Hi,
I never thought to mention it to anyone, I guess I just dismissed it.
However your dream about the light switches, and how you describe your reaction(s) in the dream is exactly as I've had them. I can't remember the last one, maybe w/in the last year or two, but I've had those light switch dreams a number of times in my life.
So I hope you get some posts from people who can fill us in on this, as I'm very interested. By the way, welcome to a great website forum.
Very best,
yes it looks like being an OBE with the unfortunate aspect of it being you did not know it was....you knew nothing i would imagine as a child about astral projection..and you just ..with the typical child's mind..viewed it as something which was quite a common thing.the best thing I can suggest is to read as much books on astral projection as you can..saturate your mind with the desire to project......
come to think about it, i think I also might've experienced something like like that. I'd try to on the TV but nothing would happen so I'd go and try to walk up my parents, who seemed to ignore me. It was really weird and confusing.
I'm pretty sure it was an OBE. I once had once like that. I was aware I was out of my body but it was my second OBE so I paniked and tried to switch the lights on, of course without any success. I think it was an OBE because dreams are never the same. Well, that's what I think. [:I]
hello mr incognito. we're having some trouble telling the difference between a dream and oobe around here.
a reality check is something you do when dreaming or when projected to test whether or not you are in the physical dimension. trying to turn on or off lightswitches is usually a pretty reliable reality check. if the lightswitch doesn't work, you know you are dreaming/projected. light levels are hard to alter while dreaming. it doesn't work for everyone though.
you said you couldn't get the switch to move. that makes me think you were oob and in the next closest dimension to the physical. it's called the 'real time zone'. it's a close replica to the actual physical dimension. you can move through all physical matter while in this zone. usually you can't effect the physical while oob. this would make sense in your case.
there is a lot of information on this site. you shouldn't need to go anywhere else. except maybe to the bookstore to buy 'astral dynamics' by robert bruce. if you are serious about projecting you want to get that book. mostly everyone here that contributes to the forum has read it and most of the answers you will get here will come from it. robert did a really great job writing it and it's the best book on the subject available.
you don't have to read the entire book to get started. there are practices about a third of the way through that you can start doing immediately. they only take about fifteen minutes a day to do and you will see results fast. there are also a bunch of treatises that you can access from the main page here. if you have more questions after reading them try doing a search. we've already covered many topics on here. most of them are for beginners, mostly all of us are.
welcome to the site.
Hi all. I used to have these "dreams" when I was a kid, maybe a dozen times or more (at least that's as many as I remember). I don't know what else to call them even though they really didn't have the usual nonsense dream qualities. In these "dreams" I would walk around the house in the dark. I only remember bits and pieces. ALL of them involved trying to turn on the lights in the house. For some reason the lights would never turn on. As I remember, sometimes it seemed like I couldn't get the switch to move.
Like I said, these experiences didn't have the usual nonsensical dream qualities. I could think very clearly. I would always think, "I need to remind Dad in the morning that something's wrong with the electricity." As soon as that thought passed, I would get a sense of deja vu, or a "not THIS again" feeling, as if this had happened countless times before. In the morning, the clocks were always right and no one else mentioned the electricity being off. We lived in a suburban subdivision where the power rarely went out, even during storms. Strange, eh?
Also the angles of everything seemed wrong. Sometimes I would be looking at things from above or below that should have been at eye level.
I haven't had one of these in yeeeeaaars. I'm 29 now, I have kids, a 50 hour a week job, and I rarely even dream at night anymore. In other words I'm pretty much tied to the physical world these days. I just wonder if these experiences could have been OBEs and how I can duplicate them.
