Hello!
I've actually been trying to project for a few years.
I've had few success stories, and each of them only lasting a few seconds before I had either fallen asleep or woken up.

My first experience I was laying in bed and my father's cat decided to sleep on me. I was allowing my mind to drift and I felt a weird very fast sensation, and felt as if I was walking into the living room where my friend was watching a little girl. I snapped back and woke up and ran up to tell her. Including what she was watching on the television screen. I tried again, no success...

Another time, was when I believe I laid down, around the hour of twilight, and closed my eyes, and felt the same very fast sensation, but I was blind when my body had separated. I actually ended up returning to my body, and automatically tried again, it happened one more time, then the last I was able to see. This only lasted few moments of me looking around my room until I had fallen asleep and woken up several hours later.

I've had a few more like this, all happening around twilight for me.
Would that be considered common to have a set time of day that I could only project?

Any tips how I can possibly prolong my experience as well?

and Any stories of yourself projecting, what did you see or do?

Hello!
I've actually been trying to project for a few years.

It would help if you describe what methods you use for projecting, how often you try and how good you are at it.

The fleeting projections/lucid dreams that you write of, can be due to over excitation or too much relaxation. Once you find yourself out, you can't keep calm and focused and it brings you back immediately, and on the other hand, if you are not motivated enough or too deep in trace, you may fall asleep.

One remedy is to form a firm intention to project and slow down the projection process (assuming you are good at projecting in general). Spend more time observing yourself and the process, instead of reacting to the imagery and sounds. Once you are out, continue this attitude and simply observe without thinking or reacting. Any excitation, or intense desires or fast movement will abort it for sure.

Once you are good at keeping steady and still in astral, attempt some simple actions, like slow movements or seeing around. This should give you some time to explore instead of .... "BOOM! I saw something"...

The astral state of consciousness is a very very narrow window of mental state (for us mortals) and is very fragile. One must learn to stay in this window for as long as possible by seeing what works and what does not.

I don't know any proper names to what I technique I use... I got it from a book when I was around 15 and just remembered it. The self hypnosis count down relaxation thing. I'm not very good getting into the trance unless it is accidental though.

Energy work will help.

Being that most of us have been 3-D Earth Humans totally focused on life here, we have neglected our energetic side most of our lives.  Then we start to have metaphysical experiences, be it a profound vision or just a feeling, and we want to pursue things like meditation, shamanic journeying, dreamwork or AP.  These practices take energy, just like you need food to move around and do physical activity.  Naturally, the food returns to the Earth and a cycle starts over.  The same can be said of energy.  You "borrow" it from the universe and expend it through your practices and it is reabsorbed.  You just have to learn how to cultivate that energy.  Again, being focused in physicality has made us almost expert at providing food for ourselves.  In the metaphysical realm, cultivating "food" is easier, it's free, it's unlimited.  Train yourself to absorb energy, raise it, and learn to protect yourself energetically.
be awesome.

Mm I've been doing that for a few years. Sometimes I feel like I have too much energy and have to "release" it.

I actually took it really slow last night. and I kept almost getting it, from memory of the sensation I've had before when I first accidentally projected, it was very close. It seems when the vibrations get very strong and the sensation nearly exactly from memory, my mind will speak, and it'll distract me. Seems to do that a LOt! its frustrating
