A couple of nights ago something happened and I can't get it out of my mind wondering what it all meant? I was trying to induce AP and was at the point after VS where my visions were becoming real. I opened my eyes and saw this man staring nose to nose at me. At first it startled me but the look in his eyes told me he was positive energy and I felt love. Then he kissed me breifly, not a sexual kiss, but it was full of love and I was consumed by it. During this my whole body was consumed with this powerful sensation of love that it made me cry and I came back! Has something like this happened to anyone? I can't stop thinking about it because I've never felt this sort of love before...I hope I meet him again.

Hi Kate.  I've experienced something similar I think.  I find I am very open to spirit during deep relaxation.  When I have a guide present, I get the strongest sensation of love, and it's wonderful.  I also get this with other spirit.  My ex father-in-law visited me yesterday, and I felt this same powerful sensation of love.  I also get this when I AP frequently.  It's wonderful, isn't it?

Yes, it was awsome! I wonder if this was my guide, trying to get me to trust him and not be scared...

Hallo Kate
What you experienced could be a variation of the 'old hag' syndrome. The 'old hag' syndrome is usually a person who is in sleep paralysis experiencing a negative astral being, usually an old woman (hence 'old hag') trying to scare them. The astral being usually does not actually attack or harm the person but Does frighten them and prevents them from going OOB.
Sometimes, however, the 'old hag' is not a negative or scary being but a friendly and helpful one. Such encounters, like yours, are relatively rare

Maybe, but there was absolutely nothing negative about this encounter. I really didn't sense it was something trying to prevent me...more like waiting for me patiently...

kate_pell

I just did some research on the 'Old Hag' syndrome and that sounds absolutely horrible! I say a prayer everynight before I try and induce to for god to protect me and keep me away from harmful entities, negativity, and bad anything...I feel pretty secure but this post really did scare me a bit. I don't want any fear because fear produces reasons to fear...Anyway, this 'man' was not scary and wasn't sitting on me or preventing me from moving. I did not feel anything like that. Thanks for the post though. Very interesting.

Dear Kate:
If you look up 'Dweller on the Threshold' you may feel better.  Most people agree that Old Hag is either feedback from your own expanded energy body or a self-aspect attempting to protect you from having an expanded awareness experience, which may be psychologically stressing.  So, no worries.

In my opinion you have absolute control in the astral, in fact since I started projecting the only time I sensed a negative expereince was because I created it out of curiosity.  The old man might be a manifestation of your own self.

My two cents

AlanRK

Is it really so hard to comprehend that the astral is teeming with life and infinite possibilities? Not everything there has to be some sort of hallucination.

Naykid

Did you recognize him?  Do you have any great grandparents that you don't know what they look like?  If so, I'd see if I could find a picture from a relative.  I used to be distracted by my deceased pets ALL the time.  I spent many times out of body just hugging and playing with them.  I don't think everything is an self induced hallucination.

I don't find it hard to comprehend that Alan.  Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I was curious about spirits, ghosts, and whatnots long before I knew what Astral Projection was.  So, I tend to deal with deceased animals and humans whilst out of body.  I've leaned toward retrieval stuff for years now.  It could be as simple as that being my preference.

kate_pell

No, He doesn't look like a relative that I know of. I was adopted and recently met only part of the family so getting pictures is impossible. I guess I just assume everything is an hallucination. I just need to experience more to understand this all. I should stop assuming and just go with it...

moondreamer

Try meditating on this with the intent of gaining knowledge of this event.  The best person to interpret your experience is you :)

Actually that is very interesting to me because it could be a relative that you haven't heard about yet.  Sometimes things need time to run it's course.  Maybe with the family that you have met you can see if they have family photos?  I'm just throwing the idea out there.. no pressure.  :-)

Them there are some beauuuuuu-t-ful words. Couldn't agree more.  :-D

Greetings
CF Traveler probably has it right. "Dwellar on the threshold" was the term that I meant. The "old hag syndrome" Is nearly always a negative encounter and therefore does Not fit the description of this event.

Cheers  :-)

I had never heard of Dweller on the threshold, so I was just looking around, and it is either a song by Jim Morrison  lol or it describes a dark, menacing entity.  This doesn't sound at all to me like what she is describing.  It sounds like her experience was more of a positive one, so I'm not sure why this association?

There are many sites that describes the dweller as a self aspect whose purpose is to protect and transform.  The experience itself may be scary, but not the entity itself.  I'll see if I can find you some links.

On edit:

I know all about the dweller on the threshold, I was giving Kate another possibility since it seems it was loving and not something trying to hurt or scare her.  Whatever it was it really is up to her to determine whether or not to dwell on it.... no pun intended.

Thank you the links CFT.  That makes a lot of sense, as I have dealt with this in the past.  I'll save the links to read further at a later time, because they look quite interesting.  Thank you!

I know you know all this stuff, I was giving the links to the poster who only found scary and negative stuff when they researched the term.

I did have to look twice and look at the name after you changed your avatar, Nay.  I like  Christmas Tazzie.

Naykid

Yeah, I'm sorry CF, I just don't want anyone to be scared unnecessarily.

I love tazzie, period!  It's so me.  :-D

kate_pell

Thanks all, that is something i've never heard of either (Dwellar on the threshold). Thanks for the links.
