I've said this before, you need coaching, someone from you're home town that can personally help you. Find someone bonna fide, not a quack, a school and method with some track record, and several recommendations from friends or acquintances. After several hours of this coaching, then you can try out other techniques.

I use the classic rope method, and have had some success with it.  

Mirador, not everyone has access to local teachers.  If you are as smart as you make yourself out to be you should realize this.  I am not trying to be mean, you just need to learn that for some people this is the single greatest resource to learn about this stuff, and people like you telling them to look elsewhere is not helping their situation.  Instead of telling them to look elsewhere for help why don't you step up and help them anyway you can.

Mirador, links is right i do not have access to any teachers.. i have acess to basically ntohign ebcasue it wou8ldn all involve my parents knowing that im researching these things, they r simple midned people, and would kik me out of my home...so i cannot find a teacher anyfurther then my firend toad who ahs been helping me but isnt getting any sucess either(he only started a bit before myself),

beavis: thansk for the advice but i do not want to try pot, i have a couple of friends who are on pot and i dont like what it does to your personality/outlook on life, thanks anyways...

Before you try techniques (which will only frustrate you, trust me), you need to work on relaxation and awareness.  Forget OBEs for a little while and do these two things:

1.  When you find yourself falling asleep, fight the urge to "black out" and pay close attention to the dream-images you "see."  After a few moments, get up and write them down.  Don't try too hard to make sense of them; the whole point is to keep your awareness about you while you're falling asleep.  Get used to it.

2.  Vow to become lucid (i.e., wake up) in your dreams. You can program your brain to do this for you by applying the proper intent (i.e., you REALLY want to do this), and applying a few "rules," i.e., "I'll wake up as soon as I see my hands."  During the day, look at your hands all the time, make it a habit.  You'll take your habit into your dreams, look at your dream hands, and "wake up."

3.  Do your best to eliminate unnecessary stress from your life. Mostly this requires a change in attitude, rather than conditions, but sometimes you need to change your life conditions.

Do these things for a few weeks, then report back to us, on this very same string. Have fun!

I have been researching metaphysic's for over a year, primarily in the area of OOBE's. i have had little , because i have a hard time relaxing i think, i have goten basicaly as far as i start to feel myself separating but no further. I have tried many techniques, so many in fact that i cant keep one straight from another anymore....can someone tell me some of the techniques that have proved more sucessfull for them...and some relaxation excersises maybe?
