Hypnagogic Stage?

Forgive me if i spelled Hypnagogic wrong

Ok so heres been my schedule literally the past 2-3 weeks of my life, I work 6-11 every other day, stay up and hang out with my friends and do whatever till about 3 or so, still dont feel tired so i game till about 5 or 6 in the morning. I sleep everyday until about 3 or 4 PM(not a good schedule but i plan to change it after the christmas break)

From 5AM until whenever i decide to start my day, i will wake up from sleep about 2-3 times every day unintentionally. At those times when i wake up i decide to try and practice projecting. Theres never been a time yet where ive woken up about 2-3 hours after falling asleep, only really later hours.

EVERY TIME ive practiced i will get deep into the hypnagogic state, ill begin to see swirls of colors going in my vision, flashing lights, and all sorts of other things. i can begin to feel my body either start to sink or get energy going. Once i feel this i start saying "im out of my body 1" and exhale and keep doing that until about 100 or more.

But for some reason, it seems like at least, ill ALWAYS slip into a dream. And the dream ALWAYS seems to to be just trying to get my attention every time for me to realize that im just actually "dreaming". For instance this is just what happened moments ago before i woke up to start my day. I dreamed that i was laying on my bed trying to project and i started to float up, but for some reason it didnt register that i was dreaming.

This is really annoying because like i said, ill have about 2-3 dreams a day of me either trying to project in the "dream" or im doing something completely out of the ordinary to where i should realize "hey im dreaming!" and ive had about 1 lucid dream a week now, so why cant i keep having them when ive been practicing to actually induce one.

I'll tell people to never, never try and project when even slightly tired. Do so, when you're fully rested. Activate your astral-body by focusing on your body, limb for limb.
Right after you woke up from the night there's a tendency to fall back to sleep.

The brain needs full capacity to process as much memory data from the experience as possible. Go to nap every now and then and say byebye to memory storage.

Good luck.

kind regards,

Paul

I just don't get why I keep slipping into dreams, am I not staying aware long enough? And ive been doing the techniques to become lucidly aware in dreams For about a month now, and they've been working because I get atleast 1 lucid dream a week. Why can't I become lucid in these dreams that I slip into anyways? It's like I'm losing at both things :( lol

Because you're not keeping your mind active enough, yes.

I don't know how I can keep it active than I already am! Didn't it kind of have the steps in franks guide of focus of how far you are? I thought if you start to see flashing lights then that's pretty close. But then what about the constant dreams that I slip into that are pretty much hinting at me, every night

this is good advice in the sense that you'll be in much better control when you do exit.

however.

i've been in a dry spell for like 10 months and when i finally broke my dry spell the other day i was able to do it because i was really tired.  i have never been able to project when i'm rested.  like i'll try in the morning after getting a good long nights sleep and i can never do it, i'm too awake/active.  it seems to work the best for me in the afternoon after i've gotten up early and am ready for a nap.  i have always felt that being tired enough to take a nap has been crucial in my success.  for me it's because i have an over-active mind (i'm always thinking) and if i'm not tired i can't "let go" enough to switch over to astral awareness.  when i'm rested my mind is too active and i can't "sink" low enough to project.

but that's just me.  to each his own.
be awesome.

If you wanna talk focus levels, I'd suggest starting with Monroe's Focus Model.  :)
That'll give you a better idea of how far along you are.

Seeing "flashing lights" could be the start of Focus 12, but without too much other information it's hard to know.

As for keeping your mind active... what generally happens is that you'll be really focused, then for a split second, you'll lose that focus... THAT is when you generally fall asleep.
It's important to keep your mind active enough and focused so that split second loss doesn't happen.  It's the fine mental balancing act that everyone talks about. :)

I guess I must be close because my dreams sure do want me to realize I'm dreaming atleast, I just don't know why I cant

I've had flashing lights just after doing some energy work. I don't think it needs to mean anything, not even much in terms of Focus Levels.

Maybe you could try to get into the habit of asking yourself if you're dreaming before you make projection attempts. If it's habitual in the waking you might start to ask the question in the dreams as well.

*edit* i deleted what i orginally posted :(

pretty much i was trying to project and i got deep into the transe state and dosed off into a dream. the dream was me entering an elevator with 2 other men and me offering to shake their hand, they shook my hand then directly after one of them punched me sending me to the floor in a state of shock? and instantly snapping me back to waking up.

NickisDank

Is there any reason why this happened? the only thing i can think of is that it was my subconcious trying to prevent me from projecting or something?

i havent attempted anything since this happened, so any ideas?

You'd have to first figure out what the two men represent and then figure out what the 'violence' towards you represents.

But I'll tell you this, if you had stayed consciously aware moving into the dream, then that's Phasing... :)
