how do I know I actually projected?

I think I  have projected.
In the early hours of the morning, in the so called hypnopompic state I was emerging from the dream state of consciousness and I became aware that  this condition was a good opportunity to try OBEs. I remember a good deal of details. Once as soon as I found myself in this condition I ordered myself to take off and I did. I remember being able to observe my surroundings. It was on the edge of a vibrant green decidual forest, I was flying following a cleared path at approximately a hundred feet high. I remember telling myself how real and wonderful all this was. Then I became more enterprising, I decided to fly higher and to try and visit an old girlfriend in Bonn Germany. I gained altitude and the sky became darker, almost black. Then I panicked and woke up. Another example was somewhat comparable in circumstances. I gained waking consciousness as I was dreaming being in our garden which is on a gentle slope towards a lake.  I thought this is a good opportunity to try OBE and I said to myself the best reality test is to try to fly. And I did. The flight was quite pathetic.  It was a bit like a large swan trying to take off. I was doing a lot of running and a little bit of gliding. The interesting part of this (to me) was that as I was doing that I remember telling myself: this should become a routine path to OBEs. I should work on generating  dreams where I find myself in the garden trying to glide my way down to the lake.

Sorry Folks for this boring story. My question to you more experienced travellers is this: did I actually project. I have read many books about OBEs and the Astral and my understanding is that OBEs are something more spectacular and much longer than what I lived.

Serge, no success story is boring, especially to the person that was successful!  :-)

Yes you did shift while consciously aware of it. In other words, you projected. Congratulations!

Don't worry about you what you read about other people's adventures. Just observe what you are experiencing yourself for now. That is the reason I don't share my own adventures. I want people to experience their own things and not have to compare their adventures to mine.

Your first conscious shifts will normally be very short, that is until you learn how to ground yourself in the scenario you find yourself in. You do that by engaging your senses. Try to smell the air, touch the grass, feel the breeze. The deeper you get involved or embroiled in the scenario at hand, the longer you will stay.

Well done serge! Not just one but two conscious OBEs! Congratulations to your efforts!

And you showed clear thinking and good memory of your experiences. You are right, the hypnopompic state is a great opportunity for an OBE as is a Lucid Dream.

I have fond memories of my early days trying to fly- flapping my arms and running and jumping into the air; some days it was SO easy and other days it was impossible, lol. When this happens to you it is the environment trying to teach you something/ an opportunity to learn an important lesson about cause and effect and "how" we actually do things in the Non-Physical.

Well done!
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

How do you know when you're dreaming?

Subu

I have the same question! How do we know something that we dreamt involving our imagination (like we are seeing ourself and having OBE) and something that we actually projected into reality via OBE. Now I think the difference between the two is, the former uses our fabrication of thoughts, feelings and senses, whereas the latter uses the awareness. I don't know for sure that this is the difference between imagining and having a real astral projection, but clarifications will be welcomed.

Everything is consciousness.  There's really no such thing as "outside of you" and "inside of you".  There just "is".

According to your theory (Which I believe in), what is the difference between reality and the so called "imagination". Why the reality is more tangible and linear than the imagination?

Very little actually.
This physical reality is more solid and unchanging simply due to the sheer number of individual units of awareness currently experiencing and creating.
Your imagination, likewise, is not solid and can be destroyed rather readily since it's just your awareness sustaining and creating it.  You can imagine it again and re-create it.

With all due respect and curiosity to learn, what do you think about the time where all of humanity thinks that the world is flat? that awareness doesn't create the reality, right?

Man it has been a long time since I last posted but what I was going to say is that consciousness is everything so even if people thought the world was flat, in the future we now know it's not. That being said it is possible that consciousness its self already has everything about the universe down to a science it's just the place in time that me or you discover it, things become new to us even if it was already discovered some time in the future. This doesn't necessarily mean that time it self is just point a to point b it's just that it was already a possible out come of many. I find that consciousness is like a really complex quantum computer.

Glad to be back  :-D

Okay, Okay, now let me ask the same question with different words in it.

Does Astral Projection involve only my awareness/consciousness (imagination)? Or does it happen in the collective awareness/consciousness world (reality)?

Can someone explain with practicality?

Again, I am not challenging anyone here, I am just looking for an opportunity to strengthen my Faith and turn it into my Belief.

I don't know.  :)

Who's to say the world wasn't flat at that point in time?
Then it took the extremely strong Intent of several people to change that notion?

There are so many more layers of complication to it than just "most of humanity thinks *this*, so this is how it should have been".
If it was that simple, we would have figured out reality by now. hehe

Don't believe.  Wait until you can KNOW for yourself through your own direct experiences.
