If you keep your body completely still for a half an hour can you trick your body to fall asleep and astral project even if you're not tired? I've got a lot of free time and if it works for people I'd be willing to try it. Haven't had any success yet astral projecting while I sleep so I just wondered if anyone came across a method that they use during the day?

Well, to directly answer the question in your subject line... YES, you can project during the day just fine.  Although, NOT with the method you suggest.

What you're trying to do is called a "conscious projection".  Meaning, you're attempting to project from a completely consciously aware state.  You do this through meditation.

A few can do this, most cannot. With a good number of experiences, the percentage can change a little.

For the rest of us, we have to find opportunities when we may discover that the link between our awareness and our body can be consciously disconnected. This natural opportunity occurs most often in the middle of the night, early morning or daytime nap events. Early on it is often an experimental and accidental occurrence; later on, a certain ability is understood and can be applied other times to greater success.

It's not something you just try once or twice and then get bored with...for most, it takes a considerable degree of commitment; if you are unwilling to commit even a small amount of effort towards this, then just don't bother in the first place.
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

I'd qualify that statement by saying that... a few can do this, but everyone can learn to do it.  :)

As you point out though, it is easier to project through other means.

Altered states can be attained at any time of day. I find that my best work is sometimes done at night after I've had a sleep cycle. Focus is very important for projection so you have to be alert enough to focus while remaining relaxed. At night the challenge is focus, during the day it's relaxation. Ideally you should be able to control the state and project at will. I often ( probably too often) point out that the description of Edgar Cayce's readings and how he obtained them, involved astral projection. He was able to do this several times a day at will.

Focus and disconnection are the main ingredients. It works well too, a lot of previous experience is a massive help in being successful. You need to know the feelings associated and an exit can be achieved in a few mins. Its fairly consistent too, you can expect 4 out of 5 attempts to work once you have everything set up. Knowing the requirements is an individual learning, these took a while to get spot on.
I did this nearly every day in the 80's. I can do it today if my circumstances allowed the time. I had 1 hour from start to finish in the 80's, this time included traveling a mile or so home.

I always practice during the day, 2 times per day when I can. And I got out once I watched my body aside of me. So yes for sure you can, you SHOULD practice during the day it helps you stay concentrated because at night the brain is used to go to sleep it's a hard habbit to break. Some people succeeded but some of them report having trouble sleeping afterward. Since you were born you sleep at night, this is why it's harder to stay awake along with the fact you're tired and that your sleep cycles begin at night.

I agree with Soki.   I agree with the others but I do what Soki does.   Occasionally I ap during the day but it is not often.    I have more success in the mornings after I have had a sleep.    I like to meditate during the day even though I mostly do not ap.    It helps me to stay awake at night time.   I do not try to ap when I am tired.   When I am tired I just want to go to sleep.
