Hello all :-D
I thought, after silently reading through the forum, that I would finally join up and introduce myself to the rest of you all.
I've been interested in most "alternative" topics since I can remember. I've a very analytical mind, a very scientific mind you could say (well, from an interest point, I'm no scientist lol) and to me, stuff like astral projection, magics, all that is just another form of science that we are a race have lost the understanding of, or are yet to fully understand. I'm constantly coming up with theories that I want to test, but have only just started to be able to test them.
My primary focus is in the Astral and OBE's. Brief background, about 2 years ago I had been practicing and working towards my first projection, with the assistance of binaural beats as I found without them I got distracted easily, my closest experience was once, while listening to the beats as i felt myself getting lighter, a floating sensation i felt 2 heavy thuds in my midsection, about the solar plexus region of the body. The sensation was a cross between getting punched with an open and, and pulled back simultaneously. I was snapped back into consciousness quite fast as it was a huge shock. I know that these weren't physical blows as I had not woken my wife and normally when I do these jolts (it's not unusual for me to have a whole body jolt just before falling asleep that snaps me back awake, big enough to wake the wife up) I will wake her. These jolts I feel are the final stage to an OBE, but one I am not controlling. I am attempting to get back to this point, but in control of the event.
Then everything changed, I was involved in a rather brutal motorbike accident. I was hit by a red light runner one night that flung me off the bike. Long story short, 3 week coma, 2 months in hospital, 6 months rehab to learn to walk again, broken right ankle, tibia, fibula, femur, broken left arm in 4 places, both collar bones, right arm was surprisingly not injured (thankfully since I'm right handed) and as a cause of this I was chronically tired for almost a year after the event and am only now at a point where I can meditate without falling asleep almost instantly.
So, while not been able to project since those last thuds of the chest I've been reading, theorizing and thinking about everything that has made me all the more determined to achieve regular projections.
I thought I'd start a thread here (if it's in the wrong spot, mods please move) detailing all my trials and tribulations on my journey to my first astral projection.
So hello, stay tuned, and join me on my ride :)
Hi and welcome to the Pulse.
Glad you're now ok. The bike is usually the first thing mentioned, before personal injuries lol.
This didn't apply by the sound of things.
Nasty experience by all accounts.
As you've read much we have on offer, your journey will be interesting. If you've read about Destinys plan which is active on Xanths other site, you can always join that if it interests you in your endeavours.
Hello and Welcome to the Astral Pulse! :-)
Thank you for sharing your trials and tribulations. That gives us some good background on you and your situation. It also helps us help you find a plan that will work for you.
Thanks guys, it's going to be interesting to see what works considering the accident, I do still have problems focussing sometimes, but I'm more than confident that given everything, I will still be successful and have a long life been able to project. Just have to find what works.
So my attempt from last night:
Bit of background first;
the binaural app I've been using is called "Astral Dreams" form the itunes store, it has a few binaural patterns labelled Astral 1-3, Lucid 1 - 3, Shaman 1- 4 and dream 1 - 3. There is a description for each but astral 3, which i had my experience with last time is supposed to use the solar plexus Chakra (as written by the ap designer) and considering my double thump my last time i used it, this is what I have decided to continue with for now, and see if i can replicate and further the experience.
I had also done a heavy gym session last night prior to this, so my body was physically tired, but the mind was going strong.
Laid down, put the beats on through a comfortable pair of headphones and just focused on the beats and the blackness, occasionally my mind wandered, but as soon as I realized this, I focused back onto the beats. First thing I noticed is that my tinnitus in me ears (result of accident) would stop/go quite then pop back randomly, this got more frequent the more I relaxed.
As time went on I started to feel light, i had my hands resting on my stomach, I started to lose physical feeling with the bed, with my own self, my hands on my stomach felt as if they were going numb. I began to feel light, then there were very faint vibrations, not full body, but in the extremes, the came and went.
With the feelings of lightness I started to visualize my body turning to fog/steam/mist and rising up from the bed, from my body, as I did this there was an amazing light show going on in front on my eyes, rings of colours starting from the extreme of my sight and moving forwards down a tunnel of blackness (easiest way to explain) then there was 2 almighty flashes, what I now realise was a hypnic jerk and I awoke. In a way i was expecting something like this, but when it did happen i was still caught off guard and woke up. At this point I was seriously tired and decided to actually sleep.
Stay tuned for tonight's trial.
As as with everything, advise, suggestions, critique happily wanted.
Awesome. Sounds as if you're really close Inphered. I think the trick is not to be shocked back into a physical state but it's easier said than done. I'll be watching this thread to see how you get on. Good luck. :-)

