Title: Finally got up and out!!..
Post by: RandomName on July 28, 2003, 13:50:18
Thats weird Nay, I had an OBE today too through Astral Phasing. It was accidental too :-P. My dad woke me up at 7 am, and told me to get off the couch. I laid down in bed and started to fall asleep. I felt energy movement and snapped back to attention. I started to notice Hypnogogia and focused on it as it went past my eyes. I then felt a rush of energy movement and my hand floating in the air, and it wasn't :-D Next thing I know, I see the hypnogogia as if I am standing in it. It appeared to be some medievil castle doorway, like the front entrance just inside the gate. Very weird. I continued to explore this castle, then willed myself to space. Problem is, I lost conciousness after that and downloaded the shadow memories later after I awoke. I CANNOT GET TO SPACE! I WANNA SEE SPACE DAMNIT! [|)]

excuse me psi, but
What is hypnogonia?

Post by: RandomName on July 28, 2003, 14:15:49
Not sure of the prefix definition, but I can tell you its the images that form in your mind when your on the preset to sleep. Your subconcious will take creative control and start to build dream scenarios or Obe scenarios if you let it. I started seeing a shape forming from light behind my eyelids and I somehow started viewing it in my minds eye instead. Next thing I know, Im standing there.

Hypnogogia are any perceptions with no physical causes that you get when in a trance or a trancelike .

thanks psy and jilola.
I heard about (on this forum) Mind's eye, and Astral eye... are they the same? I don't think I've ever been able to make the shift conciously, can someone explain how it's done?
Title: Finally got up and out!!..
Post by: jilola on July 28, 2003, 14:34:32
They are the same as far as I can tell.
For me there's very little control over the phenomenon but since it's a kind of limited AP one should be able to learn to control it.

Nay weren't you the one who did talk about "astral eye"?
Psi how would you explain the shifting you do when you use your "minds eye"?
Darkangel, I can read you're talking about your astral eye, why don't you tell me what you think you do when you open it?

Jilola
What do you mean "limited AP"?

Awesome job Nay! And hey, crawling's better than being stuck, isn't it? hehehe[|)]
is it possible to have a "fully-aware" OBE through an LD? cuz everytime i do it, i end up opening my 'astral eyes' after i leave my room[xx(]...
  thanx!

I meant with limited AP that only your perception in the form of one or more sense is being projected awhile you yourself are still within your physical boody's realm of perception.
In other words you know you're in your bed witha blindfold over your eyes, yet you see the room ot some other location.

ok so I made it to use my astral eye, it was really weird, I told the whole story somewhere else... *sigh* I'm reaaaal far from controling this shift!

Frere, I have never use the terminology of "astral eye" I have spoken about my astral vision..is that what you mean?.. like when I am looking out of my eyelids.  When I split from my physical, at that point I have mangaged to put my consciousness into my astral body. I am still confused about the etheric body.. I just assumed they were one in the same.
Now as I figure, when we phase we don't put our "consciousness" in the astral body or etheric body...our consciousness just goes by itself.  Now I could be sooooo wrong it isn't funny.. so hopefully someone will correct me and help us all figure this out!..lol

Darkangel13.. Thank you so much! You are so right..crawling WAS better than just being stuck!! WAAAAAAY better!..[:D]
I have had done most of my projections from dreams... I mean once you realize your lucid..well..that is it..you're already out of your body..just go for it! I am very conscious! know exactly what is going on and what I want to do or say.  I found in the past when I become lucid I thought I needed go back to my physical body and then get out from there again...NOOOOO.. everytime I did that, it would just cause me to WAKE UP in my physical.  So, next time you find your lucid..don't even think about your physcial, just start floating or flying whatever you want!

so once you've got the astral eye your conciousness is already in the astral! That would mean I was almost out so... how coul I have tried to get out my body when I started seeing the ceiling with my eyes closed, and this center light which I don't have normaly... still balancing from someone who might have dispared in the mean while!

Stay calm and form a definite intent of the place where you want to project to.

Does this mean I had missed the vibrations from blanking out?
And was it RTZ?? Where did this center light come from? some previous tenant?

That is what my ongoing problem is/was. My consciousness was in my astral but I just couldn't get my astral up and going..lol. I don't know if you have been to the robert peterson site, but that is where I got the idea about the rocking..I have tried the rope..but just wouldn't work for me..I think it is a matter of trial and error and personal preference. I have also done the intent technique but I never ended up where I was intent on going..*sigh* and like I said, there would be a void where I couldn't remember how I got there.  What I have done is work on one technique for 3-4 days and if it didn't work I then would try another.  I can't remember where I read about the crawling, it could have been at the Peterson site, but that worked wonders! and once I got far enough away from my physical, I could stand up with no problem!

