Title: Does the ambient light affect your astral sight?
Post by: Simo on February 08, 2011, 16:34:26
So as the name suggest I  wonder Is it going to be dark if I project when it's dark outside(nighttime)I've done it only in the mornings, after sunrise so I ask you what's your experience? :-P I'm a bit afraid of the dark

I've projected into night settings after sunrise and I've projected into day settings after midnight. In my experience it has no effect.

It's not so much a choice as it is a random chance of getting one or the other.

In regards to your fear of "astral night" I'll say that the few unpleasant experiences I've had occured while projecting in well-lit environments. I'll also add that night time in the astral can be an incredible experience. Can you witness the beauty of the stars and the moon during the day? What about the bright lights of a city landscape? Work through your fear because you'll be missing out if limiting yourself like that.

Thanks for the replies!I've never projected  during the night so I don't know what it is but I'm sure that I wont be holding myself back because I know nothing can harm me.I'll give it a try now as I go to bed!   :-P

I don't think time of day has much to do with it really.
At any time of day/night you can potentially encounter he exact opposite.

I've projected at night into daylight... and during daylight into night...

While ambient light will help you project during the night time, especially if you're not too keen of the dark... if you fear the dark, guess where you'll probably end up?  :)

You'll need to face your fears head on in the non-physical or they will control your experiences.

I've had these same thoughts lol.  So far for me, the time of day in real life is the same in the OBE. But once I leave my house, the time changes.. usually day-time.

My very first night OBE was just before sunset and I left my body after it got dark. I couldn't see, and I also couldn't switch the lights on XD. So if I do this at night nowadays I leave a light on just in case. But hey you might be curious what it's like... I've had experiences where I start off blind and I just wait till my eyesight kicks in. I've also tried visualizing an environment while blind and what I thought up appeared around me.

Actually, with a bit of practice and experience, you should be able to make the "time of day" whatever you want during your projections.

Yes I know, but Simo might not know how to do it in the beginning.

Lucid Dreaming is easier, because you don't have to worry about all those "scary" sensations.  You're already in the non-physical, so you just need to find a trigger for you to NOTICE that you're in the non-physical.

As for the other things... for you, it's just a matter of experiencing them and becoming comfortable with them.  :)

Fear, excitement or too much expectation will surely spoil your attempt. You must "re-program" these emotions into a feeling of curiosity and desire to know. Any expectations like - you will not be able to see in the dark or you will encounter something nasty, must be recognized as excuses of your body made in an attempt to protect you from danger, but no longer required here. It must be converted into - "Lets see what happens".

You must turn to "learn mode" as opposed to "battle mode". Its like a game. :)

How to reprogram ? One way is to sit still and mentally rehearse the AP attempt (do not actually attempt) and be aware of your emotions. The awareness must be intense, not simple day-today awareness. You should be aware of your thoughts at all moments. In this state you will know the source of your emotions and when they surface, you just deliberately induce a curious feeling to replace them. Try it again and again.

This training will help you when you actually attempt and you will find that you shift into AP passively without any fight with your body, once you master it.
