i have read somewhere on the internet
that if you jump while going into the land of nod it's your astral body trying to get out.do any of you lot
have this please??
If you jump while you're falling asleep, its usually your body falling asleep quickly which feels literally like falling very fast. Staying focused and aware will prevent you from jumping or jerking when this happens, as you might not be aware of it yourself, your body still reacts.

Can't say that I have, but then again I don't know what "the land of nod" is..
Sort of like pyschic boy thread I suppose..
no not at all i take
the subject seriously.unlike others, it's a term often used in this part of the world, meaning going to sleep

that maybe so while going to sleep, however i have jolted
almost into the air while relaxing and thinking of a place. i think it is the astral body trying to leave and your body pulling you back in...

Its not your astral body trying to jump out, if you're not aware of it, then you cant be projecting. Its simply your body falling asleep (to fast for comfort) and then the bodies reaction to it.
I think Logic is right. Once I was asked about this and couldn't come up with better idea than various muscle groups relax not exactly the same time and the difference between their tension trigger a spinal reflex.
There are flexor muscles and extensors to move the same articulation. If, for example, the flexor muscle(s) remain highly tensed but tension of the extensor(s) decrease above a given level a reflex movement is triggered.
It should be similar to the situation when Major Tom and I come on over to you and while Tom hold you down ruthlessly I start to beat your knee with a giant rubber hammer until you kick forward lol.
Maybe you should relax before sleep / projection or if you already do that then you need do it in an another way to prevent all this to happen.
I read in an aging astral projection book of mine (sorry can't remember the author) that this kind of 'jerking' or 'jolting' whilst asleep was actually your astral being pulled back into your body and not your astral trying to leave your body. The term phrase was called 'repercussion' if I remember rightly, and it basically means that your physical body brings your astral body back into syncronization with it very quickly due to several different reasons such as when you have a violent lucid or vivid dream or when you have a falling dream for instance where you suddenly jolt after hitting the bottom or face of a cliff/tree etc. Apparently this 'repercussion' is part of the whole astral experience and everyone has one from time to time but they don't quite understand nor realise what it is.
Mmmhmm, I've also read it's the astral body sorta bumping in and out when you're not quite asleep. I think that's true. But I also think it goes in with the body being tense like a few of you have said.
When you're tense, you're also blocking energy. So as you fall off to sleep, some relaxing goes on, which releases energy and Whamo energy jolt occurs at it flows again.
Tai chi students I have spoken with have noticed a big decline in this just falling asleep jolting after they've been working with tai chi's energy harmonizing movements for a while.
And here's an interesting thing. If you're really tense, many of those tense muscles won't relax even if you sleep because you're nervous system says, Oh, this is the new default. Just the thought of all that bound up energy gives me a headache. Flow energy flow!
This is an interesting topic. I jump a lot drifting off to sleep. It's feels like I'm trying to fall asleep on a tree branch and keep having to correct my balance so I won't fall off.

It's true, I sleep all the time tense. Sometimes I'll wake and find that I've been sitting up in bed for who knows how long. You don't have to be relaxed to fall asleep. I wonder if this has connections with difficulties projecting. Falling asleep is easy enough, sometimes even falling asleep but keeping awareness, but still being stuck in-body ... and now I think that might be because even if I am asleep, my body still isn't.
Anyone know any good natural muscle relaxants or exercises for relaxing the muscles?
Mactombs, the absolute all time best I've come across (and this is my speciality don't you know), and you'll never believe the exercises are effective until you actually try them, are Pete Egoscue's methods. Try his book _Pain Free_.
The Supine Groin Stretch will knock you out. And YES you must do the full ten minutes!
I call them the Pain pain goes away stretches. :D
Right, and the tension goes away too.
Hi guys,
I just posted a thread on this, complete with links to news articles:

This has happened to me and still does. It seems to be when the hypnogic images become so vivid I start to mimic their movements maybe proving they are my own creation Is that a possibility
