Hi all :)
For many years I've been having regular(few times a week) Ap's which are usually out of my conscious control.  That is I never do anything really to bring them on, they just happen.
Over the last few weeks the Ap's have suddenly stopped.  I have tried meditating, listening to binaural beats, anything I can think of really.
Is there a way to trigger them again?  Or should I just go with them flow and let them happen randomly again?

Continue to meditate every day and let nature take it's course. What goals do you wish to achieve during Astral Travel? Do you use focused intent while attempting or do you just lay back and wait for something to occur? Try jumpstarting the process by using concentrated visuals. When I had problems before I started using the visual of a spinning top toy. I got the idea from that movie Inception. But I used it to jump start my AP's. I would just visualize the spinning top and watch as it morphed into an entire scene. One time it turned into a dancing Ballerina, then the next thing I knew I was dancing with her.
Good Luck  :-)

Good idea, if you dont want to have APs again. This should never be done in any supernatural thing. Supernatural abilities are depending from oneself, not from otherwhere or randomness.

First you should search the causes, because such things happen not without reasons. I'll help you.

Answer following questions:

Have you still the same amount of dreams like before or have you fewer dreams or even dreamless nights?

Have your dreams changed?

Has something changed some days till weeks before your APs stopped? (Job, sleeping times, food, relationships, noises from surroundings, illnesses...)

Have you done any methods before you lost your APs?

Do you make now always methods or more than half of nights?

How much time do you spend with the methods till sleep? Does any pre-OBE-phenomena occur?

The first thing, what you can already try is to split your sleep. This is an universal trick to become more OBEs and dreams. Sleep during day 1 till 3 hours, and cut this additional sleep off from the night sleep (Example: Before: night 8 gours, after: day 2 hours, night 6 hours). Between both sleeping periods should be at least 2 till 3 hours space.

Thanks for the insightful replies Lionheart and Proyect.
To answer what goals I have in regards to astral travel- I would like to explore as much as what I can about life and not just the physical.  After having a profound spiritual experience about 10 years ago, I realise there is more to life and I feel astral travel with give me more answers and help my learning experience.  That is my goal.
Sometimes I use focused intent, sometimes I wait and see what happens, either way nothing is happening at all.

Proyect- My dreams have become of a very dull quality lately and I can't remember them at all.  It even feels almost as if my nights and naps are dreamless.  This is in direct contract to my usual dreams that are full of colour and easily remembered.

The only things that have changed when the Ap's stopped is reading up a whole lots more of different aspects and techniques of astral travel.  I wonder if maybe there's an overload of information and perhaps my old brain is trying to process it all

Before I lost my Ap's, there was no method at all that brought them on-they just seemed to happen naturally.  They always happened though while I was having a 1or2 hour afternoon nap(never during nights)).  As I would start to wake up mentally, Ap's would just naturally occur.  There would be mind awakening, then usually a buzzing/roaring throughout, my mind's eye would feel as though it was expanding and then I would just be able to get out of my body.

With successful Obe's, there has never been any method used to bring them on.   As I'm mentally wakening up,but body is still asleep, sometimes I get sleep paralysis or a sense of my mind/mind's eye expanding-that is always a precursor to my obe's.
Lately though, nothing at all in the way of pre-obe-phenonema is happening at all.

Lionheart- Ahh I remember the movie Inception.  Think I will give the concentrated visuals a good go.  Right now I have the total relaxation and empty mind downpat.  But I guess having something solid to focus on will probably help alot.  But I have to say, I'm blown away by the fact that you can imagine it and then have it turn into reality!

Dreamless nights are a sign, that something is definitly going wrong with your sleep.

Following things should be checked and/or modified (all can be causes of dreamless nights):

-sleeping conditions (Temperature, clothes,...)
-amount of sleep (are you sleeping enough, dreamless nights can occur of one sleeps not enough)
-Food, if you eat directly before sleep, can it be bad. Also if you eat too much during day.
-medications can affect the sleep. Especially medications against pain or headache.

If the cause of your dreamless nights is gone, you will have your APs and dreams back.

Thanks Proyect,

Yes, maybe the temperatures are having an effect.  It's been so hot and humid here-sometimes between 27 and 30 Celcius at midnight and am having trouble feeling comfortable and don't feel like I fall into a good quality sleep.
I like a warm climate, but lately this is just too much-too hot.

proyect_outzone

Yes, thats the reason. When the temperature falls, you will have your dreams and APs back.

Ha ha, I just had an AP. :-D  Sorry, am just happy that it's come back to me.
Had a nap(daytime) and came to awareness sometime within the nap.  Started seeing swirling bright lights and just relaxed into them, then the buzzing sensation started.  I waited for it to die down a bit then just lifted myself up and out.
Everything was a murky black colour-no vision, so I moved away, lifted my hands up to my eyes and called "clarity now!".
My hands appeared in a shimmer of multicolour and then came into focus.  Then somehow I found myself on a road walking behind a man.  It all ended too quickly though when the baby living next door started crying and woke me up :-(

It was a bit disappointing that the experience seemed to have no colour, except for my hands coming into focus.  Not sure what that was all about.

proyect_outzone

Thats great.

QuoteIt was a bit disappointing that the experience seemed to have no colour, except for my hands coming into focus.

Many OBEs start with minimal configurations. Sometimes one can even completely blind for the first minutes of a OBE. Minimal configured OBEs occur especially, when induced intentionally by methods.

Reason is simply: The astral body has to be defined. During not intentional induced OBEs, one expects the own physical body and takes it's shape automatically into the OBE. But if one focuses during an intentional OBE attempt away from the physical body, the view,.... are the consequences, that these things often also lacks, when the intentional OBE begins.

Definitely food for thought.

I kept slipping in and out of obe's(before the baby woke me up) and had a short burst of a scene where a pop song was playing and I was throwing rubbish into a trash compacter.  That was in colour, but the scene was boring(and I dislike pop music) so I left.
