Title: Interesting experience-possibly prior to ap?
Post by: Shivers on January 19, 2012, 22:01:03
I was hoping that someone could offer some insight to this experience as I'm still very new at this.

The other day I was having a day-time nap and came to full consciousness while still asleep.  I was aware of holding a large wooden cube in my hand and thought "Hang on, I can't be holding anything at all as I'm asleep" but the sensation seemed vividly real and I kept squeezing this cube to try and work out how real it was.
Then without warning I sensed a loud buzzing/roaring coming from my window.  It was so loud that it frightened me and I tried to escape it by waking up.
Doesn't the buzzing/roaring sensation usually come from your own body, not from a window or anything exterior?

There are sounds, which dont come from your body. Sometimes are "only" outside noises intensified (can be, like all supernatural noise perceptions, extreme!). Sometimes inner body noises. But there can also be noises, which dont have an physical cause. Many of all of these noises and intensifications of noises can not be located properly. I was once frightened because my inner ear noice intensified to a loud ship-diesel-machine like noise. An other frightening noise is a somtimes occuring realy loud "BANG" (lice a big firecracker in the room), which ensures, that one will be awake for some time (especially when heared the first time).

Mhhmmm, maybe next time I should just go with the flow instead of trying to wake up.  Lol, trying to wake up from sleep paralysis isn't the easiest thing.
By the time I awoke though, there was no noise at all outside, so I guess it must have just been that loud roaring/vibration before an obe. :)
