Cube, perhaps you could try the rotated or the simple reintegration procedure we discussed to superstabilize your state. Just go back to your bedroom and lay down into the position of you sleeping body. If you'll fail, at least you'll accumulate further feelings of reseparation.

Hi cube.

Ive never looked into a mirror in the astral before. Was your reflection as it is in the physical?

Also, just wondering, why would you want to change your shorts?
No one can see you and you have no real legs to put through them! I think concentrating unnecesarily on doing things you would do in the physical can be a cause for a premature return..along with thinking about the future etc because it makes you think about your physical and hence finding yourself back inside it.

Well dang, I wound up dozing until 2:20 and I didn't even project.

My image in the mirror was something else that was different from my last OBE. The time before my hairstyle was mix of my new and old haircuts. This time it was completely my old hairstyle. I was also wearing glasses this time and I definitely wasn't wearing them in bed.

I hadn't intended to see myself this time, the mirror is really big and it's hard not to miss when I was seeing how my place had changed. It looked like there was some kind of stain on my clothes and I figured that if I could see it then so could my guides. I wanted to go chat with them and didn't want to look like a total slob.

upstream, I tried going through the process but it wasn't working out. I found that I could feel myself creating the body double but then wasn't relaxed enough to transfer to it. Then I would fall asleep and not have awareness to project. I think it just take practice in some cases.

Cube, I'm unable to do that... However, it's not required for the trick I suggested to you to stabilize your dreams. It is very possisble that we don't understand each other.

Here it is in details what I've suggested to you in my previous post to prevent premature awakenings. First, you do your method to project as you used to do. When you get the feeling that you're able to separate, you'll do it, again, as you used to do. I'm assume when you'll look back you'll don't see any physical body or double (as I do in 95-99% of my experiences). So, at this point there is no difference whether you separated or simply waked up in the dream. You should do basic stabilization by looking and grabbing things in the dream and observing fine details before doing the trick.

When the dream become stable and looks pretty much like awake reality, you go back to your bedroom and lay back on your empty bed. The most important thing to do is to arrange your dream body exactly to the position of your sleeping physical body by (a) lying in the same orientation as your physical body is supposed to, or (b) by lying in opposite direction. You should do a mindblank and wait for the feelings of reattachment/preseparation before you could separate again. The (a) version will work 4 from 5 times (depending the exact type of the base experience and the interval it is performed). The (b) version is not tested properly...yet.

If performed in regular intervalls this trick will restart dreaming by mimicking the mechanisms underlying the process of the first separation. No levitation in etheric doubles and likes are required.

Are you saying that I turn a dream into a lucid dream and the use that to go into an OBE? For me if I can become lucid enough to know that I'm dreaming, then I can turn it into an OBE more or less automatically. My problem is getting awareness in the dream in the first place.

In dreams I have a different personality and I never remember my physical self. When I was younger that wasn't the case, but it seems as I've grown my dream self and physical self are not on speaking terms any more.

What I really want to do is learn to project straight from a waking state, which is why I'm finding the remembering the feeling right before an OBE is important.

Not exactly. The main point is to stabilize the actual LD/OBE/AP and extend it for - possible - hours.

I'm a sleep biologist. It seem to me, that dreams are the launch pad for repeatable, direct out of body experiences, because the ultradian process underlying regular dreaming will emerge in every 90 minutes and dreaming is very similar to wakefulness. As opposite, "sleep pressure" (required for stable trance) increase gradually by wakefulness and very different from it.

The dreaming brain forced to shut down "internally" when you project your consciousness far away from the RTZ. The result is an "astral projection." Also, dreams can be used for etheric OBE by special attention driving.

I woke up at 5:20, got up for one hour then went back to bed at 6:20. I've read in several places that the interrupted sleep technique is best when you stay awake for an hour rather than going beck to bed immediately, and from my experience this seems to be the case.

I had some semi-lucid dreams, they were more vivid than usual but I wasn't totally aware. I found that I was in bed and ready to project, I was laying on my stomach with the "it's time to project" feeling. I lay there a moment observing the way it felt so that I would be able to use that sensation later to produce a conscious projection.

I did deep breaths and started rapidly switching between astral and physical sight. My physical eyes were closed by my astral eyes were slightly open looking down into my covers. My astral covers were pinstriped rather than solid blue.

I separated and got up out of bed, I walked around my apartment a bit. The last time I projected here there were almost no differences between the astral and physical versions, but this time it was like it had been remodeled.

First of all the rooms were all a little wider and bigger feeling. There were many potted plants in the work area. My bedroom had a recessed ledge on the wall where there was a long line of about 50 candles in jars.

The walls looked like there was a shiny black covering on them, but it could have been mirroring and if I'd turned on a light they would not have looked black. Instead of the linen closet there was a seond bathroom that looked like it was made out of smooth brown granite, way more expensive than anything I can afford.

Instead of red baggy shorts and a white T shirt I was wearing black baggy shorts and no T shirt. My shorts were dirty looking so I decided to change them and go out exploring. I was in the bathroom looking at myself in the mirror telling myself out loud that this is going to be a long projection and then it was over!

I have a feeling I accidentally broke my 'no imagination while in the RTZ' rule. By thinking about what's going to happen in the future and not what's being experienced right then I weakened the connection and lost it.

I woke up at 8:50 and got up to type this. I'm going to lay back down and try for another, I will try to recall the sensation and go for a more conscious projection without falling asleep first.

My theory about the RTZ/physical world differences are that the differences are mostly magnifications of what I've done since I moved here. I bought a couple candles that I keep burning in the hopes of attracting positive spirits, I've got a potted plant sitting in the middle of the room because I'm not sure where to put it. I've got some pillows propped up against the wall like a chair and I think that may be where the red leather/vinyl armchair came from that I saw in a previous OBE.

I think maybe my higher self has better taste than I do and has fixed up the astral version of this place better than I have. My overall feel of my astral apartment was that it was owned by someone with a lot more money than I have, I liked it but went I was back in the physical everything looked a little cheap and inadequate.

Anyway, this is in line with the new age idea that the things we do on the physical plane affect our higher selves all the way up the line as far as the line may go. So it's in our higher selves interests not to let us get lazy.
