When I close my eyes to go to sleep or just relax, I automatically start seeing images.
Whether I'm laying in my bed, closing my eyes while on the bus, or in class, I can see images in my head.
Very vivid images.

When you close your eyes, your eyes need to adjust from light to darkness, correct?
If I look at the different patterns that makes in my head I start seeing people and places and things in perfect vision .
I find this is an amazing exit technique for me, I haven't heard of anyone else using this exit technique.
Is anyone else this way ?

Thanks for reading (:

HAHAHAHA

Sorry but this is a very well known method called 'Phasing'
I tried it but it didn't work well for me....well nothing has...

You mean you don't imagine these images? They are as clear as when you open your eyes? That's kinda strange. Ive never heard of that before.

Yeah, after a moment they're very clear.
I haven't heard of anyone talking about it before.

When I was at college I got into the bad habit of sleeping during the day or trying to AP sometimes if I didnt have a lecture and basically found it hard sleep at night. It turned into a bit of a viscoius circle coz I would turn up to lectures feeling really tired and as soon as I got back home I would go to sleep. What I found eventually is that I could put my body through the sleep process in a very similar way to a technique that I use to AP. I would relax my body, but instead of staying aware, I would start to see things when I had my eyes closed. At first they would be hard to make out, but I would try and make out what they where. After a short period of time, they would start to get sharper and sharper to the point at which it was almost as if I had my eyes open. I used to just let it happen and watch what was going on. The final phase was that I could hear what was going on, I would let my conscious slip and then I would fall asleep.

I think it for me at least it might just be subconscious projection, but it felt very wierd how I was fully conscious for the majority of it and seeing these things as vivid as they were. I can still get to that point very quickly by just by relaxing, closing my eyes and watching what appears.

Lighten

I would suggest not bothering with this "issue". It seems like you can use it as a great was to project. Why not? Just read a few things on phasing, get into a trance state and your off. Sounds great to me. Let us all know how well this works for you.

OR...you can read this thread by Frank Kepple.

He explains quite well what Phasing is.
When I am 'relaxed' and 'Calm' I will see all sorts of things when I have my eyes closed like this.
Many things 'morph' into others things.  Especially faces.  I have seen locations, rooms, faces, colors, etc.
It is very cool!  Not one's imagination in my opinion.

Same with me. Maybe this is hard to believe but sometimes I can see cartoons, like the ones in TV. The wise men too visits me this way and othe beings of Nature come once in a while, whem I'm ready for a shift in my conciousness. I just relax, watch and enjoy ... then sleep.

thank you so much !!
i see the same things,
i remember when i was a freshman in highschool before
i started projecting, i told my art teacher about what i saw
when i closed my eyes.
i thought if anyone could understand it would be him, you know ?

he told me i should go see a psychologist.
:x

Lighten

Haha, that was funny. "he told me i should go see a psychologist".

Old Dood

Well, he only can go as far as he/she is taught. (I am talking about the Art Teacher and not okaykaykayli)

A psychologist huh.  Ouch!  Maybe he just had no clue and thought a psychologist would, but it's not a very nice thing to say!  People tend to say mean things when they get spooked or out of their element.

Aren't you talking about hypnagogic imagery that becomes more and more vivid as you turn your focus with in your mind during meditation?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallucination

http://neurology.health-cares.net/hypnagogic-hallucination.php

As you continue, it leads to phasing or OBE/projection.

I posted a very accurate example video visualization of the first stages of vivid hypnagogic imagery but no one was interested.
I think because it's too basic and uninteresting.

CFTraveler

Yep, hypnagogics are natural to anyone who goes into a deep enough trance.  Unfortunately some groups (like the ones trying to sell you medications) want to pathologize everything.

Did you write that article about hypnagogia?
And where did you post the video visualization of hypnagogic imagery?  I'd like to see it, please.

iNNERvOYAGER

Lol, alright, thanks.

Phosphene/Hypnagogic.MPG 6MB
Originally, I started  a topic with questions asking if anyone had ideas what the fractal cloud like forms relate to.

Do they reflect the brain's neural structure?, is it fractal logic?, is it something beyond that?

After a month of no replies, I deleted the topic. Then replied to another hynagogia topic with the mpg clip.

I found a visualization program that allowed me to pretty much replicate exactly what's in my visual field after a few minutes of meditation,  before the more vivid imagery starts after a while longer. Sort of a transition stage that always happens, but has become more detailed over the years.

CFTraveler

Oh, I remember seeing it before.
I see that anytime I close my eyes for any period of time, though.  I usually have hypnagogic images after I'm in a deep trance and they come in fast and in 'snapshot fashion'.
The phosphenes, if you have time to mess with them, can be made to react to thought- I can make mine change colors at will, I'm not sure if it's a perceptual thing or an actual physical thing.

iNNERvOYAGER

Changing the colors, that's interesting, don't  hear much about this from other people.

I try to change the motion sometimes, like flying through clouds. Nice way to relax and clam the mind.

When I first noticed these forms years ago, they were more blob like, now they're much more detailed and in sharp focus.

Old Dood

That is interesting.  So you are all saying when you close your eyes then this is what you see?
I have seen similar things I suppose.

MY SPECIAL PURPOSE

iNNERvOYAGER

At least in my experience, the phosphene part of seeing fractal cloud forms is the onset to the first stage of "noticing" as Frank Kepple says, or turning the attention into the visual field.

And as you say, the source of imagery seems to be something other than just local imagination.

The scenes of forests and landscapes could come from our primordial desire to live in an ideal environment, and or a form of remote viewing, and visions of the astral mixed in.

Sometimes I decide to shift from Earthly scenes to a star scape, and try to see planets and moons. If I could see galaxies and nebula, then I might be more convinced that this is not just imagination.
