Interesting Conscious OBE experience

Bismillahirahmaniraheem.

Hello everyone. An interesting thing happened to me this morning. Whilst I've experienced more or less spontaneous OBE experiences or lucid dream experiences at various times in my past, last night/this morning I had a peculiar one. The first time I was able to induce an experience with conscious "ease". I'd appreciate experienced travelers.

In general, at times I experience not "vibrations" per say but the INTENSE sensation of rotating around "inside of me" around some vertical axis extending down through my body. Sometimes accompanied by night paralysis or terrors, sensations that I'm being watched, and so on. At times I hear high-pitched sounds, and a sensation like I'm being "dragged" out. As I've experimented with spiritual exercises in my youth this may occur with greater frequency.

Reading about Sufi dervish exercises in inducing waking visions in a hypnagogic state (similar to what people here call phasing) in order to travel to "hurqalya" and later stumbling across Robert Bruce's Book on astral projection my awareness of what I was experiencing increased.
Lastly I read Julius Evola's Introduction to Magic and the chapters on conquering the threshold of sleep helped me understand what was going on to a greater degree.

I found after some time that if I could induce a relaxed enough state in my body nearing sleep whilst keeping a watchful and alert hold on my conscious mind I was allowed to persist pass the threshold of physical body sleep with some degree of lucid consciousness. This would fade at times into an intense dream or near lucid dream, with occasional bouts of lucidity, at times with me waking from one dream in my bed in another dream and so on in layers.

Sometimes after an amorous adventure, or when sleeping in a different environment, this spontaneously occurs. Without my bidding, I would lie in bed and just feel vibrations or turning around and sleep paralysis. In particular sleeping next to someone who was very psychic, or in the same house as this individual but in a separate room. Does anyone else experience this?

Anyway late last night I woke up and realized it was the last quarter of the night, near dawn. I reset my alarm clock and cell phone alarm and decided to try to consciously "project".

This has been very much on my mind the last week, after a year or so of barely not even thinking about such matters. A few days ago I checked astralpulse for the first time in at least a year. And for some reason the last couple of days I've found myself going into a theta like trance easily at work, even in the car !!!

So I decided to just try something out for a few minutes and see what happens. I relaxed myself with a progressive muscle tension exercise, and lay my arms over my head, sort of back, and then "watched" or concentrated on the leading edge of my breath. Soon things slowed, I felt heavy but as long as I focused on my breathing my consciousness remained.

I felt the spinning sensation and had presence of mind enough to try to "reach" outside of myself. So I pulled and whoa, out I go "above me" briefly to sort of settle on the floor. I realized that I was outside of me, or at least in a lucid dream, or both. So I tried to pass through my door and frame - but couldn't or wouldn't so I "opened" the door and walked out. I was in a dreamland version, or subtle reflection, of my house in the daylight (this was about 6:30AM).

The only strange things I saw was what appeared to be dog excrement, a could of turds, on my living room hardwood floor, I walked around through the kitchen and around again, and encountered a small white furry dog thing, almost poodle like. It was aggressive but I told it? or bade it to stay away.

Anyway I walked back into my living room and found a very cute young brunette lady, with a modish haircut, lounging there. I had the impression that this was somehow also her house? But wait, it's mine! But the astral version she lived in?

She was attractive and I found myself giving her bedroom eyes, glancing at her lips, all of that, and then making a move on her, and then gently making love to her after, eh, hitching her skirts up :-)  But not for long. It wasn't even a conscious decision, very instinctual, i didn't even really decide, if I recall well, to do it - I just started doing her?!? Very strange. Just a bit of brief copulation without orgasm before I decided to leave her and go back downstairs. She and I did talk a little bit but I don't recall what was said. I heard my alarm clock going off in the distance, realized I needed to get to work early, so I "laid back" down, I think, and tried to awaken.

So I "woke" up with sleep paralysis and unable to see in front of me. By force of will I made some of my limbs move and lifted myself out of the bed with a blanket still over my face but able to dimly see between the threads, but something was odd. I realized I was still asleep and was not yet in a physical reality.

Still I had to take a pee so I figured I'd go to the bathroom first, and then attend to the problem of waking up "for real". So I walk into my bathroom, find it completely re-arranged! A mirror reflection almost of my physical bathroom, the toilet was on the opposite wall, next to the door. Oh well, so I started to use it, and tried to pass out urine. I hade the sensation of doing so but little came out if any, then I was aware of an aggressive presence outside the door, I opened up a bit and through the wood almost saw an angry older middle age lady, heavyset and dark hair, there may or may not have been some animal with her too. For protection I recited a prayer in Arabic - "Audhubillahi minashaitan " - the words are an incantation of sorts seeking protection from the "Jinn". In any case she was ticked off ! But I had enough time to "blip" out of there, back "into me" and wake up to the alarm clock.

Needless to say I went to work late.

This was the first time I was able to consciously lay down intending to "project" or travel "outside" my body, and do so with minimal fuss. I'm grateful to the power that be and highly excited but puzzled. I had the distinct impression whilst this was going on that I was traveling not so much in an "astral" plane, but in a subtle reflection of the physical world, an mirror realm very close to this one.

For beginners, one thing I think was key was an expectation of positive outcome, without dwelling, RELAXATION, and occupying my conscious mind my contemplating my breath, the sensation of it going in and out of my nose. When I was younger I tried counting my breaths and found interesting experiences but not quite like this! Also having gotten REM sleep before, waking, and *then* trying this.

A question to experienced travelers. Have you had the experience of trying to return, or waken up, and finding yourself just waking or returning into yet another projection or another dream, in sequence? With not the panic, but the lurking fear that you may not be able to "return" after all?

Hi kamals

That was very well written and a pleasure to read - thank you for sharing.  I giggled at some parts due to familiarity, especially about the bathroom being the wrong way around!

I have to agree that relaxation is key, certainly in my experiences.

And those false awakenings - yes I've had them many times.  I never fear that I might not return - I wouldn't mind not returning - I'd treat it as an awfully big adventure if I couldn't get back to physical reality.