Oh and i should mention i've joined up on Xanths site too, i'm reading up on destynee's plan. I'm confident I can do this myself, but hey, if i need some extra guidance I might just join up to the plan :)
Last nights endeavours.
So I'm thinking that trying to ap, after a seriously hard gym session is probably going to have negative influences on my efforts.
Set myself up with the astral 3 track playing again. I noticed quite quickly (it felt fast) that I again had the lightness of sensation, couldn't feel my hands on my body, everything began to feel light, in the blackness in front of my eyes a dark green colour emerged and I had the feeling of looking down a tunnel, the green light shooting circles down this tunnel.
I was at this time visualising myself turning into a mist/fog/stream and rising from my body. I began to feel some very slight vibrations in my extremes, acknowledged but did not focus on these.my vision in the blackness began to get brighter, a white light and I began to feel as if my body was raising from my physical self. I was then smacked in the face by my lovely wife who was dreaming, and I don't care how good you are, that'll wake anyone up. I gave up attempting again, I began to cramp in some muscles and thought it out off further attempts.
Things i noticed.
All these sensations, visualisations, observations are achieved while still been able to hear the outside world, I can hear the fan clearly, I don't focus on it but I know it's there, so far I haven't had the common trait of the lose of hearing, with the physical state at least.
I seem to be able to reach a resonate state quite fast, the lights, the change in sensation, lightness of odd etc not that I'm complaining.
Gym, while seemingly good to relax the physical body, going too hard has detrimental effects, easy to slip straight to sleep.
The binaural beat has so far given me 3 from 3 positive experiences, I know it is only a tool to assist focus, but when I used to try without I never reached as far as I have so far.
Things to work on.
Not been surprised by hyping jerks, sudden changes in the visualisation, lights, colours etc
Focus on the one exit technique, I noticed myself occasionally jumping between a few different visualisations as I felt I was getting closer, which obviously won't help, I need to stick to one technique per attempt, preferable the same technique for awhile before deciding if I need to change.
The next 2 days might not involved any attempts, I have a very late night tonight and then hockey tomorrow, which I run that will see me home in the early hours of the morning.

THINGS TO WORK ON:
1. Do not crush your attempt before you have even attempted! :-P Any doubt will stop you cold.
I have been smacked by my better half while attempting to AP at night as well. I just took it as a sign that it wasn't the right time to do it and then I just fell asleep, lol.
Hello Inphered,
While searching for a workable exit technique there's a lot of sounds and visuals and energy body sensations to work our way through. What we are expecting or anticipating doesn't always work out that way.
What immediately jumps out at me after reading your two previous attempts is this: Both times you got a visual of a tunnel. The second one was even flashing green circles leading into the tunnel. Now, I may be mistaken but it looks like someone is giving you the "green light"!!! And pointing the way to go!!!
A general rule of the NP appears to be that any kind of tunnel represents a portal to somewhere else in the NP. The NP subway system, as it were.
For you personally, this may indicate that you are more oriented to project straight to the Astral (phasing) rather than floating out of your physical into your bedroom in a RTZ exit.
Maybe. This all depends, I guess, on how strong the tunnel visual is. Does it have an immediate "pull" on you? If you focus on it to the exclusion of all else, does it strengthen and develop a kind of gravity that pulls you toward it? At some point it will become apparent that you can mentally step into the tunnel...and it will take you somewhere. Early on it may be necessary to have a definite destination in mind; later you can just let it take you wherever it wants or leave the driving to your Higher Self. You have to give the visual some time and focus to strengthen, if you step in too early you can get bounced back but just keep trying.
That's my suggestion; take the plunge! It's a heckuva ride!
Have fun!

I've cut a bit out of the quote, but yeah, now that you mention it the times I've hit this tunnel i have felt a pull in a way, not a physical pull, weird, but it felt like i was been pulled.
I can't answer the second part, but i'll investigate further when I next have a go
Your talk of maybe this been possibly more my "style" as opposed to the floating sensation, i'll ponder this and explore this further and report back :)
I think many people are getting confused by the OBE name in general. We don't have to always try to climb out/float out of the body. All we need to do is to get to the proper state to just enter the NPR through a simple shift.|
Tom Campbell speaks of this often in his videos. He says there are a number of people attempting AP by trying to climb/wiggle/squirm out of the body, instead of ALLOWING the process to take place naturally and just keeping consciously aware during it.
You are shifting from one state to the other. How you wish to induce/create this state is up to you.
The "tunnel" is showing you this. What does a tunnel represent to you? To me it represents a entrance and an exit. But in this case the entrance is in front of you and the exit in back of you. Follow the tunnel and see where it leads. Many a fantastic adventure lies ahead!
Perhaps your inherent abilities are far greater than you know.
If I try to enter the RTZ it fails miserably and I'm transported to where I can be of service.
You may be in a similar predicament, the tunnels are a sure sign of better things.
Jump in to find out and you'll be transported to where you need to be.
From the experience gained a better understanding can be made of your natural ability.

