Hi
A couple of you have mentioned to me about the film Butterfly Effect and the Chaos Theory.
Well I watched this last night (and i am rubbish at interpreting films) so if you can shed some light as to why this is relative to Astral Projection? The guy in the film keeps going back in time to change his life and outcomes, but how is this Astral Projection?

Xanth

He kept leaping back in time... changing one minute part of the past, which then had a huge effect on his present.
I don't think those of us who practice Astral Projection have to worry about it.  I don't believe you can "change" the past... you can only "view it".
In my opinion, the Astral is simply your subconscious... there, you can play back any memory you've ever had like it was a movie you were watching.  You can't change any of it... or if you can change it, it's only in your subconscious, not the physical reality.

Actually, you kind of can, but it's nothing like "Back to the Future" or "Butterfly Effect". You can go back and re-experience things from your own past, and so something differently or just "deflate" the event of energy. Doing this will definitely lessen or even remove its effect on you, and in some cases, it will (apparently!) remove memory of the event from other people's realities, as well. This may or may not be actually "changing the past", but it can certainly help deal with a lot of baggage and past memories and so forth. It even works for traumatic memories, though it take a lot of courage and energy to go back into a situation where you were traumatised.

I don't think you can undo serious consequences, though. For example, if you commit a crime and go to prison, I don't think you can go back and change it so that you're not in prison. Well.... maybe some people who are extraordinarily adept at reality creation might be able to. I don't know anyone like that, though (or if I do, they're not fessing up ;)).

Agreed, though I suspect it might be a shared subconscious, as well, because it can have a sort of "ripple effect" if you do stuff there.

I mostly agree with that as a way of looking at it, but I've seen examples where doing this actually changes other people's perceptions/memories, as well. I also don't really buy into "physical reality" as one, single, unified "place" or "plane" where everyone experiences the same thing. I have plenty of reason to think that everyone has their own version of it, though in most cases, there's a great deal of "overlap" because for the most part, people use the same basic "templates" for it.

But that's probably another discussion. :)

I'll just preface by saying that I mostly follow Franks Phasing Model.  :)

I can agree with everything you said.  ;)

The "shared subconscious" thing though, would relate, in my terms to the area AFTER what most people refer to as the Astral Planes.
To me, the Astral Planes (or Focus 2 oC as per Franks model) is the subconscious... your own personal playground of sorts.
After that, you hit the Transition Area (Focus 3 oC) which is defined mostly as an area of "Collective Consciousness".

Just my opinion though.

Ace film/s though :)

In my research it seems you can only experience the past in things you have experienced and reply them like a film around you, your interactions with the past are limited by how many memories you have of the event and people involved in the event.

There's a good reason for that.
You have access to, in the Astral (aka your SUBCONSCIOUS), anything that *YOUR* 5 senses have taken in.
Everything has, literally, been recorded for your viewing pleasure later on.

But since it is your subconscious... you would technically only have access to that data which your 5 senses have sensed.