Hope this helps. still working with the words and explaining.[;)]

Frere: Yep. You missed them because your physical consciousness was asleep.
Like I said in the other thread abot the voices the more aware you are of the physical the stronger the separation sensations, aka vibrations, are.

Hey Frere.. I also forgot to mention that off and on I have been focusing on the buzzing noise that we have in our heads when real quiet.  It seems to bring on the vibrations pretty good.  Well, I don't think "it" brings them one, but the act of me focusing on this one thing seems to help alot. Everytime I do this technique it seems I can focus on it longer and longer!

I just got out of my body... for the first time... but for only two seconds, don't even know if my feet have been out... it was during a dream, and I realised the evil was REAL in my dream, I guess that Idea of REAL brought a kind of lucidity, then I felt two "friends" who yet are unnamed, taking me to an unknown place, flying... then I fell back in my body..... but the sensations were WOW, I start to measure what means more real than real... Still wonder if that was enough to be called a first time... but the proof it can happen to me is made.

That's cool that you stayed with the experience even though it was difficult to move around.[8D] Actually crawling is not such a bad idea. I have had a few experiences where I was prevented from getting out of body because I could not move (ethereally or physically) so I'll have to try crawling next time.
BTW if you can stay out and away from your physical body a bit longer next time then you will be able to move about normally and probably float too.

Sorry about taking so long to post, I was playing Counter-Strike in celebration of Kikeepers banning. ANYWAY!

My family originated in Oxford(shire) England way way back, so that may be a clue. The area wasn't familiar, but ummm, lets see, it uh "MADE SENSE" if you can understand that. I wandered around, hoping to find a picture or something, but it was a rather short experience before I blacked out. I never saw anything in particular, just tapestries and some kind of odd looking goblet on a harth.

Congrats my friend! I'm not an expert on OOBEs, as you know, but I remember what I went through starting years ago. I was just wondering, in reading this...are you and others who go through this common process of initially finding it difficult to 'get out', and then once out, struggle with heaviness and so on...are you actually in the process of learning to master the OOBE, by taking these initial, difficult steps? This may not be a good analogy, but a lot of kids will jump on a bike for the first time and actually do better than they thought they would....until a little fear sets in, and then they can't seem to ride for beans, unless they keep at it...eventually mastering it by conquering their fears. I dunno, probably don't have it right, but it just seems that what you're going through right now will eventually give you mastery of it...make you a good teacher of it some day.

Looking forward to more--:o)..and love,

Ginny

I don't know about anybody else, but I learned to walk long before I was supposed to, and I was riding my bike with no training wheels when I was like 3 (though I did break my jaw after flipping over the handle bars at 4 & 1/2, but I skidded on wet leaves).

This OOBE thing though...man, I take a step forward and take five back. I AM sure I try too hard. Man, to be a toddler again. I could pick anything up.

Hey Ginny!  Yes, I am trying to get the hang of it..[:D] I am soooo much better from a dream, but that darn fear thing keeps popping up [:(!] and it really isn't even a great big fear...just a hint of ummmm, apprehension will cause me to go back to my physical.  I will get thru it though!!  I have always been "get back on the horse" type..[^] I will say that it does seem that it (the fear) is getting smaller and smaller each time. [:D]
*make a good teacher of it some day*---- that is what I love about AP, everyone tells of their experiences and even if it seems minor, it can help!

Fryenze- OUCH! that had to hurt..  I think trying too hard does seem to keep you from advancing. I wasn't even trying this time when it just happened. But then it just makes me WANT to try harder!..lol..go figure [:P]

Psi- I can't wait to see my first Castle..that isn't in a book!

Congrats Nay.
Its people like you sharing your experiences and progression that help keep others (such as me) motivated to practise.
I agree with your previous post about how important it is not to think about your physical body while in a lucid dream.

I had an experience not long ago where i half woke in the middle of a dream and then realised and fell straight back into the same dream.
i was standing in my kitchen and i said to the other people in there "im lucid dreaming", i got the same negative disbelieveing remarks as i had gotten in my last lucid dream (im not a lucid dream expert or anything.. ive had 4 in total but lately after reading and focusing so much energy on it ive had 3 in a month, the other i had as a child.)
I decided to prove it to them and proceeded to fly around the kitchen spinning in the air. i then decided i wanted to astral project from this dream but stupidly concentrated on moving my astral body without my dream body :S. as if in the dream i was in the physical, I woke up real quick after i did this.

