Hey, so the passed few days I've been meditating at least 10 minutes a day hoping for a voluntary ap, but I ended up reactivating my childhood involuntary ap ability last night... I took a nap at 9, woke up around 11 and took a shower then tried passing out again around 11:30. I woke up paralyzed and an eerily familiar feeling took over me... a feeling I haven't had for at least five years. I found myself fighting to keep my eyelids open, as if a force was sucking me into my mind and trying to force my eyes closed. I could see, though I'm not sure if this was the "third eye" that is spoken of.

I guess natural instinct took over me and I didn't just go with it... I concentrated like hell to keep them open and eventually woke up. I originally had planned to transition from day aps to night aps because of passed experiences. I ended up smoking a bowl, watched some television and thought hopefully that would help me sleep. I ended up going right back to the same situation thinking 'well that didn't work'... I felt it was harder to fight the force on my eyelids and at one point I thought of ap'ing, contemplated letting it take me, and pictured myself on the shore of ap island. For some reason I found myself fighting it once again and after feeling my hand move I came to. I felt strong electric activity going on in the base of my spine which I researched to be the root/base chakra, which didn't go away until around 5 am. I didn't fall asleep until 6 am...

So I was wondering is there anything one can do to close the "root chakra" at night if one wants to just go straight to sleep? I think I read about closing chakras from one of the big ap authors but I was understood that was while being in the trance state. I'd appreciate any advice, thanks.

Well, here's what I think:
First, I'm not sure  if what you want is to stop projecting, get more control of your projections, or stop them at times and induce them at other times.  So I'll just make a few comments and you take what works for you and leave what doesn't.

First of all, chakras don't close, because they are not doors.  They are energy vortexes that increase with attention.  So any effort to 'close' them will just stimulate them because you're giving them attention.
Having said that, chakras are interconnected parts of your energy body.  If one is stronger, then stimulate others to make the energy flow, balancing them.  The method I prefer is stimulating the whole energy body at the same time instead of any chakra in particular, to even out the energy.
If you feel you have 'too much energy' then ground it- that is move it  directly from 'up' to 'down' and out your feet to the earth.  Do this standing and offer the energy to the earth.  That's what the earth does, it transmutes energy.  Just like in biology.

If you're projecting because you feel that your energy body is 'doing whatever it wants' then I recommend you practice some sort of energy work so you learn to control it- control being the key word here.
If you are trying to stop yourself when spontaneously projecting and then are trying to force yourself to project when you're not ready this is confusing your brain.  Does he/she or doesn't he/she?  Try to 'go with the flow' and practice methods of control at other times, so you don't fight yourself.
Try to adopt a specific technique or discipline, to train yourself to do what you say you want to do.  Kind of like learning to learn.

If you  find you can't sleep at night, don't do any kind of discipline before going to sleep, and try to get up early to try to project.  This trains you to sleep when you're supposed to and where you're supposed to.  This is similar to the 'Don't watch TV in your bed' advice that sleep therapists give to their patients.
And that's all I can come up with at this time.
Good Luck.