I like that Szaxx. "Where you need to be" has been the theme of almost all of my recent APs. I just ask to be taken to see what I need to see and learn what I need to learn.
In the beginning, most of my AP sessions had a intended destination. Then I stopped that "cold turkey". I did the same for staying on course of what my LDs were showing me or leading me to, just to see what lessons were to be taught there. I very rarely change a Dream. I am consciously aware in them and can react to them based on that. But I don't alter the scenarios anymore. I feel I ended up there or in that situation/scenario for a reason. I might as well find out what it is and see it through! :-)
@Lionheart: I think i initially went with the mist/floating idea because when i was attempting last time this is what seemed to give me the best response, but i don't think I saw the tunnel as been my natural way of achieve an AP. I will definitely be focusing on this as my launching point. I'll use the binaural beat to assist with my focus and starting the process, once I get to the tunnel sensation I'll explore this further and see if I can get my conscious to travel down the tunnel and see what success we have.
@Szaxx: I feel dumb, but RTZ?
Real Time Zone, it's where so many of us start out. A copy of the physical with a few extras added. It's where nearly everyone starts out initially.
It's always been safe for me and at 4 years old I still retain verifications of things seen that were exactly the same as seen when I awoke in the morning.
I regard it as a training ground of sorts.
A few have always entered the RTZ and been there ever since day one. Sylvan Muldoon is one with others even on this site.
I was experiencing the RTZ for 5 years and things changed after 3 guides appeared and instructed me on the astral proper.
Now it seems as a no-go, especially since my request to aid others sent me into the retrieval side of things.
So after an amazingly relaxing weekend away with the wife for your 1st anniversay I figured i'd put the beats on last night and see where we would get.
There isn't a whole lot to report for this attempt, like previous times, I got to the feeling of lightness in my body, the sensation of when my body was in contact with the sheets became dulled, as in I knew there was contact but it felt distant. A couple of brighter white flashes, not as intense as previous (could have been from my wife's phone as she was playing on it at the time, don't know, didn't pay overly much attention to it). This time there was no tunnel effect, or anything close to it, I noticed I was having a hard time clearing my mind and focusing on just the beats and the blackness, I was constantly wandering in my mind. I had set the app to run for 2 hours, and before i knew it the beats had stopped. Also to note was my body temperature appeared to get quite hot in a very short space of time, this is while sleeping with the air conditioner on 22°C and sleeping under just a sheet. When my focus would slip, or I'd twitch the hot feeling would go.
Things I've noticed:
I lost track of time, it felt only like 5 minutes before the 2 hour timer had finished on the app.
The temperature change, never felt that before.
Lack of focus, might have been an after effect of a huge weekend and that fact I was incredibly tired.
Dream, prior to starting this, I've never recalled dreams, to the point of not knowing if I'd dreamed at all, but now I'm waking each morning knowing I've dreamed, been able to recall snippets of said dreams. It's becoming clearer and more noticeable as I continue.
Will see what happens tonight

There's two things I wanted to respond to here. The first is what happened when you lost time was called "clicking out", now you just have to learn how to "click" back in. This comes with practice.
The second is that if you wish to enhance this recall, create a Dream Journal and write down everything you can remember upon awakening, no matter how small or trivial you think it is. Make sure that this book and a pen/pencil is close enough, so you can just reach it from your lying position. You normally get 11-15 seconds of really good recall upon awakening, so be fast. That morning bathroom visit can wait a moment. If you do this EVERY day, you will find that your ability to recall will grow exponentially.
Haven't been very active the last few days, mentally been drained. A very close friend who suffers from bipolar was admitted to hospital and it's been a bit stressful. Not been sleeping much so when I can, i'm straight to sleep.
One thing I have noticed though, is not long after i settle down i'm going to straight to the tunnel effect, the lightness and the light show, witout any binaural beats playing and without consciously trying to AP. This seems to happen within minutes of heading to bed, and always followed by hypnic jerks, a series of them. Like I'll hit the tunnel effect and without thinking about it my mind tries to move down the tunnel with the light pulses i'll get hit with a series of the hypnic jerks, much like stalling a car before I fall asleep. I admit I haven't persured these sensations further but yeah, interesting to know

This is the good and the bad of AP put together. It's good because you have now become aware. You are "noticing" every time you close your eyes. :-)
It's bad because you have become aware. You are "noticing" every time you close your eyes. But now it's hard to just close your eyes and go to sleep like normal. :-(
Kind of like a double edge sword. Some nights I just lie there and notice for hours, I can't fall asleep for the life of me. But most of the time now, the noticing goes on for about 20 minutes, then I pass/click out.
I find that being aware like this really helps in becoming consciously aware during your Dreams as well. It's great for Dream Recall too.
I'd take the opportunity while it's being presented. Or should I say, I took every opportunity that arose.
The answers to many questions you didn't know you had were given BEFORE they were required.
This led to bigger things too.
There's more to you than you can see at present.
