I can usually get to the point where I feel weightless and get full body tingles, but that's as far as I go. I also feel like my body morphs or stretches. When I'm at this point and I imagine myself falling of flying really fast the tingles and weightlessness sensations intensify, but I can't HOLD ON to that feeling. It's like it only happens while I'm intently thinking about being in space or flying really fast over landscapes. I think my breathing distracts me from holding on to this for long enough that I release.
I also feel like my eyes are trying to open when I get to this point. Is this normal? Either that or my astral vision is tuning in and I am starting to see through my eyelids.
I just got done with an attempt, and I've feeling quite nauseas :-o
Ths is all perfectly normal. Just stay the course! Observe these "signposts" with an air of curiosity. This is a really good thread here. Check it out. It will answer a lot of your questions.

If these things distract or disturb you, you need to concentrate more on another perception or thought. Maybe start to count or try to hear some kind of noise or concentrate deeply on physical sensations of the head or hands. There are many possibilities to distract from distractions.

Looks of good info, thanks :) I'm going to try the visualisation and day dreaming thing tonight.
I noticed that during my projection attempt earlier, I slipped into a dream for a second (I was still a little bit conscious) and I felt the true vibrations kick in. I realised what I had done, and after reading the thread you linked me, it sounds like this is what I need to practice.
I can usually get to that point in the evenings, but as of yet, I haven't had any luck going further at night.
This is just a suggestion, but have you tried after waking up in the morning? That worked wonders for me. I don't know if it's because upon waking, my body is still super relaxed or what, but it works.
Good luck! And have fun! :D
For whatever reason, the same thing always happens to me, if I don't reach the hypnagogic stage first. Once I reach this stage however, I always know vibrations are soon to follow, and I will soon have an AP.
You don't have to try to hold the vibrations. That just shifts your focus back to your physical body again. This is when it is extremely important to be in the "passively observing" mode. You just view all this with an air of curiosity and stay the course.

It's good to know vibrations aren't crucial. The difficult part for me lately has been achieving hypnagogic state. In the beginning the images came quite easily, and were quite colorful, which hasn't been the case lately. I think I might be over complicating things and am probably trying too hard. You're probably right that it should be more of a passive observance. Thanks

I have this problem too. It's where you get to the bridge per say, then for some reason you can't pass it. You just sit there in the 3D blackness/vastness or grey/white wall of mist and can't move on. I have found that this area had purpose too. This area is where you just listen to your thoughts, listen to your inner voice and just contemplate life.
Then when you are ready to move on, it all of a sudden happens. This is why I have noticed to just let what happens happen. I'm happy whether I am in a full blown Astral Scenario or just "chilling" in the tranquil 3D vastness.
Every night before I fall asleep I say to my self "By MY act of WILL, I RELEASE my focus over my physical body. PLEASE TAKE ME to your desired destination. AWAKEN ME in my dreams CONSCIOUSLY AWARE so I may REMEMBER them, so I may LEARN from and ENJOY them. I visualize those capitalized letters as fading into the darkness before my eyes. I awaken constantly in lucid dreams. Some I can control, some I just watch and listen. Sometimes I awaken in a Dream and then my scene goes black, just like it does when I Phase. I don't push it, I allow what happens to happen. Then in the morning I write what I can remember from the experience. :-)

You make perfect sense, that the key is to just relax and let it unfold, quiet all the mind chatter, and not over analyze, which I have been doing. I went through a very hectic spring/summer, where there was little time to practice APing, and thought I could pick up where I left off, but it's been slow going. Though I did manage to project from a lucid dream recently. I think it all came easier at first, because I was so new to it I wasn't trying to make a science of it. Good advice Thanks again :-)
