a pulsating lump.. was almost uncomfortable but didnt bother me too much as i knew that it was the secondary energy centre that resides there. Anyway i ended up dozing off, i fought it a few times but couldnt get to the right state... must have been pretty tired. I woke up at about 3/4am tho and spent a good hour getting into a deep relaxation, it was somewhat harder than the last 2 nights but i managed to get there in the end. It was all different again, i didn't get any vibrations this time and the paralyzing feeling was even more subtle than before. I lay there for a few minutes and then felt this really awesome whirring sensation in my chest, obviously it was my heart chakra, it just putted away like a little motorcycle and was quite amusing to me at the time. So there i was, thinking "excrement.. what do i do now?!" lol.. then gently, i felt as if i was getting blown to my right and floating back again.. at which point i wondered if i had just accidently left my body, but i couldnt see anything. I slowly opened my eyes to where they were half open, but couldnt be sure if they were my real eyes or not so i kept closing them not wanting to wake myself up( I didnt want to attempt any leaving technques at this point, i want to do one thing at a time, dont want to rush myself). On my third attempt i was just "screw it, i'll open fully and if its my real eyes then atleast i'll know".. but then my stupid cat came in meowing her head off.. no idea why but we're not friends at the moment lol. So yeh, i was awake and couldnt get back to relaxation coz alex was snoring.. again. Think i went back to sleep after that.

I'll run you through my relaxation technique. It's pretty standard but providing i'm not "too tired or "too awake" then it will usually work. I have to be tired enough so that I will go to sleep but not so tired that I'm constantly yawning and can't think straight.

Firstly I settle into bed and do some simple stretches and whatnot just to make me comfy.. Then I decide whether I want to have my arms on the inside or outside of the covers. (Sometimes when it's hot and I have then on the inside it gets too uncomfortable because of the heat and I have to abandon it for the night. So I make a decision before I start.)

Once i'm settled in I do muscle relaxation. Simply tensing the toes hard for about 8 secs then letting go and feeling they are fully relaxed with no tension. (Not really a visualisation, just affirming without a doubt to myself that they are relaxed.) Then I will go to my: Ankles, Knees, Hips, Buttocks, Fingers, Wrists, Fore & Upper Arms, Stomach, Shoulders, Neck, Jaw, Mouth, Eyes, Ears. Then I imagine tensing the area just above my head (Crown Chakra) and on release all the tension disappearing. Don't worry if you don't want to do it in that order. It's just my modified method... you change it how you like because it's made for you.

I'm not really a visualisation person, sometimes I picture myself on an island and try to focus in on detail, I will only do this to try and catch my mind out. What I mean here is, the mind tends to try and drift away from the visualisation. It will make you think about whether you locked the house or whatever. Anything it can to get you away from your focus. If I don't feel like visualising then I will either concentrate on my breath or on my heart beat. Anything to focus on. If you keep catching it out, by the time you fall asleep you will think hang on.. i'm not thinking about my visualisation/heart beat/breath. Then you will stop the mind from going to sleep.

Once here the vibes usually kick in without a few minutes of being in this state. I normally just focus on my breath to stop me going to sleep and then they will come in.

I've not gotten further than this so you will have to improvise from here.

Hope this helps. Peace, LL 8-)
