Hi everybody, I'm very new to all this and am just looking for some advise/communion really.
For the past month or two Ive been attempting to OBE firstly through LD'ing (which I naturally do), then through (a lot of) mediation, the closest I've got is to the vibration stage through mediation using an OBE audio tape about a week ago.
Anyway, im sat in bed, ive just woke up and I AP'd for the first time last night! :)
I just want to talk ppl through what happened and really get some confirmation that what happened was a projection, because again I've never done it before:
So 6 hours after going to sleep last night I woke up, I then stayed awake for a while (I've read about WILD). When I was completely awake I turned the lights off and went back to bed, with the intention of maintaining complete awareness. I fell asleep! lol
Here's where it gets a little strange, I didnt have a Lucid dream, however I knew that I had to projects so (in my dream I closed my eyes, looked up and tried to leave my body), at which point I became completely lucid and aware of my astral body (i think) leaving my physical body. This was backed up by incredible vibrations that I felt running up and down my physical body, I could see the sky and I was rising higher and higher in it.
I wanted to prove to myself that this wasnt a dream so i projected myself to my house, i then floated through my back door and the through the ceiling into my room where I found myself sleeping in bed, IT WAS STRANGE!!!,. I floated at ceiling hight looking at my body in bed but as I tried to get closer to my body I got 'sucked back in' and felt myself back in my physical body, at which point I woke up.
I was really exited and lay down to try and project again, at which point I found myself again flowting in my room looking at my body, but I felt a dark presence in the room which scared the crap out of me - I mean really really scared me, so I scrambled back into my body and woke up. I thought this was a pretty successful attempt and was to scared to try again so took my mind away from LDing and APing and tryied to just get some mindless sleep.
For full disclosure I have to mention one thing - when 'I projected' to the back of my house the house itself, looked pretty much exactly the same is it does in 'real life' except my father has recently built a conservatory which (i dont remember) seeing,. could this mean that what I actually experienced wasnt a projection but just a new kind of Lucid Dream?
I would really really appreciate any advise on this or jsut general feedback on my experience,. its got me rather exited :)
Thanks
Ah,. also,. everything was very dark! I'm not sure if this was because it was night time or that I'm just not very good at this yet,. but my lucid dreams are never dark, there always vibrant and bright.
Whay you described sounds pretty much what you'd get.
If you had an awareness like you have when awake during the day then it'd be a full on projection.
The missing building could have been whats called a reality fluctuation.
These are very common, it simply be that it wasn't on your mind and you didn't remember it. The fear HAS to be removed ir it'll hamper your attempts.
There's nothing bad in this, the second entity you felt will be the sleeping body. You scared yourself with this duality of conciousness. It's one thing you'll get used to quickly now you know what it is.
I did all this as you've described in the 1960's before I started any schools.
Nothing scary was seen at all. I lived near some woods too and travelled these at night in the dark.

Thanks for your response. So if I get out again and again feel that presence/fear, what should I do? I'm not entirely sure that I could confront it, or should I just try to convince myself that theres nothing to be afraid of?
Again I really appreciate your help in this,.I feel like I've discovered something mind-blowing!
Good projection and well described!
Don't worry about the presence/fear, treat them the way you did: notice them but don't give them any energy and they will remain low level or disappear altogether. Not giving them energy means not getting excited or emotional with fear...this is one of your first tests, learning emotional control. Stay calm and cool.
It's like scuba diving... Understand the breathing and the physical control, stabilise, then take a look around...
Well done!
I noticed this presence and found it was my sleeping body. It only occured within a short distance of where I lay.
No worries, you are getting used to the extra senses you have that are present in the non physical.
:-D

So in your experience does this feeling fade the further you get away from your body?
I found every time you feel it, you are close to the sleeping body.
It isn't there 100 feet away.
Sometimes it's strong and most often not there. I ignored it after I did a few 'looking around the place' and found nothing but sleeping family members.

