Yesterday I spent over 90 minutes, but all I all I got was a pulsing feeling, and my body felt electrified, but it was mostly in both my arms....this is harder than I thought. The other night I was listening to William Buhlmans rope technique on one of his CD's, and felt I cfould not breath and paniced.

Scorched

I find that if I spend too much time trying to force these things it never happens. I believe that AP and lucid dreaming happens on the same plane and there is more than one way to get there. Meditation is one way, but if that doesn't work you can try a much more common method: going to sleep. Sometimes it may be easier to become aware while you are already dreaming, rather than trying to jump directly to a dream-like state.

This is how I have had most results.

Surprisingly, that's actually a good sign!
You were doing well, so well, you were feeling your body fall asleep!  This can be interpreted as not being able to breath.
If you get this feeling again, just stay as calm as you can.  You're actually breathing just fine.

If you had kept going, you would have had a good chance to project. :)

Nap!! nap nap nap nap nap... sleep little sleeps... have 40 winks... a cat nap.. nap.

Before you try to induce SP... have a nap beforehand. Do it a few hours before you try.

Nap!!

Narcoleptics SUFFER from Sleep Paralysis because they have involuntary NAPS!!

When most people who aren't narcoleptics suffer from sleep paralysis it is because they get themselves into a sleep routine that causes them to nap from exhaustion because of stress.

People really need to see this from a different angle.

I will repeat again

NARCOLEPTICS SUFFER FROM SP BECAUSE THEY HAVE INVOLUNTARY NAPS.

so take this information and turn it to your advantage.

Have a nap in the afternoon.

Anyone who knows me has always heard me bang on about naps.. about having a nap in the evening before inducing an OOBE later that night.

I have done 2 videos... pretty much saying 'Have a nap'... Wrote.... thousands of posts... saying... .Have a nap. Some people cotton on.,, and go... "oh my god... that was so easy... Ive been trying for 10 years and all I needed to do was HAVE A NAP"

Sleep before you try.

I'm going to get a Tshirt made up with that on it.

"Sleep Before you Try"

I wasn't ranting at you two guys by the way.. .I am just sick of typing the word 'nap' and end up feeling like a stuck record.

I think it's possible that listening to an entire Tom Campbell lecture may help you. It has helped me.

Thanks for the nap suggestions. I take an afternoon nap also. Do you have a link to the videos?

It is important that you nap in the evening... waking from it an hour or two before you actually try and induce it.

A nap in the afternoon may actually culminate in an actual OOBE at the time of the nap... depending on how long before that you actually woke up that day.

An afternoon nap won't work if you want to induce at midnight. Too longer time has transpired since you had your slow-wave sleep nap.

What you are after is a non-dream sleep. A short nap doesn't last long enough to slip into REM.

I don't nap, but I still Phase and have LD's almost every day, but I am sure this another one of those if you believe, it will work for you things. The people I have personally taught to AP don't nap either and they have limited success as well. I just wanted to say this because I feel it is not a must do to project. Relaxing, releasing focus on your physical body, these are things that are important.

Like I said... Narcoleptics suffer from Sleep paralysis. It's a physiological thing rather than a spiritual thing. Ive been teaching people this method for too long to have it slightly passed off as just another 'one of those you believe' and I've seen too many results throughout my life. It works very well on skeptics and people who have tried everything. On anybody.

The nap is needed for a night-time 'before sleep' experience.

If you are a morning or middle afternoon experiencer then the nap or priming pre-sleep is the one woken up from that morning. It's all about catching the REM cycle.

Dude... seriously... too long.

Bedeekin

oh.. lol

I've been using and teaching it for too long to not realise it works... too long researching why a previous slow wave sleep works.

It's mechanical in process in the way that it works... very much like using hypnosis or binaural beats is mechanical.

If I tell someone about OOBE who is skeptical... I can give them this method... and they either fall out with me or want to know more.  :-D

I don't refute your claim. You "teach" it and that's why it works. I just don't feel it is paramount to success. This is your technique and it works for you and many others. In the end we all hone our own techniques. I didn't say it doesn't work, I just say it is not 100% necessary for success. Relaxation and the release of physical focus are 100% needed. I try to help people here the easiest way I know how. But I try not to lengthen their process any more than I need to.

Lionheart,

When you mention physical focus, is that not thinking about your physical body? I think I kind of do that when I look for signs I am entering the vibrational state.

Bedeekin

You don't need to relax when properly primed. Just the process of going to sleep can kick one over the edge into SP.

It's not actually my technique Lionheart. It's just a nap I'm advising. Nothing more. The actual method of getting there can be any method.

There is no harm to just have a pre-sleep.

You are releasing it completely and focusing on something else, whether it being the beats of Binaural Beats, some Mantra that you are repeating, or even some pleasant visual that you have "lost" yourself in.
