My first & only result with AP!

Hello everyone!

I'de like to share my weird experience with you.  I've been trying this for months but nothing ever happens apart from slight tingles over my body but last night as I lay trying to go to sleep I thought to myself "I'm pretty relaxed here, I'll give a projection a go".

I went through my normal routine relaxing, imagining falling sensations to produce the trance state, then used the point shift tecnique combined with the rope trick.  But as usual nothing spectacular happened, just tingles in my arms and torso area (i get them every time and that's all).

So I gave up and turnt over onto my front (I can only sleep in this position) and tried a tecnique Lobsang Rampa suggested in one of his books, which is repeat in your mind three times "I will astral travel tonight and remember everything!" so that it gets into your Overself/subconscious.

If this worked I would have expected to wake up in the morning and remember my travels, but the funny thing was, that I woke up around an hour later and couldn't open my eyes.  They felt open but all I could see were green and white tiny squares making a tube structure.  I turned my head over to the left struggling to get my normal vision back and a picture of a plant at the far end of this tubelike mass of colour appeared (looked like an ivy/vine thing).  Then I got my normal vision back and I woke up completely to a normal waking state.

This is about the only weird thing or the only thing at all that has happened with me.  Usually I just fail and give up till the next time.  Thinking back now, it sends shivers up my spine, it was definately not normal.  I've never had anything like that happen before.

Anyone have any suggestions what it may have been?  Or why it occured?

Nice experience  

Good old Lobsang Rampa!  You were so close!!  The tube structure is a classic "entrance" to the astral world.  Instead of trying to get your normal vision back, what you should have done is mentally directed yourself into the tube.  You would have found yourself somewhere else in the blink of an eye!  

Whenever weird things happen, don't struggle against them – embrace them!

Why it occurred?  Because you were in the correct state of mind for it to happen – relaxed, no expectations, and not trying.

You'll know what to do next time – good luck!

I have been to such a similar tube-type structure myself, but it was blue, and there were different coloured stripes that swirled in it. What you see seems a similar a tube type structure.
Why it occurred -- you were really in a relaxed state, as the previous poster said. I distinctly remember my state when a similar thing occurred, but in my case a swirling tunnel started appearing before my eyes (fading in) and I flied towards it. I remember looking close at the wall of the tunnel, and seeing the material it was made of had an exquisite texture.

My advice before making serious OBE attempts, start doing yoga (I recommend Iyengar yoga, for self-study get "Light on Yoga") and meditation (IMHO an authoritative book is "Meditation and Its Practice" by Swami Rama).

Couple times during meditation I would feel myself flying backwards thru rust-colored rings. Not really a tunnel or tube, but similar. The rings would shrink smaller and disappear. Last time I said, no I want to go forward and after some time it really happened. Finally i found myself in  some space which also was rusty in color. Since I was still aware of my body at that time, nothing more happened, the experience ended.

I just wonder what it was? Can anybody tell?

It seemed very real, not like something my imagination created. If I want to imagine it and see these rings clearly in my mind, I cannot do that.

Ivanada...when we see tunnels etc. during an AP it is our consciousness going through the various chakras I think...what you had was that I am sure..
