I was in this room in Astral. I was hanging out with someone else who AP'ed, or was a spirit. We were walking around the room, chatting and near the end, had a serious discussion.
Suddenly, when I am in the middle of my turn to talk, this faces pops into existence for about two seconds. it was Human sized and super impose over an object that I was in front of, but not close to. it looked Healthy, and Human. No hair, as it was like someone's face from a magazine that someone cut out, skipping all head hair and ears. No blood, or gore, just the cut out. There was no indication that this was going to happen, it was just as someone flicked on a light switch and the face was just there.
My acquaintance saw it as well, and pretty much flipped their stuff. They roamed the room, convinced someone was pulling a prank on us. I pretended to look around for the 'perpetrator', but I wasn't flipping out or anything.
I thought that it was someone who peeked in, AP and exploring, saw two people in discussion and left. Did the discussion bore them? I don't know. I just thought it was a strange, if not humorous experience that I decided to share.
You kept your cool while everyone else freaked out. Good for you, this has a taste of a simulation or test.
Quite a short one and you found yourself there by chance I'd guess.

It's just that I've seen so much stuff lately, that stuff like that doesn't faze me liked it used to.
Just recently I saw this HUGE astral entity that was the height of the Chrysler Building and wide as a typical open-mining pit. It's body had the same trick going on with it when you add Cornstarch and Water. Looks liquid, but kind of not. Had the color of lightning bolts jammed together in one body ....
Yeah, long story short, I am learning not to fear stuff, no matter how big or small.
Their percieved size is nothing, their ability is.
In these fear simulations you are being tested against your physical mindset.
This is a typical example,
If you suddenly stepped off a high building it's natural to think you're going to fall. It's this natural expectation that's being challenged. In the NP you'd likely think the same, for an instant at least, then realise WTF I can fly to outer space if I choose, so what's falling got to do with anything.
You then start flying and it ends.
The big - small experiences are showing you that size perception is in your minds eye. You can see a giant, the thing here is what size are you in relation to your environment?
I've spent time in many of these simulations on size. One where I was flying for ages towards a blueish light. After a while these large wormlike spinny things kept appearing so I dodged them. Next thing I know these worms start to shrink and the blue light gets much closer. Watching the show I then start to see my bedroom appear. I was tiny, microscopic in size dodging dust in my room. As I returned to full size I was on my own.
I learned how to manipulate my size, this comes in to play if you get locked in a room or cage. You shrink to fit through any aperture that's available.
These simulations were before translocation was taught.
Late 60's to '71 so a good while ago. You don't really forget the lessons too.
