Last night I tried doing snow angels with my astral body.  It actually felt like I was moving... quite fascinating.  This past week however has been sadly uneventful.

Last Sunday I had my most amazing sensation.  I haven't had the time to post it until now.  I was read for sleep, and I remained aware for probably around 30 minutes, and then I tried out that rope technique.  I had the craziest sensation of my body so warm and cozy just expanding further and further, the warmth was like a large ball in the middle of my room, with my consciousness in the middle.  This was the greatest thing EVER that has happened to me.  Best feeling in the world... and foolish me, I tried to leave my body at this state, and I moved my physical body.

My problem lies in seperation... trance states are simple enough for me to acquire, but it's the "am I ready to leave?" that just boggles me.

Anyone with some helpful advice as to "how will I know when I'm ready to seperate?", please chime in.

I would love to join in this exercise but how to try 'interrupted sleep technique' with a partner in the same bed?

"Sorry to wake you honey, at this un-godly hour,  I'm just off on a little trip..."

LOL; Just tell your partner that your doing a lucid dream exercise its more scientific that way. Throw them a Stephen Laberge book and say "See, it's been scientifically proven!"
Actually heres a great link to his version of the nap technique and the study results, it works for obe or lucid dreams. I use a slightly altered method combining induction techniques rather than M.I.L.D.

Tia,

Do you usually sleep through the entire night without waking up?  I know that for me, I consistently wake up around 4am every morning to go to the bathroom.  This wold be an ideal time for me to practice OBE.  My only problem is that I have to wake up at 5:00am to work, and just knowing that I have an hour left to sleep is enought to make me go back to bed!

Anyway, if you do wake up to go potty, you could use this as your biological alarm clock, without waking up your spouse.  If, however, you never wake up during the middle of the night, you could try to drink a couple of glasses of water before going to bed.  This is almost guarunteed to make you get up and pee!

Hey, I must have had this in my subconscious because I woke up last night, looked at the clock and saw it was 2am.  Had a pee then thought I would try for an OBE.  Could not control the mind at all,  I spent about an hour battling sleep before giving up.  Was very strange.  I have more control when I am fully awake.  I will read the technique and try again - not giving up that easily...

This does sound like a very good idea. My trouble is that I usually project about 1-2 hrs after I fall asleep, and then of course I have to get up to write it all down because otherwise I forget nearly everything... *Sigh* By the time I go back to sleep, I have to get up in a couple of hours. Last night I woke up in the vibrational state, and actually passed it up because I knew I couldn't afford the time! Staggering sleep? Hmm. I'll try it.

Yes that can be annoying writing out all those o.b.e.'s

Ever since I read astral dynamics I just jot down key words that I am certain will trigger full recollection. If its on the weekend, which it usually is when I try the nap technique, I wake up and drink coffee while writing the dream :)

I don't know why, but this technique works for me 9 times out of ten. I sleep for 5 hours, stay awake for one hour and meditate or read about dream related stuff.

When I lay back down I don't bother with relaxation exercises or trance induction..
Also I don't move my body at all once I find a comfortable position. I think this is important, I have found myself ready to exit time and time again, then I move to itch or stretch my limbs, and it seems as If I have to start all over.
I find movement interrupts the natural flow of hypnagogic images that start to appear at a given moment.

When imagery appears, I try to involve myself in it with tactile sensations or visualizations.

The drag part of this technique is that I can never seem to do it if I have to work the following day. Must be the stress of knowing I have to get up shortly; which in turn doesn't allow me to fall back asleep easily. But on the bright side I have 1-4 projections every weekend.  I find they often happen in clusters, one right after another, if I do one thing... not move the body after waking from a projection. This becomes a habit after awhile, resulting in some very satisfying clusters of projections.
May you all have similar great results with this technique. : )

Tia

Since I read this post I have been waking up every night without any alarm or even thinking to do it - must be subconscious.  No projections as yet, I still fall asleep straight away but having amazing dream recall.

Anybody else getting results of any kind?

Ryan

Just curious Tia, do you stay awake for an hour or so then try to project?

Or do you awaken and immediately try to project?

I find it works tons better if you actually get out of bed and thoroughly wake up.

I have experimented with different time intervals. If I'm not awake for at least 50 minutes after sleeping about 4 to 5 hours I usually fall asleep straight away, resulting in a failed projection. But if I wake up and read a book for about an hour or some other activity, any activity really, then my mind gets active and the resulting projection is usually successful. I wish I could get away with only five minutes, then I'd be projecting all over the place every night.  : )

It's like your body is nice and relaxed after 5 hours of sleep, and an hour of mental activity has awakened your brain enough to keep you from falling asleep right away.  I rarely ever wake up briefly in the night and have a successful projection, though everyone is different. I encounter the same problem as I suppose many do, simply falling asleep. That is why I feel it is important to get out of bed for an hour or so, then proceed with the projection attempt. Not convenient on work nights, I know.

LMAO! That's the funniest thing I've read in a while.

I love the idea of this technique- I can't wait to try it out.

What get's me out of my body in a hurry:
The sound of a repatitive bell. The pull-chain of the ceiling fan 'ding-ding-dinging' against the light fixture has worked for me with near 100% success for years. Like a shamans repetative drum beat.

Also- if I'm hot/sweaty at night I tend to leave my body.

Tia

Ok, I have had to give up with this technique.  I tried for 4 consecutive nights, was amazed that I could just wake up whenever I wanted though.  For some reason my brain is uncontrollable after waking, even after one hour.  My mind is like a busy fairground with various activities going on and music in the background .  The minute I get it quiet, it drops straight into sleep mode, cant get the halfway stage.  And I do wake up tired.

OahnMacleod

The past year I have been using 9-minute interval snooze hits on the alarm to induce lucid dreaming.

My body wakes naturally every night at a 2-3 dream minimum, I wait a let the memories register in my physcial mind before returning to sleep. For a short time I use to keep a dream journal and that was quite the experience as well.

I don't want to go into endless detail of my dreams, but just pop in to say that I  have used this technique with success every Friday and Saturday night since this topic began, and for about three months before this topic even started.
I have noticed however that the best results happen for me when I use affirmations during this technique. I will simply say over and over to myself, "Now Im out of body".

Dream well.

Arie

I plan on doing the interrupted (sp?) sleep technique tonight.  What techniques do you guys use to get out of your body?  Do you wait until your body falls asleep completely?   Thanks

What I do is that at some point after my sleep reflex has taken over, I 'snap' bak to my full conscious awareness.  Almost the same kind of feeling you get if you've ever died in a dream.  All goes black, and you feel strange, like something is about to happen.

Well, I'm very familiar with this feeling now, so whenever it happens, I simply ROLL out of my body.  That seems to be the most effective exit technique for me.  However, this is only something that one would use for going OBE.  If you were to astral project into the astral realm directly, you would simply phase right into it.

Imagery, Projections, and Interrupted Sleep!!!

Thanks to Ryan's post of such a wonderful technique I think we have something good started here. I love the technique, and k2sixx and Jason apparently love it too!!! The technique is posted here:

http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=&TOPIC_ID=2002

for all to read. Read it, do it, and we can post our experiences and successes with the interrupted sleep technique! My sleep is in ULTIMATE interruption this weekend, for this is my weekend of working nights out of the month. So starting Tuesday I can interrupt the sleep too!! We can post our successes and happenings, and get some people projecting in clusters!!!

Woo hoo!!

Let me know you're here Ryan, jason, and k2sixx!! Everyone else join in on the fun.
