Playing card struggles

Haha, so I've been trying to do the playing card trick, but I can't quite seem to get it down. I always turn the card over and find just ridiculous things on it, one time it looked like an exam notecard, and the others it looks like it has tons of different suits and/or number. This morning I found I was in an OBE, I got up, and was in my room. I saw my door that leads out to the common room of my apartment, it had a poster on it though which was strange. I was about to open it when I realized what fun is that? So i slowly pushed my hand through it and felt this strange sensation up my hand and arm. I walked through and came out in my common room. From here I saw my roommate's deck of cards sitting on the table, I figured I'd see if I could look at the top card. So I grabbed it and flipped it over, it was a strange card with 8's and 9's on it, as well as both the clubs and spades suits, so I had no idea what to get from it, I just guessed 8 of clubs. (Turned out to be queen of spades) After this my roommates came in the door and were talking and such, I began thinking about floating, and I started floating up into the room above me, which had 3 fairly cute girls in it. From here I "woke up" with a false awakening, in which I got ready for my classes, and after that I actually woke up. A pretty brief experience, but nevertheless I enjoyed it.

Hehe.. maybe you could try just for the "colour" of the suit next time. Just the colour, not the suit, not the card value. Then next if you can get the colour most of the time, try for the suit.. not the value.. just the suit.. and then after you can get the suit, try for "high/low".. decide what is high (8 and above for example) and what is low (7 and below for example) and then try that.. it might take you many attempts to start to get it "right" for all of the above stages.. I think you need to train yourself like you would if you were an infant. When you are an infant, the numbers and symbols really have no meaning.. they are just colourful. So start there and then work on picking the colours for a while.. even if you get it right the first few times, make sure of it by doing it a bunch of times.. then move on to the suit.

Something else you could do, to make this easier is to remove the 4 Aces from the deck and only use those. It's still a 1 in 4 chance of getting the right colour.. and again, still a 1 in 4 chance of getting the suit later on. Also, while you are shuffling the cards I think you should keep your intent firmly in your mind.

Anyway.. just some ideas.. take them as you will. :)

Yeah, I think I'm going to try that to an extent, haha. What I mean is, I'm going to try and focus on simply the colour of the card, after I find which colour I think it is, I might make a guess as to the card itself, just for laughs. When I get up I'll check to see if I got the colour right, a one in two chance, and just see if I came close with my guess. The odds of me guessing the colour correctly 5 times in a row are around 3 in 100, so if I can do that, I'll move on to guessing the suit, and so forth. Thanks for the idea!

Maybe just try leaving one card on its own somewhere, face up so you can see it without touching it. It would have to be somewhere high so you didn't see it by accident whilst you're in the physical. My theory is that maybe because you were interacting with the entire deck, you couldn't single out one particular card?

Not sure going by color is very productive: you'd have a 50% chance of being right, so you'd need to do the test dozens of times to get any meaningful results.

Instead of numbers or letters, which are very hard to read in dreams, you should make a deck of about 10 or 15 flashcards with obvious, recognizable symbols on them: a star, a dog,  an X, a half moon, etc.... Then just put a random one face down somewhere and look at it later.

That's a good idea, might try it myself. Thanks.

Or you could get cards that have just a colour (like from a house painting selection thing, pallette) then use those. I still think that anything more than abstract ideas is going to be tough when you first begin.

These are all really great suggestions! I wish I had a deck of UNO cards haha, I feel that would be pretty prime. What I might do is color coordinate different shapes and colors onto cards, and have around 10 cards, so a 1 in 10 shot of getting it correct, which is pretty difficult for a consistent correct guess.

Has ANYONE been able to do this? seems no one ever can.

Hallo Gummage
You asked
QuoteHas ANYONE been able to do this? seems no one ever can.

I can confidently say that the answer is Yes. Some people Have managed this. At least going by the posts written by these people who have claimed to have done it. One such person is David Warner, aka The voice of silence (TVOS). TVOS is a member here but he does post much anymore. He Does have his own website at www.invisiblelight.us So I suggest you go there and try to contact him for further info.

Cheers  :-)

what about tarot cards

:NoY:

  I was thinking the same thing!  Maybe just the Major Arcana, pull one at random and place it on the nightstand. If you actually remember to look at it while OBE you could then explore the symbols in that altered state.

You could shuffle the cards and then 'intend' to pull the one most helpful for you in dealing with some present dilemma... and take it from there.