On a side note does anyone else find that they arn't quite as bright in lucid dreams lol.
For instance my second from last lucid dream when i realised i was dreaming i used the look at a wall and try and change its colour technique. when that didnt work i was still sure i was dreaming, for some stupid and unknown reason i decided i would go to my house and see if i was inbed :S. so there i am in my house (in the dream) and the beds empty, i couldnt understand it, so i asked my friends and they told me i wasnt dreaming. i decided to believe them and thats all i can remember.. i must of drifted into dreaming normally.

ive drilled it into my head now that when i think im dreaming i just try to fly, it seems to get more results then trying to change things in the dream.

PS Keep up the good work Nay, your doing great.

Yeah,
i know the feeling, distractions get annoying. i hate the random itches that come from nowhere seemingly just to annoy you. I dont know about me doing good, im kinda new to all this. I did have an interest in the past but during college i decided to focus on college work, and alot of things got left behind.
Its only reading up on lucid dreams that has got me back here, i think its a great idea to work on remembering dreams and building on having lucid dreams, i think they could be a very useful way to get an OBE.
And as i said previously i had very little training.. just thinking every now and again about the question reality technique got me 3 lucid dreams and i found i could remember dreams alot better. Imagine having complete control over all of your dreams :D, ud never really sleep, live life during the day and night, think of the time we waste while sleeping :).

while im on i was meaning to ask, what technique do you use Nay, i mean through the day (such as meditation) and when you come to try and OBE? im imagining probebly many different ones? if you have answered the question in another post then just say and ill go look.

Anyway. must be going.

Nay,
I had almost the same experience..I was standing at the top of the stairs calling my husband, and when he didn't answer, I looked around, saw that everything was hazy and I felt WICKED heavy  and I thought, OMG I'm having an OBE! I didn't like it at all, I had thought I would feel lighter, and it basically SUCKED!  So I thought "BACK IN!" aand I immediatly went back in and opened my eyes.
I said to myself, W[xx(]ell if THAT'S an OBE, I don't wanna do it again!
So when I read your post, I was glad to hear someone else experienced the heaviness too. I am new here, and learning alot..maybe with e-1's help, I'll give it another shot. How do I make it better???

I have been dealing with this heaviness for awhile now!..ugh. I think it just will get better with time.. Maybe we don't have enough energy at the time?  I also am dealing with some fears of flying really fast..lol.. I am making progress everytime I get out!  So, Ametrine, don't give up! We will succeed together. [:D]

Rooj- I use to get those itches all over my face when I first started trying for a conscious projection...they were totally distracting!! [:(!] But I found if you just slowly bring up your hand and scratch it will be ok.  And who knows maybe next time you bring up your hand to scratch, it will be your astral arm.!(happened to me once)

Hey all [:D]

Some of you may or may not know I've been having problems actually getting up and away from my physical once I split.
Well, it happened this morning..!!  Whoo hoo!  Gee I didn't even think to look at the clock..[:(]
I was woke up by the vibrations..which is weird cause this has never happened to me. I was laying on my left side with my back to the door I started to rock back and forth to turn over so I would be facing the door.  It worked! Now I was facing the door but my vision was still hazy and I felt that heaviness, but NOTHING as near as it usually is. I tried to sit up, but just wasn't happening so I kinda crawled to the floor...hehehehe.  Yeah, crawled..  It worked though!
so here I was was on my hands and knees and I started to crawl towards the door to get away from my physical.  Got out into the hallway at the top of the stairs and stood up..really fast!  I felt kinda floaty and my vision still sucked so I said "clarity" but it didn't seem to work.  I was almost all the way down the stairs when  bam! I was back in the physical.
Everytime I have an experience I learn a new thing.. for instance I know I was thinking waaaaay toooo much about my physical and when I was almost at the bottom of the stairs I started thinking about hmmmmm wonder if I am going to see anything bad?...well..geez that is a no brainer right there!  I'm pretty sure that is why I went back to my physical..just the HINT of any fear screws it alllll up.
I just think too damn much!  I also was thinking about crawling across the floor and how funny it was...lol.
I really need to work on this..arrggh. it really is hard for me because my brain just doesn't stop! [:P]
Another thing that is interesting I didn't even try to have a conscious OOBE last night before going to sleep!  So, that goes to show me that you can try TOO hard and it will cause you not to have one. I was aware of this in theory, but was shown a very good example this morning!
Well, I was glad just to have gotten away from my physical.  And this is what I have been working towards...  Not that I don't enjoy projecting from dreams...just wanted to get good at doing it this way. And in my Whoo hooo post, well...I couldn't get up from my physical then and ended up blanking out and finding myself somewhere else. I don't want any blank areas...does that make sense?..I want to be aware the WHOLE time.
I know it will happen in time..and will not give up hope!!
Thanks for listening ya'll.  If anyone has some ideas..pleaaaase tell me!

Nay. [;)]
