I would like to know if what happened to me as a child is astral projection.
This only happened to me twice for all I can remember.
I was 6 or 7 years old and I remember waking up and my face seemed only inches from the ceiling. As soon as I realised I was floating, it felt as if I slammed back into my bed. It scared me so bad. Observing wasn't on the agenda. This happened two nights in a row and then never again. I also to this day have trouble sleeping.

What you experienced is energy body-loosening. I am able to get to this point everyday but the hard part is transferring your full awareness into the energy body and being able to see. It can be strange at first having your awareness inside a floating energy body but you'll get use to it!
I can figure out how I was doing it. Although I never tried after that. My father liked to watch documentries on alien abductions, so that's where my mind went to back then. I thought I was being abducted. Scared me bad.
So where would I learn to control it properly?

I wasn't paying attention to what was going on. So I never noticed if I was physically floating or what was going on. As soon as I realised that I could lick the ceiling, I fell.
