I'm not sure what to do

 Today I laid down for a nap. I awakened into a comfortable state of sleep paralysis which happens to me occasionally. I felt curious to try to leave my body as I have done a few times before. I noticed my right arm was resting on the space between my eyebrows. Somehow I was to move my arm a bit and when I did I began to detach from my body from the space between my eyebrows. As I began to leave my body I could see light and what looked like different small multi-colored geometric shapes resembling confetti falling from the sky. At that very moment  felt emotions I have never experienced before and cannot describe. Amongst the light I here the soft voice of a woman tell me, "Come on, I have some places I want to take you". In astonishment and fear I came back to my body. As I re-entered my body it felt like my spirit body was filling my flesh much like water filling a cup.

     I'm amazed, confused, and honestly a bit afraid. I feel like my whole perception of reality and existence is so small. I know that there's something I have to learn, but I'm not sure what. I'm really intimidated to explore other realms, because I don't know what to expect. Can anyone give me an idea of how to approach this? How do I know this entity isn't demonic? I have know idea what to do. Any response would be appreciated.

Don't be afraid. Nothing can harm you.

You already have displayed a good, natural response to the exit impulse; The sensations did not shake you too much.

The only thing to fear is your own fear. And if you let it get out of control, it can turn into a bumpy ride.

You have to maintain tight control over your emotions, no fear and not too much excitement. You will get tested from time to time. Just remain mildly curious to what happens next. Observe...

This voice is most likely from your subconscious or your higher self, inviting you out. Pretty wild, isn't it?

Go have an adventure! Have fun! That's the whole point, right?

May I ask what you mean by being tested from time to time? Is it possible my higher self is a woman? This stuff is completely foreign to me.

Your higher self most likely displays both masculine and feminine qualities. The feminine voice may have been chosen because it is less threatening to you.

Testing comes in many forms. Initially, your true desire and capacity to project will probably be tested by pulling images and audios and feelings from your subconscious to throw at you while you are experiencing out of body exits and in close proximity to your physical body. Noises designed to distract you, frustrate you...visuals that will push your emotional control, fear namely. These, I liken to a subconscious safety mechanism, testing whether you are really willing to do this.

Later, I guess, your higher self or other instructors begin testing you in more sophisticated and subtle ways.

Given this, do you see how even though you had a warm, feminine voice inviting you to follow her, your astonishment was enough to end the experience? Not that you did anything wrong (you did very well, in fact!), but do you start to get a sense of how important it is to control your emotional response? Over-excitement can be almost as disruptive as fear or panic.

Can you tell me if there is a way I can learn to control my emotions while projecting? Is it just a matter of gaining more experience?

Although it may be an unknown to you, the invitations should be taken without any worries. These occur to many of us and seem to be an initial part of the learning.
The things you see are what's required for you personally and the experience itself is usually awe inspiring.
It may feel like your tiptoeing across a busy highway but the truth is you're actually on the bridge and very safe.
Don't doubt yourself and remove these religious demonic ideas. They are nothing like you believe them to be. These are control measures introduced by the church to scare the crap out of people to do as they are told.
Remember the witch hunts of ages past?

Total nonsense created by decievers, you are protected by your guides in a big way so go enjoy yourself on the path to enlightenment and beyond.

The experience of several encounters will help. Emotional neutrality is needed; a passive curiosity to pull you forward. As Szaxx says, go with the flow and be confident. If things ever get difficult, overwhelming Love overcomes all.