I'll chime in with my answer. Yes, the feeling fades the further away you get from your body. My most hideous 'evil presence' experiences actually happened in trance before exiting, or when just waking up from sleep (in body) After I decided that these negs. were not going to deter me, they quickly faded away.
My experiences when I was out of body (but relatively close to my body) were not as creepy as the above mentioned ones. Just a couple of times I felt a slightly negative, hackles raising, kind of feeling, but it quickly diminished when I moved farther away from my body. These also happened when I was just starting AP.
Now I have no problems with that type of thing. Maybe one in 100 projections will have a negative flare, but it's really no big deal. No worse than the occasional nightmare, and usually not nearly as bad. Just move away from your body and keep your mind on your intention to have fun exploring. The creepy stuff will just fade away. :)
Thanks everyone,. this really helps. The reason I was so close to my body was because I've never AP'd before and I wanted to analyse my sleeping body in order to confirm that it was a projection.
I have another question if people have time,.
When I was projecting it was really really dark,. is this normal? If I project/remote view at night will it always be dark?

Whenever I've projected into the RTZ, which is where most people end up when they first start, it was dark if I projected during the night, and light if I projected during the day. - So just like you would expect. You can raise the lighting somewhat by commanding there to be light. You may have to do this a few times. It may not get extremely bright but you'll be able to see well enough. Also, if you go through a door, window, or look around for a crack/spot of light somewhere and go into it, you'll most likely move into a very bright place. Those who like the 'planes' labels would say you moved from the RTZ (real time zone) to the astral plane. You may want to just hang out in your house or yard for a while if you just started, especially if you're enjoying exploring there. Take everything at your own pace. :)
Quick question!
I know exactly what time I fell asleep and woke up, the night that I had my successful OBE's. Would it make sense to use this as model for future attempts?
I'm thinking I might just go to bed at 9 every night and set my alarm for around 3 as this is what happened,. except I fell asleep by accident and only woke up because I still had my contacts in,.
:-)
Yes it makes sense. You've got 6 hrs. of sleep then before you project which is a number that works well with many people. (including me) The exact time you go to bed isn't so important. It's more about the time between going to sleep and projecting.
Ok,. brilliant,. cheers mate,. I'll make this habitual! :)
IT WORKS!!!
So last night I went to bed,. not as early as I would have liked but I set my alarm for 6 hours later. Turns out I didnt need it because 6 hours into my sleep I just woke up (my body always seems to wake me up like 5 mins before my alarms go off). I got up turned the lights on and had a walk around the house, then when it felt right I turned the lights of and went back to bed with the intention of APing.
I slipped straight into a LD in which I though,. right time to leave my body and I visualised my conciousness leaving my physical body,. BOOM the vibrations started and I could see my room as my conciousness was exiting vertically out of my body. This only lasted for a few secconds (I think I got distracted) and I snapped back into my body with such a thud that it woke me up.
So I didnt really get all the way out.
The exciting thing is that I now have confirmed to myself the process for achieving AP and I know how to get out,. so I will just keep trying :)
Congratulations are in order.
Keep doing what you did, if it's dark and you last longer just think it'll be light and light will come. It may be a golden glow too. I waited for this to occur before moving upwards when I was 4 years old.
That's half a century ago
Awesome job, bluej!!!! :-D
I have another quick question if anyone can help:
Are there specific times at which its easier to AP/OBE?
The reason I ask is because the couple OBE's that I've had were the result of going to bed and waking up at pretty much the same time (9-10,3-4). Last night however, I went to bed quite late,. I still woke up after 6 hours and did everything else the same but it was fairly light outside and I didnt even get close.
Even though you went to bed late, it's probably a habit for you to get up at a certain time. If you were trying to project around that time which is habit for your body to get up, it doesn't work so well. Your body is no longer ready to relax enough. In that case I find if I read a book for a while I'll start to get tired and relaxed again. At that point you can try again.
That makes sense cuz I actually get up earlier than that weekdays,. so i did feel unnatural to go back to bed i guess,.
