Hello everyone,

I've been trying to achieve an OOBE for years, and been only partially successful a couple of times.
Years ago, I was dreaming, but at one point in the dream, I woke up in my bed, in a pharmacy.. But I felt myself raise out of the bed, it was a very very short experience, but I believed this to be a projection of sorts. It did not feel like a 'real dream', but rather something that really occured.  It actually startled me out of my sleep.

Today I downloaded some binaural beats.
I relaxed very very quickly, and after a good amount of time, I began to feel an extremely weird sensation.  My head felt huge, like a large void, my body felt like the beats were causing waves in my body.  Like the waves on the ocean..
All of a sudden my body felt very small and my head very large, like a huge void. :?
I can't think of any other way to explain it.  I reached what I believe to be as the beginning of a vibrational state.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Are binaural beats safe to use?
Was I close or on the right track to having an astral projection?

Thanks in advance,
Mika

Hello Mika37! (Are you Finnish?)

I'm not sure if the biaural beats are safe to use or not.. but as usual, it's best to learn to OBE without any external aids, so that you don't grow dependant on those. But that's just a matter of opinion I guess. As for actual damage, I have no idea about that.

"All of a sudden my body felt very small and my head very large, like a huge void"

This seems like one description to the feeling of falling in (deep?) trance.. And from a deep trance state you don't have to do much to get the vibrations, so I'd say you're spot on in your guess.. you probably were in the beginning of vibrational stage. From there you don't have to do anything else except get out of your body.. it should be pretty easy for most people. Actually getting the vibrations is the hard part in my opinion.. after vibrations you are virtually out already, just try to fly, turn to the side(rolling out of your body), use the ROPE method or something like that to move out from your body. You'll be outside your body in no time if everything goes without problems. One problem in this stage which has plagued me is, that when you concentrate on getting out, the vibrations will lessen.. when you don't think about anything they intensify.. so it may take some finesse to balance these two so that vibrations stay intense and you still get out. Although if you just lay there with the vibrations long enough, you'll probably float out without trying.

Remember to keep your first projection ultra-short if you succeed in this, otherwise you might end up losing the memory of it.

Hopefully this was helpful,

Binaural beats are a very safe and natural way to assist your mind to get into the proper 'state' without using any drugs.  :)

You were definitely well on your way, keep up the good work!

Hello  :-) (Im actually half italian. I know, its unusual :-P)

Thanks for the quick replies!
I'll make sure to keep it short - although it will definitely be tempting to stay out for a long period of time!
I'll try again tonight.  I think part of my hindrance is getting over the last little bit of fear that is left in me.  Although, I feel that a tiny bit is only natural, the fear of the unknown.

Thanks again,
Mika

Buona Sera, Mika (it's almost evening over here.).
When I use BBeats I don't usually project right away, but I will in the next few days.
Just thought I'd add that.

ps.  The only contraindication to BBs are epilepsy, but maybe someone else already said so.

Well, I tried again today, for hours, with partial success.
I believe I got one hand and one foot out.  But I feel such a strong pull backward that my body, even though it isn't, feels like its tensing up or getting heavier.  I got frustrated after a few hours and decided to get up. :|

Trying not to get too discouraged,
Mika

I have been listening to the Gateway Experience Wave I and Wave II for the past few weeks.

Now i'm starting Journeys Out of The Body during the day and Lucid Dream DVD Series before bed.

Honestly though i seem to have more success projecting when I listen to electronic music.

I intend on using Hemic - sync, this night. Have you had any astral projection results with it?

Electronic music helps you come out? Is it something to do with the way the music is built or do you think any kind of music can do it?

kurtykurt42

No, never projected using hemi-sync.

Electronic music is unique in the every beat is created using computer software, unlike other music where instruments are used. The effects of the various beats can be very profound. They don't call it trance music for nothing.

For those who have binaurals:
I still say (and this may sound counterintuitive) that you shouldn't try to project when you're listening to binaurals.  But I don't mean don't use them.

The reason I say this is because the mental effort you are using (especially if you haven't consciously projected before) may keep you from reaching theta, which is what you're trying to do if you want to project.  Brainwave entrainment only works if you're in a passive state, because 'trying' to do something will knock you off the desired frequency.
Instead, try to think of it as 'relaxation help', consider your time with binaurals as a 'time for a mini-vacation' as an aid to meditation.  Have no expectations, just try to enjoy the experience.  If you can let go of expectations, you may be able to relax enough to reach theta, and the binaurals will help you to stay in this frequency longer and you will experience deep trance.
Once you experience deep trance, immerse yourself in the experience- consider it  'training yourself to know what trance feels like'- and then at some other time, once you've experienced theta, you can use it to try to project.

One thing that I do like about Gateway is how Monroe slowly works you up to an OBE. I've been going back and doing the first F10 track about once a week, and it's amazing how he slowly brings you into F10 and then just has you sit in it and get comfortable with it, no pressure for an OBE or anything astral or weird. It really takes the time to familiarize you with the subtle sensations instead of just trying to jump straight to an OBE from no experience at all. I purchased Wave I a few years ago, but have really been digging that particular track over the last few weeks.
