Title: How many of you are successful at AP while GOING to bed? (Not in the morning)
Post by: Indianspirit on April 13, 2014, 22:13:31
I just don't think that waking up at strange times and messing with my sleep schedule is something I can muster up so is it possible to just will yourself to stay wake while the body goes to sleep? I've heard one method where you keep your arms kinda up and then it will jerk you back awake if you start to fall asleep. Basically is it possible to just will yourself to stay awake and eventually your body will just have to go to sleep? How long would this take? I know it's not healthy but I want to at least AP once so I want to know if it's possible to just remain conscious? I don't have work or any appointments or anything so if I get a little sleep deprived I can handle it. I know it's not healthy and doing it all the time can cause changes to the brain or something but I'm willing to do it at least once or a few tries if it's a way to keep your consciousness from falling asleep while the body sleeps. Basically is there any sure fire way to just "FORCE" astral projection.

I used to do it before bed all the time. --Still do sometimes.  The way I do it I think I actually get more sleep not less.  This is what works for me.  Get up early in the morning, and around 7 or 8 in the evening, take a 2 hr. nap.  Do not attempt AP at this time.  Then go to bed around 11.  This is when you do your attempt.  The nap will help make projecting easier.  You get plenty of total sleep this way.

You can't force AP.  You can only allow it to happen.  It may happen-it may not.  It takes practice.  You need to put yourself in a meditative trance to AP, so holding your arm up and having it fall would just jerk you out of your trance.  There are lots of great AP techniques on this site for you to try.  Pick one and have at it.  Good luck to you!

You can try to ap before bed.   I would not try if you are tired as you are likely to fall asleep.  Keep practicing every night and eventually it could happen.   Do not talk yourself out of not being able to ap or think it will take too long to ap.    If you do that, ap could become harder to do.
Indianspirit is correct, you cannot force ap to happen.   It will happen when it wants to happen.    Indianspirit has a good suggestion to get some sleep first as that will make ap easier.   You might surprise yourself if you try it.    It may not wreck your sleeping pattern.    I get up in the early in the mornings to practice ap and I am not tired and it does not wreck my sleeping pattern.    The arm technique is not a good idea as it will make you awake again.   I tried it years ago and I realised it was not a good idea.    Someone on another forum thought it was ridiculous.

The easiest method I've been using lately is astral projecting at night, I just get comfortable in bed close my eyes and pretend there's  a tornado on top of my head sucking out all my silly belief traps. While doing that I tune into my heartbeat like I'm listening to a radio station in the background. If I pay too much attention to either things I don't project but if I let go while barely hanging on I project every time. The harder I try the harder it is to project, when I don't really try I'm already in the non physical. I hope this helps, good luck and keep us posted on your progress :-D

Ive asked tons of people about whens the best time of the day for them . They always say that in the morning right after they wake up is when its best for them. And most of them always say how more difficult it is to astral project at night.

From believing that it's hard to project at night is keeping you from projecting at night. I hope that makes sense. I never thought I could project during the day I was jealous of people that said how easy it was. But after some reading and practicing I realized I could project during the day. I promise it's just as easy to go to sleep tonight and project within 30 min or less (depending on the person) your kinda in a belief trap that you believe it's difficult to astral travel at night. You might want to ask yourself if your Leary of the dark, maybe your blocking yourself that way too. Throw everything you think you know away and believe. It will work. Hope I helped lol. This astral traveling stuff can be confusing but simple at the time.

Yeah, I've also heard a lot of people say you can't project at night before bed.

I've done it quite a few times though and it's just the same as doing it at any other time.
The only thing I did find, was that the experiences were shorter in length.

I prefer to project, rather than fall asleep, easier for me that way.  Although, if I had a few intense or busy nights, feel overworked, I'll just skip projection, may try to dream instead or hop right into that blackness of sleep.

For me a short 5 minute practice session while attempting sleep will normally be rewarded by a very conscious LD. If not multiple ones.  :-)
