Title: Meditation chairs??
Post by: Fresco on January 19, 2012, 21:08:25
Does anyone know where I can buy meditation chairs in Toronto??

I'm talking about these contraptions: http://www.omsutra.com/Backjack-Meditation-Chair-Folding_p_164.html

Also does anyone have any experience with these chairs??  Do they work well for meditation??

I don't really understand why it is necessary. Any chair will do - provided it is straight backed. Those people who are flexible enough usually meditate cross-legged on the floor, keeping the back straight.

I tried all different meditation positions, and I'm not comfortable in any of them

Then you need to find a chair that you find comfortable.
That's all.  :)

Try a nice comfortable lazy-boy or any kind of recliner, I use my La Fuma Chair and my Lazy Boy and have great results. Also, try doing some progressive relaxation, you will feel that once the body is relaxed you could meditate anywhere.
Good Luck  :-)

Then learn to do it lying down instead.

Pick a position that is comfortable, yet don't relate to 'sleep'.  That way it'll be harder to fall asleep and you'll remain conscious.
