Hello OahnMacleod,

Sorry for this late posting but I don't often frequent this neck of the woods, as my forte - if that's not over-egging it - is occult philosophy and not, unfortunately, practical clog popping.

You haven't revealed to us what theoretical underpinning supports your obvious practical gifts, so please excuse me if I'm covering old ground.

The unit of human consciousness (spirit, jiva, your "I"ness) is held within layers of discrete energy fields vibrating at different frequencies which are - viewed from above, we are told - considered as matter of differing densities - bodies. We learn from Astral Dynamics that these bodies are detachable from the physical, and presumably are drawn to a plane of existence of similar vibration.

You ask if accessing two planes of consciousness at once is an OoBE. You're a computer man, think of your "I"ness as having a "consciousness register" containing a number of bits, each when set, giving you access to one of the seven planes  - Physical to Adi. When you're conscious only of the physical plane, only the physical plane bit is set but, during an OoBE you simultaneously clear the physical plane bit and set either the Astral or Mental one. You can answer your own question from here. In fact there is no such thing as an OoBE because you must be in one body or another. OoBE is a convenient shorthand for "Physical Bit Cleared".

An interesting corollary of this is what happens when all the consciousness bits are set. Clearly you have access to all the planes of consciousness at once, and maybe approach the consciousness of Deity. Is this what is meant by the esoteric term "identification"?

Now I have a question for you. What, then, is a dream - lucid or otherwise? All I can do is tell of a recent experience which may or may not shed some light.

One night, I was forcibly ejected from the dream I was having and found myself standing on my bed, presumably in the RTZ. Were it not for the fact that I was blinded, apparently as a consequence of my quick exit, I would have taken more notice, and not "wimp out" back to good old fizz bod. Next day while mulling over that experience, a thought popped into my head which I don't understand and which must stand or fall in the fullness of time. I'm embarrassed to reveal it here because my rational mind revolts against it, viewing it as "pretentious piffle". But, here goes. "A dream is a symbolic vehicle floating on the planes of reality". Any takers?

I can hear the men in white coats reaching for the restraints.

Best wishes

Question to those who are experienced with this...
I have never been successful at having an OOBE as outlined by Bruce or Monroe or other techniques written. Perhaps because I fit the catagory of being very visually oriented I have the bad habit of expectation and my mind takes over with imagination before the OOBE can occur?
However, as I stated on another post, I wonder how many of the other 'journeys' I've taken in the dream state or through guided imagery might have been OOBE that was taking place in the Astral or other realms. As I am reading more and more of Astral Dynamics I am finding answers to the phenomena I have been experiencing all of these years with my now being able to better understand the fuller context of those events.
On this one occasion when I was doing a guided imagery session with a practioner, at some point my body went very deep in trance and felt as if I was lifting above the earth and accelerating beyond the planets and stars, beyond all known universes until all of it looked like a pinpoint of light at what I perceived to be the 'known center' of the universe. As I was accelerating away, (there was no visual point of reference other than the pin point of light that I was accelerating away from in the total darkness), I passed what appeared to be a (Native American Shaman?) who waved to me and who was also venturing out to wherever my soul was accelerating to. Finally I got to the end of my journey. I hit what felt to be a wall, however, it was more like a membrane, kinda like spiderwebs and jello? I concentrated on piercing it with my body to see what was beyond it and THIS is what stuck with me the strongest and actually changed my entire paradigm about the universe we are in. As I looked beyond the dark membrane of what was our universe's boundary. I saw many, many other universes which looked liked black orbs floating in what was some kind of cotton candy colored space with rays of gold and other light pulses flashing and shooting around, and floating in between the orbs where these colorful matrixes? and geometrical designs which I understood as to having intelligence to them? Some of these orb looked to be more transparent than other in that you could see that all seem to have the same center point of light eminating from their centers and some had more light filling their inner space than others. What was imparted to me while viewing all of this was that whatever created this place, (the universe), was merely making more of itself and the light that these 'universes' produced where the product of evolution and beings, much like ourselves, raising their vibrations, multiplying and creating more mass and being to their own universes. What I was seeing then was a macrocosmic view of the insides of God's being perhaps much the way the little scientists did in that movie where they were shrunk down and went into a human body? This place outside our universe was about light and vibration and geometry and stuff my mind could not understand, but it had life force energy to it, if that makes any sense?
The reason I am sharing this with you all is because the way I came back to my body was so fast and sudden, as if I was attached to the physical person lying there during the session and further, I was relating this experience to the practioner while it was unfolding. During this time, I could actually feel that my mind/focus was consciously in two places at the same time. In reading up on the topic of OOBE's, I am now discovering that this is not all too uncommon.
So, the question then is could this have been an OOBE? By that, I am not saying that this experience is truly how it is, but merely how my mind interpreted it. Thank you for any feedback on this...
